Eligibility
A. B.Sc. Nursing (4 years) - only for female candidates:

a) The minimum educational requirement shall be 10+2 examination passed with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English or any other examination as equivalent thereto with at least 50% in aggregate.

Candidates appearing in April-May 2011 can also apply for the said exam, but they will be issued roll numbers only if they furnish the certificates from the respective Boards of their having passed the +2 examination (15 days by post or 5 days by hand) before the date of entrance test.

b) AGE LIMIT: Not more than 25 years and not less than 17 years on 1st September, 2011 i.e. those born after 1st September, 1994 and before 1st September 1986 are not eligible.

B. B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic):

a) Must have passed 10+2 or any other examination or its equivalent thereto.

b) Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife qualified from a recognized institute and registered with respective State Nursing Council as approved by Indian Nursing Council (I.N.C) or substitute registration in case of male candidates fully qualified for nursing of men, women and children.

In case, the candidate is in service, the application should route through the employer.

C. M.Sc. Nursing:

a) B.Sc. Nursing/B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic) or any other degree from the Institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and PGIMER, Chandigarh as equivalent thereto with at least 55% marks in aggregate.

b) Should have minimum one year of work experience after registration as Registered Nurse & Registered Midwife by 15th July of the year in bedside nursing or public health nursing or in nursing educational institutions recognized by the Indian Nursing Council after B.Sc. Nursing (4 years) or before and after Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing.

c) Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife as approved by INC or substitute registration in the case of male candidates fully qualified for nursing of men, women and children.

In case, the candidate is in service, the application should route through the employer.

Application Procedure


Before applying, candidates are advised to go through the admission notice and the instructions given therein carefully and then fill in the application form enclosed/attached with this prospectus.

Application for admission to the course is required to be submitted on the prescribed form enclosed with the prospectus. The candidates shall submit all the documents (attested Photostat copies) in support of their particulars filled in the application form.

The candidate must write the name of the course carefully under the column ‘Name of the Course Applied for’.

The application complete in all respects accompanied with two self addressed envelop of 23x10cm. with Rs.10/- postage stamp on it and all the relevant documents should reach the Officer-in-charge, National Institute of Nursing Education, PGI, Chandigarh, either personally or by Registered post by 28.5.2011 for M.Sc. Nursing. and 10.6.2011 for both B.Sc. Nursing courses.

The applications received after the closing date will not be accepted.

The Institute takes no responsibility for any delay in the receipt or loss of application or Admit Card/Roll No. in transit. Incomplete applications will not be entertained and no correspondence will be made in this regard.

The fact that an application form has been supplied on a certain date will not be accepted as an excuse for the late submission of the application. The supply of the application form does not ipso facto make the receiver eligible for admission to the selection tests.

The candidate belonging to Scheduled Castes/Tribes are required to furnish a certificate from the District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Collector/Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Collector/Ist Class Stipendiary Magistrate, *Sub Divisional Magistrate, Taluka Magistrate/Executive Magistrate/Extra Assistant Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency Magistrate, Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar, Sub Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/or his family normally resides. Administrator/Secretary to Administrator/Development Officer (Lakshdweep Islands) in support of their claims.

The candidates must supply an English Translation of their caste certificate along with the application.

*Not below the rank of 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate.

The applicants belonging to OBC are required to furnish a certificate as per instructions prescribed by the government of India.

No request for a change in category/subject applied for is entertained after the submission of the application to the Institute.

University of Delhi, DU announces admission test schedule for MSc programs, academic year 2011-13. However, 50% of the total available seats shall be reserved for DU students on basis of merit of marks obtained in B.Sc Hons examinations.

ASSO-CET to be held on 17 May 2011

ASSO-CET 2011 has been rescheduled from 1 May 2011 to 17 May 2011. This has been done so keeping in view of interests of candidates who are appearing for AIEEE 2011 Exam on May 1. Now the ASSO-CET shall be held on 17 May 2011 from 10 AM to 1 PM. The ASSO-CET 2011 results shall be declared on or before 15 June 2011.

Admission to Ph.D Programmes July 2011

CSIR-CDRI invites applications for admission to Ph.D. programmes in the relevant areas of research in the institute.

Eligibility Criteria

M.Sc or equivalent in Life sciences/Biotechnology/Chemical/Pharmaceutical sciences and qualified in CSIR-UGC-NET, ICMR, DBT examination for Junior Research Fellowship.

The fellowship should be valid as on the date of joining.

Candidates appearing in final exams in 2011 and who have cleared the above exams for JRF can also apply.

Application Procedure

Candidates need to fill up the on-line application form that is available at the institute’s website (till 18 May 2011).

After submitting the online application form, print out the ID ticket generated and mail it along with photograph, photocopies of certificates of date of birth, educational qualifications and proof for qualifying JRF to Scientist-in-Charge, Academy Affairs Unit, Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR), Chattar Manzil, Lucknow-226 001 latest by 25th May, 2011.

Applications without hard copy submission of documents will not be considered.

Selection process:

All applications will be screened by a committee and only those candidates who are found suitable will be called for interview/counseling at CDRI, Lucknow on 27 and 28 June, 2011.

The committee can set their own criteria for short listing the candidates. No TA will be paid by CDRI and candidates will have to make their own arrangements for 2-3 days stay at Lucknow.

The number of students to be selected will depend on the vacancies available with scientists at CDRI.

Re-Counseling Notification Uttarakhand PG Medical Entrance Test 2011

The notification regarding re-counseling for the Uttarakhand Post Graduate Medical Entrance Exam (UPGMEE) 2011 has been issued by the administering authority. The re-counseling is scheduled on April 23, 2011.

The re-counseling will be held at “Uttarakhand AIDS Control Society” office in the campus of Director General, Health & Family Welfare, 107, Chander Nagar, Dehradun.” The term and conditions of this counseling will be same as mentioned in UPGMEE-2011 information brochure.

However, the only change that brought is, instead of original allotment letter of MBBS course the aspirants may bring now an original certificate from the Principal of the concerned college indicating that the student was admitted in the MBBS course through Government quota seat by the state counseling board, and not from the management quota/NRI quota or any other quota.

The candidates who appeared on previous counseling on April 9, 2011 are requested to bring their registration slip along with all original documents for re-verification. The Post Graduate Entrance Examination 2011 was administered by Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun, on February 12, 2011 and the result of the exam was declared on February 14, 2011. The candidates who have secured 50% marks (General Category) & 40% marks (reserved category- SC, ST, OBC) were invited to participate in the counseling on 9th April 2011.

NDA & NA Exam on August 21, 2011

The National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II) 2011 will be conducted on August 21, 2011 for admission into Army, Navy and Air Force Wings. The UPSC New Delhi is administering authority for NDA & NA Examination. The courses will commence from June 30, 2012. Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than July 2, 1993 and not later than January 1, 1996 are eligible.

Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2011 as given in Appendix-V of the Commission's notice for the examination published in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar dated April 9, 2011.

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) New Delhi conducts Common Entrance Test CET for admission into under graduate programs in humanities and languages, social sciences and natural sciences. Tests for humanities and languages will be held June 3 and the last date for filling application forms will be May 4. SNAP Test Pattern

SNAP Test is held for admission into management programs offered by Symbiosis International University. The test is all India entrance examination conducted across more than 20 cities in India. It’s an objective type / multiple choice questions (mcqs) type entrance examination. The question paper consists of questions from following areas-

  1. General Awareness
  2. General English
  3. Analytical Reasoning
  4. Logical Reasoning
  5. Quantitative Aptitude

There provided 4 choice to chose against each question. 150 questions asked in total. For each wrongly marked answer – 0.25 marks awarded in Symbiosis Test also called SNAP Test.

SNAP General English part consists of 40 questions from verbal reasoning, comprehension and Grammar. For preparation of this section you can refer to CAT study material.

General Awareness also consists of 40 questions and covers areas like international affairs and current issues. Manorama Year Book, India Today and Newspapers like the Hindu will be help full for preparation of this section.

Quantitative section carries 40 questions from algebra, trigonometry, arithmetic, calculus, data interpretation and data sufficiency. For preparation of this section class 11th and class 12th test books are appropriate. However for DI and DS you can refer to CAT books.

Also SNAP Test aspirants are advised to practice SNAP Typical questions, as many as they can. Take numerous mock tests before actually appearing in the SNAP Test.

IIT JEE 2011 Exam Pattern

IIT JEE quite well famed for its pattern changing strategy on year to year basis. Here is exam pattern of IIT JEE 2011. This information is taken from different sources available on www.

In IIT JEE 2011, there were 10 sets for IIT-JEE 2011 "0 to 9". The order of subjects in both papers were the same – Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics

PAPER I -

Total No. of questions: 69
Total marks: 240
Order of the Questions (for all the sets): Physics(23) -> Chemistry(23) -> Maths(23)
Pattern of Paper-1:

Q.No.1 to 7 – Single Correct Choice Type (7 questions for 21 marks).
+3 for correct answer and -1 for wrong answer
Q.No. 8 to 11 – Multiple Correct Choice Type (4 questions for 16 marks).
+4 for correct answer with NO negatives
Q.No. 12 to 16 – Paragraph Type(5 questions for 15 marks). There were 2 paragraphs- one paragraph with 2 questions and the second one with 3 questions. All questions were of Single Correct Choice Type.
+3 for correct answer and -1 for wrong answer
Q.No.17 to 23- Integer Type (7 questions for 28 marks). Answers were of single digit (ie, 0 to 9) .
+4 for correct answer with NO negatives.

Paper II -

Paper 2 was different from paper 1 in terms of the total number of questions, type of questions and the difficulty level. For the first time Multiple Answer Type, Integer Answer Type and Matrix Match Type appeared in one paper.

Total No. of questions: 60
Total marks: 240
Order of the Questions (for all the sets): Physics(20) -> Chemistry(20) -> Maths(20)
Pattern of Paper-2:

Q.No.1 to 8 – Single Correct Choice Type (8 questions for 24 marks).
+3 for correct answer and -1 for wrong answer
Q.No. 9 to 12 – Multiple Correct Choice Type (4 questions for 16 marks).
+4 for correct answer with NO negatives. There was NO partial marking as well.
Q.No. 13 to 18 – Integer Type (6 questions for 24 marks). Answers were of single digit (i.e., 0 to 9) .
+4 for correct answer with NO negatives.
Q.No.19 & 20- Matrix Match Type (2 questions with 4 rows each – for 16 marks). There were 4 elements in the first column to be matched with 5 elements in the second column.
Each row carried 2 marks. There were NO negative marking.

Subject-wise Analysis of IIT-JEE 2011-

CHEMISTRY: Paper 1 - Difficulty Level: Moderate
Many questions in this part were designed to gauge the conceptual clarity of the test takers.

CHEMISTRY: Paper 2 - Difficulty Level: Tough
This paper was tougher than paper 1. Weightage wise the Physical > Organic > Inorganic formula is maintained. The complexity of Organic Chemistry portions made this interesting one.

PHYSICS: Paper 1 - Difficulty Level: Tough
This paper was a challenging one. Mechanics made the most part.

PHYSICS: Paper 2 - Difficulty Level: Moderate
The difficulty level of this paper was slightly less than paper 1 especially the Integer Answer Type.

MATHEMATICS: Paper 1 - Difficulty Level: Moderate
Few questions in Integer answer type require in-depth understanding of the concepts with firmness in solving problems. Trigonometry made a good portion in this paper; the questions on matrices required quick thinking to understand and solve the questions.

MATHEMATICS: Paper 2 - Difficulty Level: Tough
This paper required doing more calculations comparison to paper 1.

IIT JEE 2011 Exam held On 10 April 2011

IIT JEE 2011 examination for admission into IITs first year – first semester under graduate program held on 10 April 2011.According to sources around 4.85 lakh students across the country appeared in the examination. The examination was conducted 1,051 centers in 131 cities. Compared to last year, about 30000 more aspirants write exam this year. India has 15 IITs in which around 9600 seats are offered in under graduate program on the basis of IIT JEE 2011 AIR. Model Solution of IIT JEE 2011 examination paper shall be uploaded on official IIT JEE website on 15 may 2011.

Common Entrance Exam for DU BA Hons Journalism program

New Delhi: The University of Delhi (DU) plans to offer common entrance test for the B.A. (Hons.) Journalism course admission. The 5 DU Colleges which offer B.A. (Hons.) Journalism programs are Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, Kamala Nehru College, Lady Sri Ram College, Kalindi College and Maharaja Agrasen College. Admission into these colleges BA Hons Journalisn program should be based on performance in Common Entrance Test to be conducted on 19 June 2011. The application process shall be fully online. The first common entrance test for BA Hons Journalism admission shall be administered by Maharaja Agrasen College on the behalf of Delhi University (DU). the online application procedure for the test will be on the lines of the BBE, BBS and BFIA admissions.

GUJCET 2011 Today, 91,692 to take the test

GUJCET 2011: Gujarat Common Entrance Test for admission into first year and first semester of undergraduate engineering and medical degree programs commences today. About 91,692 students will appear for the test. GUJCET 2011 is offered under 2 groups GUJCET 2011 (Phy, Chem, Bio); GUJCET 2011 (Phy, Chem, Maths). A total of 1,523 students will appear for AB group (maths, physics, chemistry, biology). The administering authority for GUJCET 2011 Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board shall upload the answer booklet in official website. CLAT 2011 to be held on May 15

CLAT 2011 Common Law Aptitude Test (CLAT) is scheduled on 15 May 2011. CLAT 2011 question paper shall contain 200 questions, and an aspirant has to solve them in a two hours time. It is mandatory for an aspirant to score 140 marks to clear CLAT.

Pune student tops GATE exam with 91.33%

Gokul R form Pune secured top rank in the country in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2011, the scholarship and admission test for post graduate engineering and sciences programs offered in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Gokul obtained 91.33% marks, in one of the toughest entrance tests in the country. More than 5 lakh students appeared for GATE 2011 for admission into ME, M.Tech and MS courses in India. Gokul is a member of the youth wing of the International society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon). He is now keen to take admission into IIT Madras for specialization in microelectronics.
