All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination (AIEEE 2011)

Admission to degree level courses in Engineering and Architecture in National institute of Technologies (NITs), Indian Institute of Information Technologies (IIITs), Centrally funded institutions, Deemed Universities and institutions in States/UTs (other than those covered by Joint Entrance Examination) State Level Entrance Examination for paid or unpaid seats based on the score of AIEEE 2011

Eligibility Criteria

The minimum academic qualification for appearing in AIEEE-2011 is that the candidate must have passed in final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent referred to as the qualifying examination with 50% marks for general category candidates and 40% marks for SC/ST/OBC/PH category candidates.

Those appearing in 10+2 (Class XII) final or equivalent examination may also appear in AIEEE - 2011 provisionally.

Candidates appearing in 10+2 (Class XII) in 2012 or passed in 2008 or before are not eligible to appear in AIEEE-2011.

Subject combination required in the qualifying examination for admission [^] to B.E / B.Tech. and B.Arch / B. Planning Courses shall be as under:

B.E./B.Tech.:
Compulsory Subjects: Physics & Mathematics
Optional Subjects: Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, Biology

B.Arch./B. Planning
Compulsory Subjects: Mathematics with 50% marks in aggregate at 10+2 level

Date of Birth:

Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1986 are eligible. However in case of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled
Tribes and Physically Challenged candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by Five years meaning thereby candidates born on or after October 01, 1981 are eligible.

Total fee for ONLINE Application: Rs.500/- (General / OBC) and Rs.250/- (SC / ST)

For Both BE / B.Tech. and B.Arch/ B. Planning:

Total fee including cost of the Information Bulletin: Rs.1000/- (General / OBC) and Rs.500/- (SC / ST)

Total fee for ONLINE Application: Rs.400/- (General / OBC) and Rs.450/- (SC / ST)

For B.E / B.Tech. only or B.Arch. / B. Planning only for Exam [^] Centers in Foreign Countries

Total fee including cost of the Information Bulletin: Rs.1500/- (General / OBC) and Rs.750/- (SC / ST)

Total fee for ONLINE Application: Rs.500/- (General / OBC) and Rs.700/- (SC / ST)

Sale of Information Bulletin/Application Form: The information Bulletin containing the Application Form and other details will be available for sale from 22.12.2010 from designated branches of Syndicate/other Banks/Institutions and the Regional Offices of CBSE listed in notice. In addition to the cost of information Bulletin, the designated branches of Syndicate/ other Banks or designated institutions would charge Rs, 5/- extra as service/Processing charges.

The information Bulletin containing Application Form can also be obtained by post by sending a MICR Bank Draft of Rs. 650/- for General/OBC Category and Rs. 350/- for SC/ST Category (which includes Rs. 50/- towards postal charges) along with a self-addressed envelope of the size of 12"x10" (without postage stamps) from the Assistant Secretary (AIEEE), Central Board of Secondary Education, PS-1-2, Institutional Area, IP Extension, Patparganj, Delhi- 110092. The payment is to be made through Demand Draft in favour of Secretary, CBSE, payable at Delhi/New Delhi.

The candidate should write his/her Name and Address on the back of the Demand Draft/Pay Order. However, the Board will not be responsible if the forms are not available at any of the designated branches of Syndicate/other Banks/institutions specified in the information Bulletin.

If a candidate fails to enclose a self-addressed envelope of the size 12“x10“ of the CBSE shall not be held responsible for non-dispatch of information Bulletin/Application Form. Request for supply of Application Form by post, if required will not be entertained after 03.012011.

The last date for receipt of completed application forms in CBSE will be 20.01.2011

The applications would be received in the Board’s office only by Registered/ Speed Post and not in person or through any private courier. Use of address of any coaching centre/coaching intuitions is strictly prohibited. If anybody uses the address of any coaching institution his/her application form will be rejected.

Online submission of application: Online submission of application may be made by accessing the Board’s AIEEE website www.aieee.nic.in from 23.11.2010 (10.00 a.m.) to 14.01,2011 (5.00 p.m.).

Instructions for sending online application, payment of fee and computer generated printout are available on website. Candidates submitting online application have been given exemption in the examination fee irrespective of their category as per fee schedule

Eligibility Criteria

For admission to any of the Integrated First Degree Programmes of BITS the candidate should have passed the 12th class examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Further, the candidate should have obtained a minimum of 80% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in 12th class examination, at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects and adequate proficiency in English. However, admissions will be made only on his/her merit position based on the score obtained in BITSAT2011.

Only Students who are appearing for 12th class examination in 2011 or who have passed the 12th class examination in 2010 are eligible to appear for BITSAT 2011.

If a candidate has taken more than one attempt in 12th class or its equivalent, only his latest performance is considered, provided this attempt has been for the full component of subjects/courses prescribed. Students who have passed 12th examination in 2009 or earlier are NOT eligible to appear in BITSAT-2011. Students who are presently studying in BITS at any of its campuses are not eligible to appear in BITSAT-2011

Direct Admission to Board Toppers:

In the past, admission process of the Institute always ensured guaranteed admission to all the students who obtained first ranks in their respective board examinations. This has given a very vital input of highly meritorious students from all over India.

First rank students of all the central and state boards in India for the year 2011 will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT-2011 score as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above. Further details about this scheme will be available at BITS website by 20th May, 2011.

Application Procedure

Interested candidates should register for BITSAT 2011 by applying in the prescribed application form at www.bitsadmission.com. The printout of the filled form along with the prescribed fees of Rs.1500/- (Rs.1000/- for Female candidates) should be sent to:

If a candidate chooses Dubai as a test center the application fee for both male and female candidates will be same and will be US $ 50 (or Indian Rs. 2300/- ). Details for payment of fees are available at the website while applying online.

The fee payment can be made in the following ways:

By cash payment at all ICICI Bank branches through a challan which is to be printed from the website while registering.

If a candidate is not using any of the above modes then can pay through Demand Draft drawn in favour of "BITS, Pilani", payable at UCO bank Pilani (Code: 0150) or SBI Pilani (Code: 11309) or ICICI Bank Pilani (Code: 1538). If the candidate planning through Demand draft, he/she will be required to pay an additional payment of Rs.100/- along with the application fee as processing fee (i.e. Rs.1600/- for male candidates & Rs.1100/- for female candidates).

BITSAT-2011 Test Format:

BITSAT-2011 will be of total -hour duration (without break). The test consists of four parts:

Part I : Physics
Part II : Chemistry
Part III : (a) English Proficiency and (b) Logical Reasoning
Part IV : Mathematics

All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions); each question with choice of four answers, only one being correct choice. Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark (-1mark). No marks are awarded for questions not attempted.
