Applications are invited for admission to Ph.D Degree from Non-stipendiary candidates for Full-time / Part-time Programme in the Departments of the University, Colleges affiliated to this University and Recognised Research Institutions for July 2008 Session.




Eligibility: A Candidate should have obtained a Master's Degree with not less than Second Class or equivalent Grade. In the case of examinations, where classification does not exist, a minimum of 50% marks in needed in the qualifying examination.

A Candidate should pass an Entrance Examination (Written and Oral) administered by duly constituted committee of the Department in the University or of an affiliated college where the candidate proposes to undergo Ph.D. Programme.

PART-TIME:

(a) A teacher working in the Department of the University or of an affiliated college of the University or Higher Secondary School or High School or Polytechnic within the territorial jurisdiction and with a qualifying degree fulfilling the above eligibility can apply.

(b) A candidate employed other than as a teacher in a permanent job, within the territorial jurisdiction of this University with a minimum of four years of total working experience put in with the qualifying degree and satisfying the rules framed separately by the Syndicate from time to time with the above eligibility can apply.

Application procedure: Applications forms (both permission and Registration) can be had from the University Enquiry Office on payment of Rs.260/- by way of an Account Payee Demand Draft from any Nationalised Bank drawn in favour of the " The Registrar. University of Madras, Chennai - 600005" along with requisition letter, Postal Order and Money Order will not be accepted.
