The AICTE has introduced Tuition Fee Waiver scheme for women, economically backward and physically handicapped meritorious students in technical institutions offering Bachelors programmes in Engineering, Pharmacy, HMCT, Architecture and Applied Arts and Crafts and Diploma Programmes of three years duration in all disciplines (Detailed scheme can be downloaded from AlCTE`s website www.aicte.ernet.in) The Institution opting this scheme shall be allowed to make 10% more admissions than its sanctioned intake and in lieu of this shall give tuition fee waiver to equal no. of the candidates which are permitted to be admitted.

The Waiver is limited to the tuition fee as approved by the State Level Fee Committee for self-financing institutions and by the Government for the Govt. and Govt. Aided Institutions. All other Fee except tuition fees have to be paid by the beneficiary. Under the Scheme, tuition fee waiver shall be given to two woman candidates, three economically weaker students (Annual income of Parents/Guardians less than Rs. 2.50 lakhs from all sources) and one physically handicapped student based on merit. In the event of non-availability of students in a specific category as above, the benefit will be given to any other candidate of other categories according to merit.




Institutions opting this scheme will give scholarships invariably whether seats are filled up or not and the name of the students along with Cheque No. & Date to whom scholarship has been given shall be intimated by the institutions to the Directorate office within 15 days from last cut off date of admissions, failing which heavy penalty shall be imposed or action as deemed fit shall be initiated.
Institutions interested in implementing the above scheme of AICTE for the session 2008-09 may give their option to the Director Technical Education, Haryana SCO 38-39, Sector-17, Chandigarh, upto 31 /07/08, confirmation received after 31 /07/08 shall not be considered.

The Counselling for Tamilnadu Common Admissions 2008 is scheduled as per the table given below. Individual communications are being sent to candidates calling them to appear for counselling. Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the following courses offered to the Anna Centre for public Affairs, University of Madras under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for the academic year 2008 – 09



1. M.A. Public Administration {Tamil Medium} Duration of the Course: 4 Semesters (Two Years)

2. Five Year Integrated Post Graduate Course in Post Modern Development Administration - Duration of the Course: 10 Semesters (Five Years)

Eligibility: 1. For M.A. Public Administration:
Any Degree from University of Madras or Any other examination of another university / institution accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto

2. For Integrated Post Graduate Course:
Pass in Plus two Examination conducted by the Government of Tamilnadu or Any other examination of another institution accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto.


Application procedure: Application form and Prospectus can be obtained at the information Centre in person or by post on payment of Rs.200/- (Rs.100/- for SC/ST candidates on production of Xerox copy of the community certificate) through demand draft obtained from any Nationalised Bank and drawn in favour of "The Registrar, University of Madras, Chennai" along with a requisition letter with clear postal address.

Persons interested to get application form by Post, have to send a Demand Draft of Rs.250/- (Rs.200/- for cost of application and Rs.50/- for Postal charges) and Rs.150/- (in case of SC/ST candidates i.e. Rs,100/- for cost of application and Rs.50/-for postal charges).
