Eligibility Criteria

The minimum requirement for admission to the Programme is a three-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline from a recognised university. Candidates who expect to complete the final part of their degree examinations by June 15, 2011, can also apply.

Application Procedure

Applicants also have to apply (online) separately for XIMB programme at: www.ximb.ac.in Upon successfully filling the online application form, the Payment Advice Form can be downloaded. The applicant must take a printout of the same payment advice form and mail it to the Admissions Office, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar-751013, accompanied by the application fee (non-refundable) in one of the following ways:

Original Bank Remittance Slip, after depositing Rs.1000/- (in cash) at any State Bank of India core branch in the Current A/c No. 30834687536 of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar;

OR

A Demand Draft for Rs.1000/- made out in favour ofXavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar.

On receipt of the DD or Bank Remittance Slip / Counterfoil for the required amount and the Payment Advice Form, the Bulletin 2011 will be mailed to the applicant. The last date for applying online is December 5, 2010.

Selection Process: The Institute will decide the section-wise as well as total cut-off marks which will be used for short-listing the candidates to be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

GD & PI will be held in Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.

Candidates will have to meet their own travel expenses for appearing in the GD & PI. The final selection will be made on the basis of the candidate's performance in the XAT as well as in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview (which factors in the past academic record and relevant work experience). The selected candidates will be informed by mail by the first week of April 2011.

Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2011

CEED is a qualifying examination for the following postgraduate programmes in design:

1. Master of Design Programmes:

IISc Bangalore: M.Des. in Product Design and Engineering

IIT Bombay: M.Des. in i) Industrial Design, ii) Visual Communication, iii) Animation, iv) Interaction Design, v) Mobility and Vehicle Design

IIT Delhi: M.Des. in Industrial Design

IIT Guwahati: M.Des

IIT Kanpur: M.Des. in Industrial Design

2. Ph.D Programmes in Design in some of the above institutes

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must either have completed or be expecting to complete any of the following, by July 2011:

i) Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design / Interior Design, or equivalent

ii) Professional Diploma of NID / Professional Diploma of CEPT (5 year program) or equivalent

iii) B.F.A. (4 year professional programme, after 10+2)

iv) G.D. Art (5 year programme, after 10th) followed by one year professional experience

v) Master's degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications

Note: All Degree/Diploma/Professional courses must satisfy 10+2+4 pattern or more

Before applying for CEED, candidates must assure themselves that they are eligible to seek admission to the specific programme they are interested in.

There is no age limit and a candidate can appear in CEED any number of times.

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER)

Applications are invited from highly motivated students for admission to the Ph.D. programme beginning in January, 2011 at IISER-TVM.

Eligibility Criteria

Biological Sciences


Masters degree in Biological/Chemical/Physical Sciences or MBBS. 60% marks or equivalent is desirable. Qualifying in one of the following national level tests with validity as on 1st of January 2011: CSIR-UGC-JRF/ DBT-JRF/ GATE/ ICMR JRF. The second requirement (qualifying in a national test) is waived for applicants interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in ecological sciences. They will however be required to appear for a written screening test at IISER -TVM and only those shortlisted based on the screening will be allowed to appear for the interview.

Chemical Sciences

Masters degree in Chemistry. 60% marks or equivalent is desirable. Qualifying in one of the following national level tests with validity as on 1st of January 2011: CSIR-UGC-JRF/ GATE.

Physical Sciences

Masters degree in Physical Sciences, Engineering or Technology in areas closely related to the interests of the physics faculty at IISER TVM. 60% marks or equivalent is desirable. Qualifying in one of the following national level tests with validity as on 1st of January 2011: JEST/GATE/CSIRUGC-JRF. Applicants with M. Tech need a GATE score valid as of 1st January 2010
Mathematical Sciences

Master’s degree in Mathematics / Statistics / in a relevant area of science with desired CPI of 6.5 (or 60% of marks) and a valid CSIR UGC-JRF/NBHM/GATE/INSPIRE (PhD) as on 1st January 2011.
Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology in a relevant area with desired CPI of 6.5 (or 60% of marks) with valid GATE score as on 1st January 2010.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology in a relevant area with a desired CPI of 7.0 (or 65% of marks), an appearance in the Indian National Math Olympiad (INMO) in class XI or XII, and a valid CSIRUGC-JRF/ NBHM/ GATE/ INSPIRE (PhD) as on 1st January 2011.
Eligibility criterion will be relaxed by CPI of 0.5 (or 5% of marks) for SC/ST candidates.
