Admission to the following programmes (2008)

1. M.Sc. (Economics) – Two Year

2. M.Phil. / Ph.D. (Development Studies) (M.Phil – Two Year and Ph.D. – Four Years)

Eligibility: 1. For M.Sc. (Economics)

Minimum qualification for admission to M.Sc. programme include one of the following degrees or their equivalents:

B.A./B.Sc. in Economics/B.Com./B.Stat./B.Sc. (Physics or Mathematics)/ B.Tech./B.E. with at least a Second Division for Economics Discipline and First Division for other disciplines. The applicant must have studied mathematics at the higher secondary level.

2. For M.Phil. / Ph.D.

Minimum qualification for admission to M.Phil. and Ph.D. programme include one of the following degrees or their equivalents:

M.A./M.Sc. in Economics/M.Stat./M.Sc.(Physics or Mathematics or Environmental Science or Operations Research) M.B.A./ M.Tech./ M.E./ B.Tech./ B.E. with at least 55% aggregate marks for Economics discipline and 60% aggregate marks for other disciplines. The applicant must have studied mathematics at the higher secondary level.

All candidates appearing for their final degree examinations on or before July 15, 2008 are eligible to appear for the IGIDR admission tests. However, their admission will be provisional and subject to their securing 55% or 60% aggregate marks, as the case may be, in their final degree examination. Also, the final official mark sheets of the same must be submitted to IGIDR by October 31, 2008.

Application procedure: Application forms and prospectus may be purchased from the Institute by paying cash on working days or via post by sending a bank draft of Rs 200 (non-refundable) payable to Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) at Mumbai to the Admissions Office, IGIDR, Gen. A.K. Vaidya Marg, Goregaon (East), Mumbai 400 065 (E-mail: soffice@igidr.ac.in). Payment in any other form will not be accepted. The request for the application form in plain paper, along with the candidate's name, date of birth, sex, address, academic qualifications, choice of test centre must reach IGIDR by March 17, 2008.




Internet Download: Application form can also be downloaded directly from the website of IGIDR (www.igidr.ac.in ) and the completed form along with the application fee should reach the Admissions Office by March 21, 2008.

Selection Procedure : Admission will be through a set of written tests and interview. The written tests focus on analytical, verbal and mathematical abilities. The candidates shortlisted after the written test will be interviewed at IGIDR in Mumbai around first week of July 2008.

Admission Notice for BAMS/B Pharm (Ay) & Ayurveda Vachaspati/ Dhanwantari [M.D/M.S (Ay)] Courses – 2008

Eligibility: For BAMS and B. Pharm (Ay) courses:

Age : For both the courses candidate should have completed 17 years but not crossed 25 years as on 31st December 2008 (Candidates born after 1st January, 1992 and on or before 31st December 1983 need not apply).

Qualification : Intermediate 10 + 2 (or equivalent examination from recognized board) with a minimum of 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together, candidates appearing in qualifying examination may also apply.

For Ayurveda Vachaspati/ Dhanwantari [M.D. (Ay)/ M.S. (Ay)]:

(a) BAMS recognized by CCIM (b) MBBS recognized by MCI for supernumerary category only (c) The candidate must have completed 12 months rotating internship (4 1/2 years BAMS course) / 6 months rotating internship (5 years BAMS course) by 31.07.2008. AGE - The Upper age limit for admission will be 35 years (40 years for SC/ST candidates), on 31.07.2008.

Last date of submission of Forms: BAMS / B.Pharm: 19.03.2008 upto 5.00 PM. For MD/MS: 04.04.2008 upto 5.00 PM. Date of Entrance Test : All India written competitive Tests for admission to BAMS/B Pharm (Ay) on Thursday the 8th May, 2008 and Ayurveda Vachaspati/Dhanwantari [MD/M.S.(Ay)] courses on Tuesday the 17th June 2008 respectively

Application form along with the Information Brochure can be obtained by post from the Office of Director, IMS, BHU, Varanasi by sending a written request through Registered Post along with MICR demand draft of Rs. 800/- (Rs. 550/- for SC/ST Candidates) drawn in favour of the Director, IMS, BHU, payable at Varanasi along with two self addressed white paper slips of 6 cm x 10 cm in size. The envelop should be clearly superscribed "Application for B.A.M.S. / B. Pharm (Ay) Entrance Test - 2008, BHU".




The request for application form by post must reach on or before 01.03.2008. The application form can also be obtained on cash payment of Rs. 750/- (Rs. 500/- for SC/ST candidates) from the counter of the main Post Office on the BHU Campus between 20.01.2008 and 17.03.2008.

B) For Ayurveda Vachaspati/ Dhanwantari [M.D. (Ay)/ M.S. (Ay)] Courses:

Application form can either be downloaded from BHU website (www.bhu.ac.in) or can be obtained from the office of the Director, IMS, BHU, Varanasi by sending a written request through Registered Post along with a demand draft (MICR) of Rs. 100/- drawn in favour of the Director, IMS, BHU, payable at Varanasi along with two self addressed white paper slips of 6 cm x 10 cm in size. The envelop should be clearly superscribed "Application for MD (Ay)/MS (Ay) Entrance Test - 2008, BHU."

State Entrance Examination (SEE -UPTU) – 2008

Eligibility: 1. For admission to first year of B. Tech./B. Pharm., candidate must have passed intermediate examination of U. P. Board or 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board/University; securing (i) minimum 45% (40% for SC/ST) marks in total of required subject combination (compulsory & optional) and (ii) minimum 40% (35% for SC/ST) marks in each compulsory and optional subject of this combination as given in information brochure of SEE-UPTU 2008. 2. For admission to first year of BHMCT/BFAD, candidate must have passed intermediate examination of U. P. Board or 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board / University; securing minimum 45% (40% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate. 3. For admission to first year of B. Arch., a candidate must have passed intermediate examination of U. P. Board or 10 + 2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board/University; securing (i) minimum 50% marks in aggregate and (ii) minimum 40% (35% for SC/ST) marks in each compulsory and optional subject as given in information brochure of SEE-UPTU 2008. A candidate possessing three years Diploma in Architecture (10+3) recognized by Central/State Govt., is also eligible for admission to first year of B. Arch. only, provides the candidate has passed the Diploma examination securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate,. Such candidates will have to appear in the entrance examination for first year of B. Arch. papers (paper 2 & 6) mentioned above. 4. For admission to first year of MBA, candidate must have passed three years degree course from any recognized University; securing minimum 45% (40% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate. 5. For admission to first year of MCA., candidate must have passed three years degree course from any recognized University, securing minimum 45% (40% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate. Candidate must have minimum 40% (35% for SC/ST) marks in mathematics at 10+2 level or at bachelor degree level. 6. For admission to second year (lateral entry) of B. Tech., the candidate must have passed three years Diploma in Engineering course; securing minimum 60% marks in aggregate or 'three years B.Sc, degree with mathematics as one subject; securing minimum 60% marks in aggregate and mlnimum40% (35% for SC/ST) marks in Mathematics. 7. For admission to second year (lateral entry) of B. Pharm., the candidate must have passed Diploma in Pharmacy course: securing minimum 60% marks in aggregate. 8. The candidates appearing in the qualifying examinations are also eligible to appear in State Entrance Examination -2008 subject to the condition that they must fulfill the eligibility criteria at the time of counseling. 9. The details of admissions for NRI and Kashmiri migrants will be published later, in the month of May, 2008 according to the norms to be laid down by the Govt. of U.P./ AICTE. 10. This admission test is open only to the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from any institution located in UP. or whose parents (Father/Mother) are domicile of U.P.

Application procedure: The Information Brochure containing OMR Application form will be available for Sale in cash from 17.01.2008 to 28.02.2008 (both days inclusive) from all Head Post Offices and Mukhya Dak Ghars (MDGs) of U.P., Delhi, Nainital and Dehradun. The Information Brochure and OMR application form can also be obtained by post from Registrar, U.P. Technical University, IET, Campus, Sitapur Road, Lucknow - 226031 by sending a MICR bank draft of .Rs. 1050/- for General/ OBC and Rs. 550/- for SC/ST and female candidates of all categories in favour of Finance Officer, U. P. Technical University, Lucknow along with two self addressed stickers. The request for supply of application form by post will not be entertained after 20.03.2008. The last date of receipt of duly filled OMR Application form in the office of Registrar (SEE), U.P. Technical University, IET Campus Sitapur Road, Lucknow-226 021 will be 07.03.2008. The applications will be received in the University office by Registered/ Speed Post only. The application form received after the due date and time shall not be accepted. The University will not be responsible, for the form missed/ not received/any delay on the part of post office or for any other reason whatsoever.
