12 tips on studying for exam and score more

Nobody teaches how to study? This is why many student lag behind in academics. Be this school teacher, tuition teacher or parents. Problem is those fellows also don't know study tips because nobody teach them either. You can find a trainer for personal development, speech, etc but finding a right teacher is pretty tough. A chemistry expert can not show you ways to study chemical engineering. I have pretty tough experiences during my study years as there was no one to guide me. When I moved from primary school to junior school, i found mathematics extremely tough. My math teacher was always ready to beat black and blue if one does not listen patiently. So asking doubt for a 10 year young mind was out of question. Time passes by I moved to next class. In the next year I met a math lecturer who happen to be family friend also. He started helping me and improvement was AWESOME. I found, Math was not but teacher.

Heck, why should I study Benzene ring if its not interesting to me.
From my personal experiences I compiled here study tips, hope many will find useful.

  • Smart preparation is the key to success in exams, here are few tips to prepare smartly
  • Know your learning pattern, some people perform better in the morning hours, others in the evening. Know under which category you fall and plan your study schedule accordingly.
  • Always make notes of important points and formulae.
  • Revise your notes regularly, without revision you will forget approximately 88 percent of what you have learnt in a day’s time and 95 percent in a month’s time.
  • Set your goals, be organize and systematic in your studies.
  • Do not study for long hours; take short breaks of 10 / 20 minutes after every two hours or so.
  • Maintain variation in your studies; do not study a single subject for long hours. Keep mixing like 2 hours of physics and one hour of economics. Like your taste buds your brain also needs different tastes. Also when you keep variation in subjects you memorize better.
  • Reward your self when you do better, like buy a chocolate when you perform better in a chapter or test.
  • Punish yourself, when you do not do better; do not watch your favorite movie during weekend.
  •  After finishing a chapter or unit, solve old question papers.
  • Similarly after finishing a subject or syllabus take as many mock tests as you can.
  • Form your group for discussion in subjects like physics and mathematics; group discussion really helps.
