Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science

Applications are invited from interested Indian nationals for admission to the post-B.Sc. Integrated Ph.D in Chemical Sciences, conducted by the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata beginning from July 2009

Eligibility: Applicants must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in Chemistry-honours with Physics and Mathematics as subsidiaries or 55% marks in aggregate in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics for Universities that do not offer honours degree. Candidates in latter case should clearly mention "Honours degree not provided" in their applications. Those who have appeared in the qualifying examination may also apply but their application will be tentative subject to securing the required

Application procedure: Applications in prescribed format (available from dispatch section of the Association on any working day between 12 noon to 4 P.M. or could be downloaded from the above website) along with attested copies of mark-sheets and certificates from Class - X onwards, with envelope superscribed " PBIR-Chemical Sciences, 2009" should reach the Co-ordinator, Integrated Ph.D Programme, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Jadavpur, Kolkata - 700 032 not later than 5.00 P.M. of April 01, 2009. Applications received after due date will be summarily rejected. Interim queries will not be entertained.

Initial shortlisted candidates whose names appeared in the institute website but have not received the Admit Card/Call Letter from IACS before the examination date are advised to appear at the written entrance test with appropriate photo-identity proof.

Admission Process : Short-listed applicants will be required to appear for a written test containing multiple-choice questions. Further short-listed candidates on the basis of the written test will be called for an interview, out of which a maximum of ten candidates will be selected for admission. List of successful candidates will be displayed on the website of the institute. Outstation candidates called for interview will be reimbursed with Sleeper Class railway fare by the shortest route provided they are selected and finally join the course. Admitted students will be entitled to a stipend of Rs. 9000/- p.m. (fixed) for the first two years. Accommodation will be provided for outstation candidates. All students getting admitted to the course will have to deposit an adjustable security deposit of Rs. 3000/-
