National Institute of Immunology

Courses offered: Admission to Ph.D. Programme for the Academic Year 2009-2010

National Institute of Immunology (NII) invites applications for its Ph.D. programme. Cutting-edge research at the Institute encompasses broad interdisciplinary areas - 1) Chemical Biology 2) Genetics & Cell 3) Immunity & Infection 4) Molecular & Cellular Biology, 5) Reproduction & Development, 6) Structural & Computational Biology.

The programme will start on 15th July, 2009.

The Institute will provide a Fellowship stipend of Rs.12000/14000/- per month depending on the degree qualifications.
Eligibility: A. M.Sc. in any branch of Science (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics) or M.Tech. or M.B.B.S. or M.V.Sc. or M.Pharm. or equivalent qualification recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, is required.

B. First Division or equivalent grade or at least 60% of aggregate scores in all major examinations from Senior Secondary Certificate (10 + 2) onwards is required.

C. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination this year may also apply; they will be admitted provisionally pending satisfactory fulfillment of the above requirements.
Application procedure: A. Applications can be sent online or should be TYPED / HAND WRITTEN IN CAPITALS LETTERS on A4 size plain paper in the format given below.

B. Items 3 and 6 in the format should be typed as shown in the Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.

C. Each page of the application form should be SIGNED by the candidate.

D. Completed applications MUST be accompanied with the crossed DEMAND Draft for Rs. 100/- of 6 months validity in favour of `Director, National Institute of Immunology`, payable at Canara Bank, Jit Singh Marg, New Delhi. A Demand Draft for Rs.50/- is acceptable from SC/ST candidates, provided relevant documentary proof is enclosed. The drafts are not refundable.

E. Copies of the certificates or mark sheets SHOULD NOT BE enclosed with the application.

F. TWO recent passport size PHOTOGRAPHS should be enclosed. One of these should be signed by the candidate and pasted on the application form.

G. Two self-addressed stamped (Rs.5/-) envelopes of 10cm x22cm should also be enclosed.

I. Incomplete applications in any respect will be summarily rejected & no correspondence in this regard will be entertained. Applications received after the closing date will not be entertained on any ground including postal delays. The decisions of the Admission Committee will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

Selection Procedure : A. Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology

Courses offered: Ph.D.Programme

Director, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, invites applications from candidates who are bonafide Indian citizens and having consistently good academic record. Candidates should have strong motivation to pursue research in modern biology leading to a Ph.D degree. The projects offered for Ph.D would be in the broad areas of (i) Biotechnology and Biomedicine (ii) Genetics and Evolution (iii) Cell Biology and Development (iv) Molecular Biology (v) Biochemistry and Biophysics (vi) Bioinformatics and Theoretical Biology.

Eligibility: 1. Should have an M.Sc. degree in any area of biological/physical/chemical sciences including mathematics and qualified in the CSIR-UGC (NET) examination for Junior Research Fellowship. The Fellowship Certificate should be valid as on the date of joining. (Candidates qualified only for Lectureship in CSIR-UGC (NET) examination need not apply.

2. Candidates qualified in ICMR-JRF examination under Life Sciences may apply. Admission will be subject to their qualifying in the CCMB written test/interview and award of Fellowship by ICMR.

3. Candidates qualified in DBT-JRF examination can also apply.

4. Engineering (B.E. & B.Tech.) or B.Pharm graduates with Biotechnology as a subject of study and have qualified in GATE examination with a minimum of 85 percentile may also apply for award of Research Fellowship subject to their qualifying in the written test/interview and award of fellowship by CSIR. The GATE certificate should be valid as on the date of joining.

5. Students with non-life sciences background (having master degree in Mathematics/ Statistics/ Physics/Chemistry and B.Tech in Computer Sciences or other Engineering discipline) are specifically encouraged to apply, if they have high desire and motivation in doing interdisciplinary research in Life Sciences.

6. Students with MBBS with first division may also apply. Selected candidates should also qualify/obtain the Senior Research Fellowship conducted by the Human Resource Development Group, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, New Delhi, to pursue PhD in CCMB.

7. Upper age limit is 28 years as on 8.12.2008 which is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/ Women/Physically Handicapped candidates.

University of Delhi - Professional Skills Project (Admission)

Professional Skills Project

The University of Delhi invites applications for the following Professional and Technical Certification Courses designed in Collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) under the Professional Skills Project organized by the Campus of Open Learning.

Details of the Courses

The duration of each course shall be six months including two months of internship with industry. The following certificate programmes are being offered.

4 Retail Management
5 Automobile Service and Management





Eligibility

All the students enrolled with the School of Open Learning and Non-Collegiate Women`s Education Board, University of Delhi are eligible to apply for these courses. The students enrolled with different Colleges and Departments, affiliated to University of Delhi can also apply for these courses subject to availability of seats.
