Special Class Railway Apprentices Examination, 2010
The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Special Class Railway Apprentices Examination, 2010 on 19th December, 2010 for recruitment to the Special Class Apprentices in the Mechanical Department of Indian Railways. The examination will be held at various centres across the country.
Eligibility Criteria
(a) Age Limits: Not less than 17 years and not more than 21 years on 1st August, 2010.
The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes / Other Backward Classes and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.
(b) Educational Qualifications :
Must have passed in the first or second division, the intermediate or an equivalent Examination of a University or Board approved by the Government of India with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.

(c) Physical Standards:

For all courses, where MBBS/BDS is an eligible requirement, the candidates who have made more than one attempt (i.e. more than one failure, compartment or re-appear) during their MBBS/BDS cares, are not eligible.
For DM/M.Ch courses, the candidates who have made more than one attempt in MBBS/MD/MS career are not eligible. However, those belonging to SC/ST with upto two attempts in their MBBS / BDS career will be eligible for MD/MS/MDS & House Job in Oral Health Sciences.

For all courses, where MBBS/BDS is an eligible requirement, the candidates who have made more than one attempt (i.e. more than one failure, compartment or re-appear) during their MBBS/BDS cares, are not eligible.
For DM/M.Ch courses, the candidates who have made more than one attempt in MBBS/MD/MS career are not eligible. However, those belonging to SC/ST with upto two attempts in their MBBS / BDS career will be eligible for MD/MS/MDS & House Job in Oral Health Sciences.
How To Apply
A candidate applying for more than one subject/ course except category- 1 & 2 is required to submit separate application complete in all respect for each subject / course.
The candidates may apply in the form downloadable (for Sr.No. 1 to 4) at http://pgimer.nic.in together with requisite fee by Demand Draft in the name of Director, PGI.
The prescribed application forms along with prospectus (Brochure of Information) are also available from the Office of the Registrar either personally on payment of Rs.500/- for GENERAL/ OBC/OPH category and Rs.400/- for SC/ST at the counter (Kairon Block, Room No. 309 ) from 10.30 AM to 12.30 P.M and from 2.30 PM to 3.30 PM on all working days except Saturdays ( On Saturdays, forms will be available from 10.30 AM to 12.00 Noon) OR
By Post for which the request must be accompanied with a self addressed thick envelope of size 24 X 15 cm bearing postage stamps of Rs. 50/- and Bank Draft preferably from any SBI branch payable at SBI Medical Institute Branch (Code No.1524) Chandigarh for GENERAL OBC/OPH Rs.500/- and for SC/ST Rs.400/- (indicating category i.e. General or SC/ST) dawn in favour of the Director, PGI Chandigarh.
However, prospectus for DM / M.Ch. will be available for Rs.500/- only as there is no reservation of the same.

Detailed time table for Theory Examination will be published in the University web-site and will be sent to the Colleges in due course. As far as Practical Examinations are concerned, candidates are instructed to keep in touch with the Principals of the respective colleges for the exact schedule and slots.
Candidates presently undergoing the course in the College and those who have completed the course but having arrears are informed to get the examination application from the college concerned.
Applications will be available in the first week of September 2010 at the respective colleges. All candidates should submit the application only through the Principal of the respective colleges with necessary fees. No application should be sent directly to the Controller of Examinations.
Candidates who completed their course in colleges coming under Zones VI to X (Salem, Coimbatore, Trichy, Karaikudi & Tirunelveli)
will have only a limited number of examination centres for the theory examinations and they have to write the examinations only at that centre. The examination centres for these candidates will be notified in due course.
