Application Cost:

1 .Rs.300/- (Rs.150/- for SC/ST / PH) for M .Phil programme.

2. Rs.300/- (Rs.150/-for SC/ST/PH) for Ph.D programme respectively

in form of Demand Draft in any nationalized banks in favour of The Registrar, Periyar University, Salem Payable at Salem.

Other modes of payment are strictly not allowed. A self-addressed envelope for Rs.40/- of size 28X13 cms has to be enclosed to get the application by post. Separate request has to be made for each programme. The envelope requesting application form may be superscribed "Request for Application Form for M.Phil / Ph.D Admission". Candidates appearing for final semester/ year examination can also apply provided they satisfy the eligibility conditions for admission at the time of joining.

The SC/ST candidates have to produce attested copy of PG degree Certificate (or) Provisional Certificate (or) PG all semester mark statement and Community Certificate along with the demand draft.

Ph.D applications can be obtained and submitted throughout the year for both full-time and part-time programme. Registration is available four times in a year-January, April, July, October.

Punjabi University Patiala M.Phil / Ph.D Common Entrance Test CET

Punjabi University Patiala M.Phil / Ph.D Admission

The admission to M.Phil. courses and Ph.D. Programme during the academic session 2011- 2012 will be made on the basis of common Entrance Test.

Eligibility Criteria

For Ph.D. Programmes:

The candidates shall be admitted to Ph.D. Programme either directly or through M.Phil programme.

(i) Masters degree in the concerned/ allied subject (as determined by the Departmental Research Board) with 55% marks at Masters Degree and 50% marks at Bachelors Degree Level. (SC candidates will get 5% relaxation in post graduation Marks, as per rules). OR

(ii) M.Phil./M.Litt. Degree with B+ or equivalent. OR

(iii) In case of Defence Personnel who have obtained Masters Degree on the basis of staff college, registration will be allowed if the candidate has obtained at least 60% marks in the Master’s Degree. OR

(iv) Candidates who have passed C.A./I.C.W.A./Company Secretary Examinations are eligible for getting registered for Ph.D. Degree. OR

(v) All whole time teachers either of recognized private colleges or of Govt. Colleges who are serving within the jurisdiction of Punjabi University, Patiala with five years teaching experience are eligible for getting registered for Ph.D. Degree.

Application Form

The candidate shall apply for admission to the M.Phil courses or Ph.D. Programme on a prescribed form (FORM-I) which may be downloaded from the University website www.punjabiuniversity.ac.in .

The application form, duly filled, shall be submitted to the Co-ordinator, M.Phil./Ph.D Entrance Test Cell 2011, Department of Botany, Punjabi University, Patiala 147002 along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 1500/- (Rs. 1000/- for SC/ST candidates) in favour of the Registrar, Punjabi University, Patiala, payable at Patiala. In case of late submission of Application from late fees will be charged as already notified.

The documents must be submitted in the following sequence.

i) Bank Draft
ii) Entrance Test Form (FORM -I) and Admit card
iii) Two Self addressed duly stamped (Rs 5.00) 9" x 4" envelops for Admit Card and Result Card.
iv) Copy of SC/ST certificate if concession in Application fee is claimed.

Admission to Ph.D., M.Tech. and M.Sc. Programmes

Applications are invited for admission to Ph.D., M.Tech. and M.Sc. programs in various disciplines for the academic session 2011- 2012

Eligibility Criteria

1) Ph D programmes (Regular): Engineering Departments: Master’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology in relevant area with first class or minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) or CGPA 6.5 on 10 point scale.

Other Departments: Master’s degree in appropriate branch of Science/ Humanities/ Management with a first class or minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) or CGPA 6.5 on 10 point scale

M Tech (Full-Time) programmes: A valid GATE score alongwith Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate branch of Engineering/ Technology with a first class or minimum 60% Marks or CGPA of 6.50 (on 10 point scale) or equivalent. However, if the seats remain vacant, candidates without GATE score shall be considered.

Candidates sponsored by UGC/AICTE approved technical institutes; industries/R&D organizations/national laboratories having same academic qualifications as required for M Tech (Full- Time) and preferably two-years experience of Full-Time job are eligible to apply for M.Tech programme.

A valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR fellowship is not required.

For a foreign national candidate who applies through Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, or Indian Council of Cultural Relation, Govt. of India, are eligible to apply provided that they possess the same minimum qualifications as given for M Tech (Full-Time).

M Tech (Part-Time) programmes: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology in relevant allied discipline with minimum 60% marks or CGPA of 6.5 (on 10 point scale) and preferably two years of experience.

M Sc (Full-Time) programme: Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline with 60% aggregate marks or CGPA of 6.50 (on 10 point scale). For admission to M Sc in Physics, a pass in Mathematics at Bachelor’s level is compulsory.

Tech. degree will also be considered for admission to M.Sc. (Research) programme in Physics and Theoretical Computer Science, as part of an integrated Ph.D. programme.

At SNBNCBS, graduates with B.Sc. (Physics/Mathematics) / B.E. / B.Tech. degree will be considered for the integrated Post-B.Sc.-Ph.D. programme in subject areas mentioned above.

Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI)

 Applications are hereby invited from Engineering post-graduates for the award of fellowships under the DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme  for Ph.D. (DGFS- Ph.D.) for pursuing research in an Engineering discipline leading to the award of Ph.D. degree of HBNI. The terms and conditions of the Fellowships are:

1. The DGFS-PhD Fellowship is tenable for three years for doing Ph.D. in an Engineering discipline in one of the four R&D centres listed above.

2. The amount of Fellowship payable under the scheme is Rs.18000/- (likely to be increased) per month besides house rent allowance and medical benefits as per rules.

3. The selected Fellows will carry out research under the joint supervision of two guides, one having strength in basic research and the other in technology development.

4. After the award of the Ph.D., the DGFS-Ph.D. fellows will have the option to appear for selection under K.S. Krishnan Research Associateship (KSKRA) programme without going through further process of screening. KSKRAs are selected every year and paid a stipend of Rs.20,000/- (likely to be revised) + benefits for a maximum period of 2 years. Anytime during the 2nd year of associateship, subject to satisfactory performance, the KSKRAs will be absorbed in one of the R&D centres of DAE as above and appointed in the Grade Scientific Officer (D/E).

Eligibility Criteria

a: Qualifying Degree and other academic qualifications:
Candidates should possess M. E. / M. Tech. or equivalent degree in Mechanical / Chemical/ Metallurgical /Electrical/Electronics / Instrumentation or Computer engineering disciplines with minimum 60% Marks in B.E./B. Tech. and minimum of 60% marks in M.E./ M.Tech. or equivalent degree as per the Ordinance of the respective degree awarding University OR equivalent CGPI (converted to % Marks by multiplying with 100% if the CGPAs on x points scale).

b. Age limit: The candidates desirous of availing DGFS-Ph.D. Fellowship should have been born on or after January 1, 1983. Age limit is relaxable by three years for OBC and by Eve years for SC/ST applicants. The age limit for the candidates working as faculty in Engineering Colleges desirous of doing Ph.D. without the fellowship grant is 40 years.

c. Nationality: Applicant should be an Indian citizen.

Any candidate who has passed the Master’s examination in the concerned subject with a score of at least 55% (50% for SC/ST Category) marks in aggregate, or have appeared in the final year examination of Master’s degree in the subject concerned from Panjab University or any other University (approved by the appropriate Academic Bodies of P.U.), shall also be eligible to appear for the Ph.D. Entrance Test.

For Business Management

Any candidate who has obtained Master’s degree with not less than 55% (50% for SC/ST Category) marks in the aggregate, from Panjab University or from any other University (approved by the Academic Council) in anyone of the following subjects: -

(i) Commerce or Management OR

(ii) Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Sociology, Psychology, Public
Administration, Operations Research, Social Work, Engineering and
Laws. OR

(iii) Any subject other than those mentioned in (i) and (ii) above provided that the candidate has either not less than 5 years’ work experience at the managerial (including administrative service) level or is a member of the Faculty in the Department of University Business School, Panjab University with not less than 5 years’ experience of teaching postgraduate classes.

University of Rajasthan (UOR)

Applications are invited (in Form A) for admission to M.Phil. & Ph.D. Programmes in different subjects (as specified on University website www.uniraj.ernet.in or www.uniraj.ac.in ).

As per new rules, admissions to these programmes will be made through an entrance test (Uniraj-MPAT) for each subject / discipline.

Eligibility Criteria

Students willing to seek admission in affiliated colleges are required to take Uniraj-MPAT Test.

Students who have qualified in UGC/CSIR NET/SLET (conducted by Rajasthan State only)/ GATE/ Teacher fellowship holder will be exempted from the Test.

For M.Phil. programme, teachers permanently appointed prior to 1991-92 and for Ph.D. programme permanent teachers appointed on a substantive basis with three years of continuous service on regular pay scale are also exempted from Uniraj-MPAT. However, students/ teachers exempted from the Test are required to fill in Form B.

Students awaiting result of qualifying exam,ination are also eligible for appearing in Uniraj-MPAT 2010, they will have to submit the result by August 10, 2010

For M.Tech. Programs

For admission to M.Tech. Programmes the applicant must have passed the qualifying examination of Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology from a recognized University with minimum 55% marks (or equivalent cumulative grade point index) or any other qualifying degree examination considered as equivalent by Nirma University. (With minimum 55% marks or equivalent CPI).

For sponsored category the applicants must have 55% of aggregate marks or an equivalent cumulative grade point index in the qualifying examination and at least 2 years of experience in the concerned field after passing qualifying examination on the date of interview of admission. He / She should produce certificate from the sponsoring organization in the Performa provided in the application form along with experience certificate, last pay certificate and provident fund slip.

For all categories if applicant has passed the qualifying examination from University other than Nirma University he/she will be required to obtain eligibility certificate from Nirma University. The arrangement for obtaining the same will be made on the spot on payment of Rs. 500/-.

For Ph.D. Program:

The candidates holding Master Degree or equivalent with 60% or equivalent grade from the recognized university will be considered eligible for registration for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the relevant Programme.

M Sc (Plant Biotechnology)

For the Masters programme in Plant Biotechnology the minimum eligibility is a Bachelor’s degree in the Sciences, preferably the Life Sciences, with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/ semesters of the qualifying examinations), wherever marks are awarded, or a minimum cumulative grade point average of 6.75 on a 10 point scale.

M B A (Infrastructure)
Stream I: Bachelor’s degree with mathematics as a subject till Class XII.
Stream II: Graduates with a minimum of two years experience in any of the following sectors namely government, regulatory bodies, industry, research/academic institutions, donor/consultant organizations.

M A (Public Policy & Sustainable Development)

Master’s in Sustainable Development Projects

M Tech (Renewable Energy Engineering and Management)
A Bachelor’s degree in any branch of engineering or M Sc in Physics with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 6.75 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by TERI University, wherever letter grades are awarded, or 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/ semesters of the qualifying examinations), wherever marks are awarded. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) awards fellowships every year for pursuing M Tech programs, based on a written test. Candidates who get this fellowship will also be eligible.

M Sc (Economics) – with a specialization in Environmental & Resource Economics
3-year Bachelor’s degree in Economics (50%) or Mathematics/ Physics/ Engineering (60%) with Mathematics and English as compulsory courses till 10+2 or equivalent.

PG Diploma by distance learning (Renewable Energy programme)
A degree in Mathematics/Science/Technology or equivalent with minimum cumulative grade point average of 6.0 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by TERI University, wherever letter grades are awarded, or 55% marks in aggregate (of all years/semesters of the qualifying examinations) wherever marks are awarded.

The requisite payment of Rs 1250/- can be made through credit card/ direct bank debit through a secure gateway. Payment can also be done by sending a demand draft subsequent to on-line registration.
On-line registrations will be open till 5.00 p.m. on 5 May 2009.

The applicant must have studied mathematics at the higher secondary level or should be able to demonstrate equivalent mathematical ability.
For M.Phil / Ph.D.:
M.A./M.Sc in Economics/ M.Stat./M.Sc. (Physics or Mathematics or Environmental Science or Operations Research)/ M.B.A./M.Tech./M.E./B.Tech./B.E. with at least 55% aggregate marks for Economics discipline and 60% aggregate marks for other disciplines. The applicant must have studied Mathematics at the higher secondary level or should be able to demonstrate equivalent mathematical ability.

Second class return rail fare by the shortest route from the place of residence will be paid to the candidates interviewed. The decision of the selection committee will be final.

Post Doctoral and Doctoral Programmes: ( PDF, Ph. D) – 2010

The Institute’s main emphasis is on Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Processing Technology, Environmental Science & Engineering and Computational Materials Engineering, Pure and Applied Sciences.

Eligibility: For Post Doctoral Fellow, a Ph.D degree is mandatory. For Ph.D, the candidates should have Master Degree in appropriate branch of engineering with minimum CGPA of 6.5 or 60 % from a recognized institute/ university. First class Master Degree in basic and applied sciences will also be considered. A valid GATE/NET score is necessary for scholarship for candidates without an M.Tech. Degree.

1. M.S / Ph.D programmes in Science and Engineering

2. Integrated Ph.D. Programme in Materials Science, Chemical Science and Biological Science. The Integrated Ph.D. programme in Biological Science will be independently offered in the disciplines of ‘Evolutionary and Organismal Biology’ and, ‘Molecular Biology and Genetics’.
Eligibility: For M.S / Ph.D programmes:

Students who have qualified in NET-JRF under CSIR/UGC fellowship schemes or DBT/ICMR - JRF or GATE / JEST / any other equivalent national level exam.

For Integrated Ph.D. Programme:

Materials Science: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science. Those with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with an aptitude towards scientific research will also be considered. Candidates are expected to have sound knowledge in the fundamentals of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Chemical Science: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science with Chemistry as a major.

Biological Science:

a) Evolutionary and Organismal Biology: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/Statistics. Those with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with an aptitude towards scientific research will also be considered.

b) Molecular Biology and Genetics: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science.

For all the above Int. Ph.D programmes, candidates should have a minimum of 55% marks at the Bachelor’s level. Candidates who are appearing for the final examination this year can also apply.
