Download eAdmit Card NDA and NA Examination I 2018

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) New Delhi released eAdmit Card for National Defence Academy and Naval Academy i.e. NDA & NA Examination I 2018. The Examination is scheduled on 22 April 2018. The candidates qualified in the written test shall under go for SSB Interview. Finally selected candidates shall get admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wing of NDA for the 141th course, and 103rd Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). The course will be commenced from 2 January 2019.

The notification for National Defence Academy and Naval Academy  i.e. NDA & NA Examination  2018 are rescheduled now. According to UPSC Official website the notifications were scheduled on 10 January but are rescheduled to be published on 15 January 2018.

NDA & NA (II) 2012

The NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY & NAVAL ACADEMY EXAMINATION (II), 2012 will be conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on 19.08.2012 for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the National Defence Academy (NDA) for the 130th Course, and for the 92nd Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). These courses will be commencing from July, 2013. The candidates Joining Indian Naval Academy would undergo 4 years B.Tech
Course and would be given an opportunity to join Executive and Technical Branches of the Navy subject to availability of vacancies.


The approximate number of vacancies to be filled on the NDA & NA (II) 2012
will be 355 [(195 for the Army, 39 for Navy, 66 for the Air Force and 55 for Indian Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme)]. The number of vacancies given here are indicative and may change.

Eligibility Criteria


Nationality : A candidate must either be : (i) a citizen of India, or (ii) a subject of Bhutan, or (iii) a subject of Nepal, or (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to
India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri
Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of  ermanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall
be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Certificate of eligibility will not, however, be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status :
Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1994 and not later than 1st January, 1997 are eligible.

Educational Qualifications :


(i) For Army wing of National Defence Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University. (ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian
Naval Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or
equilvalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

Candidates appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School
Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.

NDA & NA (II) 2012 Application FEE :


Candiates (excepting SC/STcandidates/ Sons of JCOs/NCOs/ORs specified in Note 2 below who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 50/- (Rupees Fifty only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India/ State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ Sate Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala /State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.

NDA & NA (II) 2012 Selection Procedure- Two-stage selection procedure based on Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test has been introduced at
Selection Centers/Air Force Selection Boards. All the candidates will be put to
stage one test on first day of reporting at Selection Centers/Air Force Selection
Boards. Only those candidates who qualify at stage one will be admitted to the second stage/remaining tests.

NDA & NA (II) 2012 Exam Pattern Written Test


The subjects of the written examination, the time allowed and the maximum marks allotted to each subject will be as follows :–
Mathematics 01 2-½ Hours 300 Marks
General Ability Test 02 2-½ Hours 600 Marks
Total 900

SSB Test/Interview : 900 Applicable to those who qualify in written test.

PAPER-I MATHEMATICS  (Maximum Marks- 300)

Course Content

1. ALGEBRA
Concept of a set, operations on sets, Venn diagrams. De Morgan laws. Cartesian product, relation, equivalence relation. Representation of real numbers on a line.
Complex numbers - basic properties, modulus, argument, cube roots of unity.
Binary system of numbers. Conversion of a number in decimal system to binary system and vice-versa. Arithmetic, Geometric and Harmonic progressions. Quadratic equations with real coefficients. Solution of linear inequations of two variables by graphs. Permutation and Combination. Binomial theorem and its applications. Logarithms and their applications.
2. MATRICES AND DETERMINANTS :
Types of matrices, operations on matrices. Determinant of a matrix, basic properties of determinants. Adjoint and inverse of a square matrix, Applications - Solution of a system of linear equations in two or three unknowns by Cramer's rule and by Matrix Method.
3. TRIGONOMETRY : Angles and their measures in degrees and in radians. Trigonometrical ratios. Trigonometric identities Sum and difference formulae.
Multiple and Sub-multiple angles. Inverse trigonometric functions. Applications – Height and distance, properties of triangles.
4. ANALYTICAL GEOMETRY OF TWO AND THREE DIMENSIONS : Rectangular Cartesian Coordinate system. Distance formula. Equation of a line in
various forms. Angle between two lines. Distance of a point from a line. Equation of a circle in standard and in general form. Standard forms of parabola, ellipse and hyperbola. Eccentricity and axis of a conic. Point in a three dimensional space, distance between two points. Direction Cosines and direction ratios. Equation of a plane and a line in various forms. Angle between two lines and angle between two planes. Equation of a sphere.
5. DIFFERENTIAL CALCULUS : Concept of a real valued function - domain, range and graph of a function. Composite functions, one to one, onto and inverse
functions. Notion of limit, Standard limits - examples. Continuity of functions - examples, algebraic operations on continuous functions. Derivative of function at a point, geometrical and physical interpretation of a derivative - applications. Derivatives of sum, product and quotient of functions, derivative of a function with
respect to another function, derivative of a composite function. Second order
derivatives. Increasing and decreasing functions. Application of derivatives in problems of maxima and minima.
6. INTEGRAL CALCULUS AND DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS : Integration as inverse of differentiation, integration by substitution and by parts, standard integrals involving algebraic expressions, trigonometric, exponential and hyperbolic functions. Evaluation of definite integrals - determination of areas
of plane regions bounded by curves - applications. Definition of order and degree of a differential equation, formation of a differential equation by examples. General and particular solution of a differential equations, solution of first
order and first degree differential equations of various types - examples. Application in problems of growth and decay.
7. VECTOR ALGEBRA : Vectors in two and three dimensions, magnitude and direction of a vector. Unit and null vectors, addition of vectors, scalar
multiplication of a vector, scalar product or dot product of two vectors. Vector product or cross product of two vectors. Applications work done by a force and moment of a force and in geometrical problems.
8. STATISTICS AND PROBABILITY: Statistics : Classification of data, frequency
distribution, cumulative frequency distribution - examples. Graphical representation - Histogram, Pie Chart, frequency polygon - examples. Measures
of Central tendency - Mean, median and mode. Variance and standard deviation - determination and comparison. Correlation and regression. Probability : Random experiment, outcomes and associated sample space, events, mutually exclusive and exhaustive events, impossible and certain events. Union and
Intersection of events. Complementary, elementary and composite events. Definition of probability - classical and statistical - examples. Elementary theorems on probability - simple problems. Conditional probability, Bayes' theorem – simple problems. Random variable as function on a sample space. Binomial distribution, examples of random experiments giving rise to Binominal distribution.

PAPER-II GENERAL ABILITY TEST (Maximum Marks-600)

Part ‘A’ - ENGLISH (Maximum Marks 200)
The question paper in English will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding of English and workman like use of words. The syllabus covers various aspects like : Grammar and usage, vocabulary, comprehension
and cohesion in extended text to test the candidate’s proficiency in English.

Part ‘B’ - GENERAL KNOWLEDGE
(Maximum Marks-400)
The question paper on General Knowledge will broadly cover the subjects : Physics, Chemistry, General Science, Social Studies, Geography and Current Events. The syllabus given below is designed to indicate the scope of these subjects included in this paper. The topics mentioned are not to be regarded as exhaustive and questions on topics of similar nature not specifically mentioned in the syllabus may also be asked. Candidate’s answers are expected to show their knowledge and intelligent understanding of the subject.

Section ‘A’ (Physics)
Physical Properties and States of Matter, Mass, Weight, Volume, Density and Specific Gravity, Principle of Archimedes, Pressure Barometer. Motion of objects, Velocity and Acceleration, Newton’s Laws of Motion, Force and Momentum, Parallelogram of Forces, Stability and Equilibrium of bodies, Gravitation, elementary ideas of work, Power and Energy.
Effects of Heat, Measurement of temperature temperature and heat, change of State and Latent Heat, Modes of transference of Heat. Sound waves and their properties, Simple musical instruments. Rectilinear propagation of Light, Reflection and refraction. Spherical mirrors and Lenses. Human Eye. Natural and Artificial Magnets, Properties of a Magnet, Earth as a Magnet. Static and Current Electricity, conductors and Non-conductors, Ohm’s Law, Simple Electrical circuits, Heating, Lighting and Magnetic effects of Current, Measurement of Electrical Power, Primary and Secondary Cells, Use of X-Rays. General Principles in the working of the following
:
Simple Pendulum, Simple Pulleys, Siphon, Levers, Balloon, Pumps, Hydrometer, Pressure Cooker, Thermos Flask, Gramophone, Telegraphs, Telephone, Periscope, Telescope, Microscope, Mariner’s Compass; Lightening Conductors, Safety Fuses.

Section ‘B’ (Chemistry)
Physical and Chemical changes. Elements, Mixtures and Compounds, Symbols, Formulae and simple Chemical Equations, Law of Chemical Combination (excluding problems). Properties of Air and Water. Preparation and Properties of Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen and Carbondioxide, Oxidation and Reduction.
Acids, bases and salts. Carbon - different forms. Fertilizers - Natural and Artificial
Material used in the preparation of substances like soap, Glass, Ink, Paper, Cement, Paints, Safety Matches, and Gun-Powder. Elementary ideas about the Structure of Atom, Atomic, Equivalent and Molecular Weights, Valency.

Section ‘C’ (General Science)
Difference between the living and non- living. Basis of Life - Cells, Protoplasms and Tissues. Growth and Reproduction in Plants and Animals. Elementary knowledge of Human Body and its important organs. Common Epidemics, their causes and prevention. Food - Source of Energy for man. Constituents of food, Balanced Diet. The Solar System - Meteors and Comets, Eclipses. Achievements of Eminent Scientists.

Section ‘D’ (History, Freedom Movement etc.)
A broad survey of Indian History, with emphasis on Culture and Civilisation.
Freedom Movement in India. Elementary study of Indian Constitution and Administration. Elementary knowledge of Five Year Plans of India. Panchayati Raj, Co-operatives and Community Development. Bhoodan, Sarvodaya, National Integration and Welfare State, Basic Teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. Forces shaping the modern world; Renaissance, Exploration and Discovery; War of American Independence. French Revolution, Industrial Revolution and Russian
Revolution. Impact of Science and Technology on Society. Concept of one orld,
United Nations, Panchsheel, Democracy. Socialism and Communism. Role of India in the present world.

Section ‘E’ (Geography)
The Earth, its shape and size. Lattitudes and Longitudes, Concept of time. International Date Line. Movements of Earth and their effects. Origin of Earth. Rocks and their classification; Weathering - Mechanical and Chemical, Earthquakes and volcanoes. Ocean Currents and Tides Atmosphere and its composition; Temperature and Atmospheric Pressure, Planetary Winds, cyclones and Anti-cyclones; Humidity; Condensation and Precipitation; Types of Climate. Major Natural regions of the World. Regional Geography of India - Climate, Natural vegetation. Mineral and Power resources; location and distribution of agricultural and industrial activities. Important Sea ports and main sea, land and
air routes of India. Main items of Imports and Exports of India.

Section ‘F’ (Current Events)
Knowledge of Important events that have happened in India in the recent years. Current important world events. Prominent personalities - both Indian and International including those connected with cultural activities and sports.

NOTE :
Out of maximum marks assigned to part ‘B’ of this paper, questions on Sections ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’, ‘E’ and ‘F’ will carry approximately 25%, 15%, 10%, 20%, 20% and 10% weightages respectively.

Intelligence and personality test In addition to the interview the candidates will be put to Intelligence Tests both verbal and non-verbal, designed to assess their basic intelligence. They will also be put to Group Tests such as group discussions, group planning, outdoor group tasks, and asked to give brief lectures on specified subjects. All these tests are intended to judge the mental calibre of a candidate. In broad terms, this is really an assessment of not only his intellectual qualities but also his social traits and interests in current affairs.

NDA & NA Exam on August 21, 2011

The National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II) 2011 will be conducted on August 21, 2011 for admission into Army, Navy and Air Force Wings. The UPSC New Delhi is administering authority for NDA & NA Examination. The courses will commence from June 30, 2012. Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than July 2, 1993 and not later than January 1, 1996 are eligible.

Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2011 as given in Appendix-V of the Commission's notice for the examination published in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar dated April 9, 2011.

National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2009

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2009 on 19th April, 2009 for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force Wings of NDA for 123rd Course and Naval Academy for 43rd 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course commencing from 30th December, 2009.

Salient features of the examination are published herein for general information of candidates. For details regarding the Syllabus and Scheme of the examination, Centers of examination, Guidelines for filling up application form etc. aspirants must consult the Detailed Notice of the examination published in the Employment News/Rozgar Samachar dated 18th October, 2008.

2. CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY

(a) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status :

Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1991 and not later than 1st July, 1993 are eligible.

(b) Educational Qualifications:

(i) For Army Wing of National Defence Academy: • 12th Class pass of 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course of Naval Academy: 12th Class pass of the10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics, conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

Candidates who are appearing in 12th Class under 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this Examination.

(c) Physical Standards :

Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2009 as given in Appendix-V of Commission’s Notice for Examination published in Employment news/Rozgar Samachar dated 18th October, 2008.





3. APPLICATION FORM :

The Candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix-lll of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs.20/- (Rupees twenty only). Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination.

In case of any difficulty in obtaining Application Forms from the designated HPOs/POs, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC`s "FORMS SUPPLY MONITORING CELL" over Telephone No.011-23389366 , Fax No.011—23387310.

4. FEE :

Rs.50/- (Rupees fifty only) through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only. SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment of Fee. (OBC candidates are required to pay full fee).

5. ADDRESS AND LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS :

All applications must reach the "Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi – 110 069" either by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 17th November, 2008.

However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in the Notice the last date for receipt of applications by Post/Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courier) is 24th November, 2008.
