Combined Medical Services Examination, 2011

Eligibility Criteria

(a) Age Limits
Must not have attained the age of 32 years on 15th January, 2011. The upper age limit is reiaxable for Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes/ Other Backward Classes / Physically Handicapped and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.

(b) Educational Qualifications
A candidate must have passed the written and practical parts of final M.B.B.S, Examination.

Application Procedure

(a) Candidates may apply Online by using the website http://www.upsconline.nic.in Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above mentioned Website.

(b) Candidates may also apply offline in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices / Post Offices (specified in Appendix—lll of the Notice published in the Employment News dated 11.09.2010) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs.20/- (Rupees Twenty only). Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination.

In case of any difficulty in obtaining Application Forms from the designated HPOs/POs, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC's “FORMS SUPPLY MONITORING CELL" over Telephone No.011-23389366/ Fax No.011-23387310.

FEE :
(a) Candidates applying Online are required to pay a reduced fee of Rs.50/- (Rupees Fifty only) either by remitting the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit Card.

(b) Candidates applying Offline (through Common Application Form) are required to pay a fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only.

(c) All Female candidates/SC/ ST/ Physically Handicapped candidates are exempted from payment of Fee. (OBC candidates are required to pay full fee).

Special Class Railway Apprentices Examination, 2010

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Special Class Railway Apprentices Examination, 2010 on 19th December, 2010 for recruitment  to the Special Class Apprentices in the Mechanical Department of Indian Railways. The examination will be held at various centres across the country.

Eligibility Criteria

(a) Age Limits: Not less than 17 years and not more than 21 years on 1st August, 2010.

The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes / Other Backward Classes and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.

(b) Educational Qualifications :

Must have passed in the first or second division, the intermediate or an equivalent Examination of a University or Board approved by the Government of India with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.

(c) Physical Standards:

Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in Appendix-ll of the Rules for the Special Class Railway Apprentices' Examination, 2010 published in the Gazette of India dated 28th August, 2010.

(a) Candidates, who wish to apply offline, must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post
Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix-lll of the Notice throughout the country against cash payment of Rs.20/- (Rupees Twenty only).

Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Geologists Examination–2010

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Geologists’ Examination, 2010 commencing from 04th December, 2010 for recruitment to the posts of Geologist, Group A in the Geological Survey of India and Jr. Hydro geologist (Scientist ‘B’), Group ‘A’ and Asstt. Hydro geologist, Gr. ‘B' in the Central Ground Water Board. The examination will be held at various centres across the country.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limits: Candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on 1st January, 2010.

Educational Qualifications: A candidate must hold (i) Master’s Degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology: or (ii) Master’s Degree in Mineral Exploration (for posts in Geological Survey of India only), or (iii) Master’s Degree in Hydrogeology (for posts in Central Ground Water Board only) from a recognized University; or (iv)

Diploma of Associateship in Applied Geology of the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.

Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in Appendix-II of Rules for the Geologist’s Examination, 2010 published in the Gazette of India dated 19th June, 2010.

Indian Economic Service - IES And Indian Statistical Service - ISS Exam

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2010 commencing from 04th December, 2010 for recruitment to Grade IV of the Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service.

Eligibility Criteria

(a) Age Limits:
Candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st January, 2010.

The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/ Other Backward Classes / Physically Handicapped and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.

(b) Educational Qualifications:

A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate degree in Economics/ Applied Economics/ Business Economics/ Econometrics and a candidate for the Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics / Applied Statistics from a recognised University.

(c) Physical Standards:

Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in Appendix-lll of the Rules for the Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2010 published in the Gazette of India dated 05th June, 2010.

Indian Forest Service Examination-2010

Age Limits : Not less than 21 years and not more than 30 years on 15th July, 2010.
The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castesr / Scheduled Tribes/ Other Backward Classes and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.

Educational Qualifications : Bachelors degree of a recognised University with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

Physical Standards : Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in Appendix-III of Rules for the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2010 published in the Gazette of India dated 20th February, 2010.

Number of Attempts: The maximum number of attempts permissible to different categories of aspirants, who are otherwise eligible, will be as follows :-
(l) General Category Four
(ii) Other Backward Classes Seven
(iii) Scheduled Castes (SC) / Scheduled Tribes(ST) No limit

Application Procedure: The Commission proposes to make available online application submission for Indian Forest Service Examination, 2010 from 27th February, 2010 to 15th March, 2010 for which a separate notice is to be issued.

Eligibility: (a) Age Limits :Not less than 21 years and not more than 30 years on 1st August, 2010.

(b) Educational Qualifications : A candidate must hold a Degree in Engineering or equivalent. Provided that a candidate applying for the post of Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts) and Engineer Group A in Wireless Planning & Coordination Wing / Monitoring Organisation may possess M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.

Candidates who qualify on the basis of results of the written part of the examination will be summoned for personality test.

( c) Physical Standards : Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Engineering Services Examination, 2010 as per Regulations given in Appendix-II of Rules for Examination published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary dated 30th January, 2010.

Application procedure: (a) The Commission proposes to make available online application submission for Engineering Services Examination, 2010 from 6th February, 2010 to 22nd February, 2010, for which a separate notice is to be issued.

Eligibility: (A) Age Limits:
A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, 2010, i.e. he must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1980 and not later than 1st August, 1989.

The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable:
(i) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.

(ii) upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.

(iii) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989.

(iv) upto a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof:

(v) upto a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st August, 2010 and have been released (i) on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year from 1st August, 2010) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency, or (ii) on account of physical disability attributable toMilitary Service, or (iii) on invalidment.

(vi) upto a maximum of five years in the case of ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years Military Service as on 1st August, 2010 and whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for civil employment and that they will be released on three month's notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment.

(vii) upto a maximum of 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically handicapped persons.

(B) Minimum Educational Qualifications:
The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section 3 of the University GrantsCommission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Note I : Candidates who have appeared at an examination the passing of which would render them educationally qualified for the Commission’s examination but have not been informed of the results as also the candidates who intend to appear at such a qualifying examination will also be eligible for admission to the Preliminary Examination. All candidates who are declared qualified by the Commission for taking the Civil Services (Main) Examination will be required to produce proof of passing the requisite examination with their application for the Main Examination failing which such candidates will not be admitted to the Main Examination. The applications for the main examination will be called sometime in the month of July/August, 2010.

Note II : In exceptional cases the Union Public Service Commission may treat a candidate who has not any of the foregoing qualifications as a qualified candidate provided that he has passed examination conducted by the other Institutions, the standard of which in the opinion of the Commission justifies his admission to the examination.

Note III : Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognised by Government as equivalent to professional and technical degree would also be eligible for admission to theexamination.

Note IV : Candidates who have passed the final professional M.B.B.S. or any other Medical Examination but have not completed their internship by the time of submission of their applications for the Civil Services (Main) Examination, will be provisionally admitted to the Examination provided they submit along with their application a copy of certificate from the concerned authority of the University/Institution that they had passed the requisite final professional medicalexamination . In such cases, the candidates will be required to produce at the time of their interview original Degree or a certificate from the concerned competent authority of the University/Institution that they had completed all requirements (including completion of internship) for the award of the Degree.

(C) Number of attempts:
Every candidate appearing at the Civil Services Examination, who is otherwise eligible, shall be permitted four attempts at the examination.

Provided that this restriction on the number of attempts will not apply in the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates who are otherwise eligible.

Provided further that the number of attempts permissible to candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes, who are otherwise eligible, shall be seven. This relaxation will be available to the candidates who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.

Provided further that a Physically handicapped will get as many attempts as are available to other non-physically handicapped candidates of his or her community, subject to the General Category shall be eligible for seven attempts. The relaxation will be available to the physically handicapped candidates who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.

Note:- (i) An attempt at a Preliminary Examination shall be deemed to be an attempt at the Examination.

(ii) If a candidate actually appears in any one paper in the Preliminary Examination, he/she shall be deemed to have made an attempt at the Examination.

(iii) Notwithstanding the disqualification/cancellation of candidature, the fact of appearance of the candidate at the examination will count as an attempt.

The number of vacancies to be filled on the results of the examination is expected to be approximately 965. The number of vacancies is liable to alteration.

Reservation will be made for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Physically disabled categories in respect of vacancies as may be fixed by the Government.

The Civil Services Examination will consist of two successive stages (vide Appendix I Section I below).

(i) Civil Services Preliminary Examination (Objective type for the selection of candidates for the Main Examination; and
(ii) Civil Services Main Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the various Services and posts noted above.

Applications are now invited for the Preliminary Examination only. Candidates who are declared by the Commission to have qualified for admission to the Main Examination will have to apply again in the detailed application form which would be supplied to them. The Main Examination is likely to be held in October/November, 2010.

Examination Fee
A candidate seeking admission to examination must pay to the Commission a fee of Rs. 50.00 (Rupees Fifty only) through a single Central Recruitment Fee Stamp of requisite denomination. Central recruitment Fee Stamp (NOT postage stamps) may be obtained from the post office and affixed on the application form in the space provided therein. The stamp must be got cancelled from the issuing Post Office with the date stamp of the post office in such a manner that the impression of the cancellation mark partially overflows on the application form itself but within the space provided on the form. The impression of the cancellation mark should be clear and distinct to facilitate the identification of date and the Post Office of issue.

Candidates residing abroad should deposit the prescribed fee in the office of India's High Commissioner, Ambassador or representative abroad as the case may be for credit to account head "051-Public Service Commission-Examination Fees" and attach the receipt with the application.

ALL FEMALE CANDIDATES AND CANDIDATES BELONGING TO SCHEDULED CASTE/SCHEDULED TRIBE/PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED CATEGORIES ARE EXEMPTED FROM PAYMENT OF FEE. NO FEE EXEMPTION IS HOWEVER, AVAILABLE TO OBC CANDIDATES AND THEY ARE REQUIRED TO PAY THE PRESCRIBED FEE IN FULL.

Physically disabled persons are exempted from the payment of fee provided they are otherwise eligible for appointment to the Services/Posts to be filled on the results of this examination on the basis of the standards of medical fitness for these Services/Posts (including any concessions specifically extended to the physically disabled). A physically disabled candidate claiming fee concession will be required by the Commission to submit along with their detailed application form, a certified copy of the certificate from a Government Hospital/Medical Board in support of his claim for being physically disabled.

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2010 on 18th April, 2010 for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force Wings of NDA for 125th Course and Naval Academy for 45th 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course commencing from 30th December, 2010. :

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY

(a) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status:

Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1992 and not later than 1st July, 1994 are eligible.

(b) Educational Qualifications:

(i) For Army Wing of National Defence Academy: - 12th Class pass of 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course of Naval Academy:- 12th Class pass of the10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics, conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

Candidates who are appearing in 12th Class under 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this Examination.

(c) Physical Standards:

Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2010 as given in Appendix-V of Commission’s Notice for the Examination published in Employment news/Rozgar Samachar
dated 17th October, 2009.

The Candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix-lll of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs.20/-

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2010 on 14th February, 2010 for admission to Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy for the Courses commencing in January, 2011 and Officers Training Academy, Chennai for the Courses (Men and Women) commencing in April, 2011 .

Conditions of Eligibility

(A) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status:

(i) For Indian Military Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1987 and not later than 1st January, 1992 only are eligible.

(ii) For Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1989 (2nd January, 1987 in case of NCC Naval Wing ‘C’ Certificate holders) and not later than 1st January 1992 only are eligible.

(iii) For Air Force Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1988 and not later than 1st January, 1992 only are eligible.

(iv) For Officers’ Training Academy - (SSC Course for Men) : Male candidates (married or unmarried) born not earlier than 2nd January, 1986 and not later than 1st January, 1992 only are
eligible.

(v) For Officers’ Training Academy - SSC (Women Non-Technical Course): Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remained and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1986 and not later than 1st January, 1992.

(B) Educational Qualifications :

(i) For Indian Military Academy and Officers’ Training Academy:• Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.

(ii) For Naval Academy:• B.Sc. (with Physics & Mathematics) or Bachelor of Engineering.

(ii) For Air Force Academy:• Degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

Candidates who are studying in final year Degree Course and have yet to pass final year degree examination or equivalent examination can also apply for the Examination, but they will be required to submit proof of passing the Degree Examination or equivalent examination
by the specified dates published in Commission’s Notice for the Examination.

(C) Physical Standards:

Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for admission to Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2010 as given in Appendix-V of Commission’s Notice for the Examination published in Employment News/ Rozgar Samachar dated 26th September, 2009.

Central Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination, 2008

The Union Public Service Commission will hold an Examination on 05th October, 2008 for recruitment of Assistant Commandants (Group A) in Central Police Forces (CPF) viz. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The examination will be held at various centres across the country.

The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/ Other Backward Classes and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.

(b) Educational Qualifications:

Degree of a recognised University or an equivalent qualification.

(c) Sex :

Both Male and Female candidates are eligible for appointment to CRPF and CISF. However, only Male candidates are eligible for appointment to BSF, ITBP and SSB.

(d) Physical and Medical Standards :

Candidates must meet the physical and medical standards specified in Appendix VI of the Notice published in the Employment News dated 10.05.2008.

(e) NCC `B` or`C Certificate Holders:

Possession of NCC `B` or `C Certificate will be a desirable qualification. The desirable qualifications will be given consideration at the time of Interview/ Personality Test only.

Selections will be made on the basis of a Written Examination to be conducted by the UPSC followed by the Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests to be conducted under the supervision of a Nodal Authority to be appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Personality Test/Interview to be conducted by UPSC.
