Eligibility Criteria

For GDPD:

Admission is open to students who have passed or who will appear for qualifying examinations under the Higher Secondary (10+2), or equivalents like AISSCE/ IB/ ICSE etc. Candidates passing the Institute’s admission tests/interviews will be admitted, subject to passing their qualifying examinations before they join the Institute. Competence in technical and related subjects will normally be considered an advantage. The medium of instruction for UG programme at NID is English.

Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) as on June 1, 2011.

For PGDPD:

Candidates having a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent including those who will be appearing for the qualifying examinations during the academic year (2010-11) in the areas mentioned against each discipline are eligible to apply. Those applying for two programmes should send separate application form for each programme. One cannot apply for more than two PG Programmes. The medium of instruction for PG Programme at NID is English.

Upper age limit for candidates is 30 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) as on June 1, 2011.

Application Procedure

For General Category: Forms can be downloaded from NID’s website www.nid.edu/downloads and sent along with a DD of Rs 1500/- drawn on any nationalized bank in favour of ‘National Institute of Design’ payable at Ahmedabad. Forms can also be obtained from select branches of Bank of India (listed below) on payment of Rs.1,500/- towards the cost of the form plus Rs.50/- as bank charges.

Forms can also be obtained from select branches of Bank of India on payment of Rs.1500/- towards the cost of the form plus Rs.50/- as bank charges w.e.f 14th October, 2010.

For Reserved Category: Forms at concessional rates to reserved categories are available only from Admissions Office, NID, Ahmedabad. These forms can be obtained from Admissions Office directly by sending a Demand Draft drawn on any nationalized bank in favour of ‘National Institute of Design’ payable at Ahmedabad for Rs.750/-.

The applicant should also send in an attested copy of the relevant certificate from competent authority and a self addressed envelope of 9” x 12” size with Rs.40/- stamps affixed.

The envelope should be marked with ‘NID ADMISSIONS 2011’.

Eligibility Criteria

Ph.D. in Engineering:
For admission to the Ph.D. Programme in Engineering Disciplines, a candidate must satisfy one of the following criteria:

1. Masters degree in the relevant branch of Engineering with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60% of marks.

2. B. Tech. degree from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with a minimum CPI of 7.0.

Ph.D. in Sciences:

For admission to the Ph.D. Programme in Science Disciplines, a candidate must satisfy one of the following criteria:

1. Masters degree in a Science subject with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.

2. Masters degree in Engineering/ Technology with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.

3. B.Tech. from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with a minimum CPI of 7.0.

Ph.D. in Economics and Philosophy:
For admission to the Ph.D. Programme in Economics and Philosophy, a candidate must satisfy one of the following criteria:

1. Masters degree in Arts/ Commerce with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent. Masters degree in Science/ Engineering/ Agriculture/ Environment Sciences/ International Business with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks may be considered for research areas consistent with the academic background and special interests.

2. B.Tech. from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with a minimum CPI of 7.0.

How To Apply

Duly filled Application Form, Statement of Purpose and two Letters of Recommendation (sealed by the referee) should be submitted by post in one envelope. Application forms can be downloaded from institute website www.iiti.ac.in

Filled in application forms complete with copies of mark sheets/ certificates and other testimonials should be sent to the Convener, Ph.D. Admissions, Indian Institute of Technology Indore, M-Block, IET, DAVV Campus, Khandwa Road, Indore, 452017, M.P., to reach on or before October 31, 2010.

Candidates should send the completed application in one envelope and on top of it write: `Application for Ph.D. admission in the Discipline of _________` .

Candidates applying for more than one discipline should submit a separate application for each discipline. There is no Application Fees.

Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB)

Eligibility Criteria

The minimum requirement for admission to the Programme is a three-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline from a recognised university. Candidates who expect to complete the final part of their degree examinations by June 15, 2011, can also apply.

Application Procedure

Applicants also have to apply (online) separately for XIMB programme at: www.ximb.ac.in Upon successfully filling the online application form, the Payment Advice Form can be downloaded. The applicant must take a printout of the same payment advice form and mail it to the Admissions Office, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar-751013, accompanied by the application fee (non-refundable) in one of the following ways:

Original Bank Remittance Slip, after depositing Rs.1000/- (in cash) at any State Bank of India core branch in the Current A/c No. 30834687536 of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar;

OR

A Demand Draft for Rs.1000/- made out in favour ofXavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar.

On receipt of the DD or Bank Remittance Slip / Counterfoil for the required amount and the Payment Advice Form, the Bulletin 2011 will be mailed to the applicant. The last date for applying online is December 5, 2010.

Selection Process: The Institute will decide the section-wise as well as total cut-off marks which will be used for short-listing the candidates to be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

GD & PI will be held in Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.

Candidates will have to meet their own travel expenses for appearing in the GD & PI. The final selection will be made on the basis of the candidate's performance in the XAT as well as in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview (which factors in the past academic record and relevant work experience). The selected candidates will be informed by mail by the first week of April 2011.
