PGD-CET-2009 - Directorate of Medical Education & Research

Postgraduate Dental Entrance Examination (MDS) - PGD-CET-2009

Eligibility: Candidate must be an Indian National. Nationality Certificate issued by District Magistrate or Additional District Magistrate or Chief Metropolitan Magistrate / valid passport shall constitute the proof of nationality.

A candidate, who has passed final B.D.S. degree from a recognized dental college (Annexure-E) included in the schedule of the Dental Council of India and situated in Maharashtra, affiliated to the Non-agricultural University established under Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994 or the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik and who has obtained registration either from the Dental Council of India or Maharashtra State Dental Council (MSDC) after completing one year compulsory rotating internship will be eligible to appear for PGD-CET. Candidate obtained BDS Degree before introduction of one year compulsory rotating internship training, i.e. on or before 1989 also will be eligible to appear for PGD-CET 2009. Candidate who has obtained BDS degree from Deemed University is not eligible to appear for PGD-CET-2009.

A candidate should have obtained MSDC / DCI registration by the date of preference form filling process. (Except for a candidate who will be completing Internship by 31/03/2009, such a candidate must submit the aforesaid certificate by the beginning of academic term (i.e. second May 2009) to the college authority)

A candidate who has completed one year compulsory rotating internship or is likely to complete the same on or before 31st March 2009 can appear for PGD-CET.

The candidates who were admitted to the colleges/ institutions which are now affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) will be eligible till such time as they are awarded the degrees by the University established under Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994.



Candidate who has passed the Final BDS examination of non-agricultural universities in Maharashtra or MUHS only, will be eligible to appear for PGD-CET.

However, the candidate who are domiciled in Maharashtra and who obtained admission under 15% quota from All India Entrance Examination (AIEE) for BDS course in a dental college/institution situated out-side Maharashtra State and who has obtained the degree from a University situated outside the State of Maharashtra will also be eligible for PGD-CET. Such candidate should submit:

i) Certificate from the Dean of respective college stating that the candidate was admitted under 15% AIEE quota for BDS course.

ii) Certificate of domicile in State of Maharashtra by virtue of residence.

The candidate belonging to Backward Class must have claimed so in his original application form, failing which such a claim will not be entertained subsequently. The candidate belonging to Backward Class Category should produce the Caste Certificate, Caste Validity Certificate and Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (wherever applicable) at the time of preference form filling process.

The candidates belonging to DT(VJ (A)), NT1(B), NT2(C), NT3(D), OBC and SBC categories should have Non-Creamy layer certificate issued by appropriate authority which is valid up to 31st March 2009.

Candidates who are previously registered and pursuing/completed the PG degree course or have obtained PG degree, are not eligible for appearing at PGD-CET 2009.

Candidate will be eligible to appear for PGD-CET 2010, if he/she cancels his/her admission of PGD-CET 2009 before Prescribed date.

Application procedure:
The Information Brochure and Computerised Application form will be available at all Government Dental Colleges and B.J Medical College, Pune from 10/12/2008 to 24/12/2008 including Sundays and State Government Holidays. The cost of the Information Brochure along with Computerised Application Form of PGD-CET 2009 and Examination Fee is Rs. 1800/- to be paid by Demand Draft/ Pay Order drawn on any Nationalized/scheduled commercial Bank in favour of the Director, Medical Education and Research, Mumbai, payable at Mumbai. This amount is not refundable.

Application forms of the candidates shall be received at all the Government Dental Colleges and B.J Medical College, Pune. The applications will be scrutinised by them and shall be submitted with remarks to the Competent Authority. The Designated Authority will be responsible for sale, receipt of application form, scrutiny and determining the eligibility.

Admit Cards will be issued at the Designated Authority where the candidate has submitted his/her application form during 19/01/2009 to 24/01/2009.
