The candidates admitted in ME/ M Tech with valid GATE score will be considered to receive scholarships only if approved & amount released by AICTE or any other funding agency.
MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (M.Phil)
Admission to 10 seats each in MPhil (Economics) and M.Phil (Psychology) shall be made on the basis of the entrance test to be conducted by TU at Patiala on May 04,2008.
DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PhD)
Admission to Ph.D. program shall be made on the basis of interview to be conducted by TU on July 2, 2008.
Admission Criteria
Admission criteria for different courses is mentioned below
BE/BTech Programme – Admission to BE / BTech program shall be made on the basis of rank in AIEEE examination. In addition you would require 60% marks in 10+2 final examination with combination of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/Computer science. SC / ST candidates require 55% marks in final qualifying examination.
50% of the sanctioned intake of BE/BTech programme are received for the candidates who have passed (or appearing) their +2 from institutes located outside Punjab.
The candidates desirous of seeking admission in the University have to submit a separate application to this University on prescribed application form appended in the prospectus of the University.
BE/BTech programme (Second year through LEET-TU)
Admission to Second Year BE / BTech for the candidates who have engineering diploma qualification program shall be made on the basis of LEET – TU administered by the Thapar University at Patiala and Delhi on 21 . 06 . 2008. There is 50% reservation for the candidates passed diploma program 2 or 3 year outside Punjab state.
MCA/MSc (Biotechnology) Programme
Admission shall be made on the basis of entrance test conducted by TU at Patiala and Delhi. The entrance test shall be held on 14.07.2008
MSc (Phy)/MSc (Chem)/MSc (Maths & Computing)
Admission entrance test for these programs shall be administered by TU at Patiala on June 22, 2008
ME/M.Tech/PhD
Admission shall be made on the basis of GATE Score. For not having GATE score the university shall administer entrance test on July 3, 2008. Non-GATE qualified and part time candidates will be conducted on July 4, 2008.
How 2 Apply?
The prospectus along with the Admission form containing the details of eligibility, number of seats, reservation of seats, counseling/admission schedule, fees each, and other details can be had at the University counter on payment of Rs.1000/- OR by post through Bank Draft of Rs.1050/- in favour of the Registrar, Thapar University, Patiala payable at Patiala from the office of the Registrar or can be downloaded from our website www.thapar.edu or one can apply ONLINE. Prospectus & Application form will be available from March 28, 2008 onwards.
