Examination schedule

Date of Examination: 12th April, 2009 (Sunday)

Paper 1: 09.00 to 12.00 hrs.
Paper 2: 14.00 to 17.00 hrs.

For admission to undergraduate courses at IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi and ISMU, Dhanbad.

All Indian and foreign nationals seeking admission to the above mentioned Institutes must appear in JEE.

• ELIGIBILITY:

A candidate must meet each of the following conditions:

1. He/she can attempt JEE only twice, in consecutive years.

2. He/she should have passed (10+2) or equivalent qualifying examination in 2008 or should be appearing in 2009, and secure at least 60% (55% for SC/ST and Person with Physical Disability PDI] marks in aggregate in his/her respective Board Examination. He/she should NOT have passed the qualifying examination earlier than October 1, 2007. If any Board awards only letter-grades, he/she should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent percentage marks. In case the respective Board awards letter-grades without providing norms for converting them to equivalent percentage marks, the norms decided by the Joint Implementation Committee, JEE-2009 shall be final.

3. He/she should NOT have accepted admission by paying full fees at any of the IITs, IT-BHU- Varanasi or ISMU, Dhanbad through JEE.

4. He/she should have been born on or after October 1, 1984 (October 1, 1979 for SC/ST and PD candidates).

• PATTERN OF EXAMINATION:

Thee examination will consist of two papers, each of three hours duration. Paper 1 and Paper 2 will each have three separate sections on Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Both papers will be of objective type designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.

Aptitude test for B.Arch. and B.Des. programmes will be conducted for those candidates who qualify in JEE and are desirous of joining these programmes.

Syllabus is available on the websites of all IITs and in the Information Brochure of JEE -2009.

Language For Question Papers: English / Hindi

RESERVATION OF SEATS:

1. 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST candidates with relaxed qualifying norms. Some SC/ST candidates who do not qualify in JEE-2009 may be offered admission to the Preparatory Course of one year duration provided (i) Seats are available. (ii) candidates satisfy minimum norms and (iii) candidates have not undergone the Preparatory Course earlier. Candidates successfully completing the Preparatory Course will be offered direct admission to the First year in the academic year 2010 - 2011.

2. For OBC candidates belonging to non-creamy layer, 18% seats are reserved in each programme in the older IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee), IT-BHU, Varanasi and ISMU, Dhanbad and 27% seats are reserved in each programme in the new IITs (Bhubaneswar, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Patna, Punjab and Rajasthan). Candidates belonging to this category are admitted on the basis of a relaxed criterion.

3. 3% for PD including leprosy-cured candidates, who are otherwise fit to pursue the course and who qualify for admission under relaxed norms relevant for this category.





Preferential ALLOTMENT OF SEATS:

Two seats in each Institute are preferentially allotted to children of defence/paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peacetime operations and who qualify in the General Category.

• APPLICATION SUBMISSION:

1. A candidate can submit application either online through the Internet or off-line through paper application.

A) Off-Line: A candidate can buy an application form with Information Brochure from any one of the designated branches of banks by paying Rs.500/- for SC/ST/PD/Female candidates (YELLOW COLOUR envelope) or Rs.1000/- for all other candidates (WHITE COLOUR envelope). The Information Brochure contains details regarding application procedure, syllabus of JEE, examination centers, courses available at various institutions, counseling, fee structure and other relevant information about JEE-2009.

(B) On-line: For online submission of applications, visit any of the websites given below and carefully follow the instructions given therein.

Postal request for application material: 19th November to 16th December, 2008

Submission of On-Line application: 8 AM, November 19 to 5 PM December 24, 2008

The demand draft of amount appropriate to category/gender must be drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of "Chairman, JEE" of the respective IIT payable at the corresponding city. Candidates applying from abroad should remit the amount in Indian Rupees. Application material will be sent by Ordinary Post. IITs will not be responsible for any less or postal delay.

Eligibility

Applications are invited from eligible candidates who have obtained

(a) M.Phil/ M.Sc (Nursing) or a Post Graduate degree in nursing recognized by INC, for enrolment for Ph.D in Nursing (part-time) under Faculty of Nursing RGUHS.

(b) The candidates should have passed M.Sc Nursing with a minimum of 60% marks.
