ISAT-2012 Schedule

ISAT 2012 examination will be held on Saturday, 21st April 2012 between 09:00 AM to 12:00 Noon (IST)

ISAT 2012 Exam Pattern

The question paper will be of objective type and will consist of three separate sections on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The detailed syllabi based on which ISAT-2012 will be conducted, for the three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will be included in the ISAT-2012 Brochure.

ISAT 2012 Application Form - How to Apply

Candidates can apply on-line only. The on-line application form is available from 10:00 AM on 1st November 2011 to 11:30 PM on 31st December 2011 at the IIST website. Candidates will be guided at this stage about how to complete the application process, remit examination fee etc.

ISAT-2012 Exam Centres

ISAT-2012 is planned to be conducted in the following 22 cities of India:

ISAT 2012 Examination Fee

Students desirous of appearing in ISAT-2012 shall have to pay examination fee as under:
GEN/OBC male candidates: Rs.600
SC/ST/PD and all female candidates: Rs.300

ISAT-2012 Eligibility

Candidates must make sure that they satisfy all the eligibility criteria given below for appearing in ISAT-2012:

[Categories : GEN - General, OBC - Other Backward Class, SC - Scheduled Caste, ST - Scheduled Tribe, PD- Physically Disabled]

1. Citizenship: The candidate has to be an Indian citizen to apply for ISAT-2012.

2. Date of Birth: Candidates belonging to GEN and OBC categories should be born on or after 1st October 1987, while those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories should be born on or after 1st October 1982.

3. Minimum Percentage of Marks in Class X or equivalent examination: Candidates belonging to GEN and OBC categories must have secured at least 70% marks in aggregate in their Class X or equivalent examination, while those belonging to SC,ST and PD categories must have secured at least 60% marks in aggregate in their Class X or equivalent examination.

4. Minimum Percentage of Marks in 10 + 2 or equivalent examination: Candidates belonging to GEN and OBC categories must secure at least 70% marks in the aggregate in their Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) papers in their Qualifying Examination (QE), while those belonging to SC,ST, and PD categories must secure at least 60% marks in the aggregate in their PCM papers in their QE.

5. Year of first appearance for final Qualifying Examination (QE) should be 2011 or 2012.

6. Year of attaining the required percentage of mark in QE should be 2011 or 2012 (For candidates appearing in 2012, results should be available on or before Ist July 2012)

RESERVATION OF SEATS

As per Government of India rules applicable to Central Educational Institution(CEI) candidates belonging to certain categories are admitted to seats reserved for them based on relaxed criteria. These categories are:

Scheduled Castes (SC) - 15%
Scheduled Tribes (ST) - 7.5%
Other Backward Castes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) - 27%
Physically Disabled(PD) candidates - 3% Horizontal reservation

Admission to MBA in Petroleum & Energy Management

Applications are invited for admission to 2 year MBA in Petroleum & Energy Management 2012

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must have:

1. Minimum 60% in aggregate (55% for SC/ST) in Class 10, Class 12. (Copies of passing certificates and Mark-sheets to be attached with the Application Receipt)

2. Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering / Technology (4 years duration course after 10+2) with 65% marks or C.P.I. of 7.0. Mathematics must be one of the subjects in 10+2. Bachelors Degree must have AICTE recognition. (Photocopy of degree or provisional degree and Mark-sheets of all semesters/years to be attached with the ApplicationReceipt)

3. Qualification either in CAT 2011, or GMAT (After June 2011) (Copy of Admit Card to be attached along with the Application Receipt)

4. Applicants fulfilling the above criteria will be shortlisted based on merit for selection process which will comprise of Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

5. The meritorious academic performance of the candidate will get due weightage in final selection process. Not all those satisfying the minimum requirement are likely to be shortlisted.

Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Joint Entrance Examination (IIT JEE) 2012

Admission to Under Graduate Courses in IITs

Eligibility

Candidates must make sure that they satisfy all the eligibility conditions given below for appearing in IIT-JEE 2012:

Date of Birth

General (GE) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) category candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1987. Those born earlier are not eligible to appear in IIT-JEE 2012.

Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and those with Physical Disability (PD) must have been born on or after October 1, 1982. SC/ST/PD candidates born before October 1, 1982 are not eligible to appear in IIT-JEE 2012.

The date of birth as recorded in the high school/ first Board/ Pre-University certificate will be accepted. If the certificate does not mention thedate of birth, a candidate must submit along with the application, an authenticated document indicating the date of birth.

Year of Passing Qualifying Examination (QE)

To appear in IIT-JEE 2012, a candidate must have either passed the QE for the first time, on or after October 1, 2010 or appearing for the first time in 2012. Those who are going to appear in the QE later than September 30, 2012 are not eligible to appear in IIT-JEE 2012.

The year of passing the QE will be determined based on the examination he/she passed the earliest out of the qualifying examinations listed below. In case the applicant passed more than one QE or attempted successfully same QE more than once, the year of the first successful QE/attempt will be used to determine the eligibility for IIT-JEE 2012.

The qualifying examinations are listed below:
The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized central/ state Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.

Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.

Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.

General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London / Cambridge / Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

H.S.C. vocational examination.

Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.

A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a state board of technical education of at least 3 year duration.

Any Public School/Board/University examination in India or in any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

In case the relevant QE is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination at an earlier level.

Minimum Percentage of Marks in QE

Candidates belonging to GE and OBC categories must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate in QE. SC, ST and PD candidates must secure at least 55% marks in aggregate in QE.

Number of JEE Attempts

A candidate can attempt JEE maximum two times in consecutive years irrespective of whether or not he/she passed QE. Those who have attempted JEE in 2010 or earlier are NOT ELIGIBLE to appear in IIT-JEE 2012.

Schedule of IIT-JEE 2012

The examination will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2012 as per the schedule given below:

Paper 1: 09.00 to 12.00 hrs (IST)


Paper 2: 14.00 to 17.00 hrs (IST)

The schedule will remain unaltered even if the above date is declared a public holiday.

Type of Examination
There will be two question papers, each of three hours duration. Both the question papers will consist of three separate sections on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The questions will be of objective type, designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.

The answers for each of the questions are to be marked on a separate, specially designed, machine-gradable sheet of paper (ORS – Optical Response Sheet). While answering each of the questions the candidate is expected to darken the bubble(s) against correct answer(s) using black ball point pen only. In some sections, incorrect answers may be awarded negative marks.
