Eligibility: MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION FOR CET: The minimum essential educational qualifications for CET will be Senior Secondary School Certificate or Intermediate or 10+2 or its equivalent examination with at least 50% marks for non graduates and 45% for graduates as per norms approved by the Govt. vide notification dated 29.3.2008. The minimum pass marks in JBT Common Entrance Test (Written test) will be as under.- a) 40% minimum pass marks for General category candidates i.e. 40 marks out of 100. b) 35% minimum pass marks for reserved category candidates i.e. 35 marks out of 100. 2. AGE LIMIT FOR CET: The age limit shall be of 17-28 years as on 31.12.2007 for all candidates. Relaxation up to five years in the upper age limit shall be given to the candidates of reserved categories as per existing rules of the State Government. There will be no upper age limit in case of Ex-servicemen candidates only. However, relaxation in upper age limit shall not be available to the wards/dependents of Ex-Servicemen.


Application procedure: a) The application form should be strictly in accordance with the format, which should either be photo-copy of application form published in the news papers or may be down loaded from the Website (www.hpeducationboard.nic.in ) of the Board. The application form can also be neatly typed on A-4 size measuring about 21cm x 30cm on Photostat paper while maintaining the arrangement/ sequence of columns as given on the application form. Application forms not in accordance with the prescribed format are liable to be rejected.

b) All the columns must be filled up in English only in Capital letters in ink or with ballpoint/Gel Pen.

c) The application form, complete in all respects, along with (i) two copies of prescribed admission card (20cm x 10cms), (ii) two self-addressed envelopes (25cms x 12cms) and (iii) three pass-port size photographs-one pasted on the right hand side of the application form and one each on the admit cards should be sent under registered cover to the Deputy Secretary (JBT Cell), H.P. Board of School Education Dharamshala-176700 (Kangra), which must reach the Board's office on or before the stipulated date.

There is no need to get the form/photographs attested from any authority. Applications received after the last date, without fee or less fee or not in accordance with the prescribed format shall be rejected and no refund of fee in such cases shall be made under any circumstances. The envelope containing application form should be superscribed with words "APPLICATION FORM FOR JBT COMMON ENTRANCE TEST, 2008"

Enclosures with the application form: 1. Demand Draft of Rs.200/- (Please ensure that the name of the applicant with complete address is written on the back side of the Bank Draft) 2. Two self-addressed envelops 3. Admit Card (in duplicate)


Type of Questions There shall be one question paper having questions of multiple-choice/objective type, carrying 100 questions of one mark each to be attempted within 120 minutes. The subjects along with the distribution of marks shall be as under: i) Hindi – Marks - 25 ii) English – Marks - 25 iii) Numerical Ability – Marks - 25 iv) General Awareness – Marks - 25 Grand Total: 100 ;

The question papers of Hindi, English & Numerical Ability shall be of 10+2 standard. The questions of General Awareness will be based mainly on Himachal Pradesh.

UPSC - Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination

Eligibility: (a) Age Limits: Candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st January, 2008. The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/ Other Backward Classes/Physically Handicapped and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.

(b) Educational Qualifications: A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/ Econometrics and a candidate for the Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a recognised University.

(c) Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in Appendix-III of the Rules for the Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2008 published in the Gazette of India dated 21st June, 2008.


Application procedure: The candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix-III of the Notice published in the Employment News dated 21.06.2008) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs.20/- (Rupees Twenty only). Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination. In case of any difficulty in obtaining Application Forms from the designated HPOs/ POs, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC's "FORMS SUPPLY MONITORING CELL" over Telephone No. 011-23389366/Fax No. 011-23387310. ; ; ; EXAMINATION FEE : Rs.100/- (Rupees One hundred only) to be paid through a single Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only. SC/ST/PH candidates are exempted from payment of Fees. (OBC candidates are required to pay full fees).

NCERT - National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) - 2009

Eligibility: Students of Class VIII studying in recognized schools are eligible to appear for the respective Class VIII Stage I examination conducted by the States/UTs in which the schools are located. There will be no domicile restriction.
Application procedure: Application Forms can be downloaded from NCERT website www.ncert.nic.in .
All correspondence relating to Application Forms should be addressed to the State Liaison Officers (LOs) whose addresses are given at the Website.
The completed application form duly signed by Principal of the school should be submitted to the LO before the last date.


Fees: States and Union Territories may notify the fee required (refer NCERT website) which will be paid for the Stage-I examination. However, NCERT does not charge any fee for the Stage-II examination.
Selection: There will be two-stage selection process for award of scholarship. For Stage-I, selection will be done by States/UTs through a written examination. Students who qualify Stage I will be eligible to appear for Stage II examination conducted by NCERT.
Examination Pattern The pattern of written examination for Class VIII will be as follows:
Stage I examination at the State/UT level will comprise two parts, namely (a) Mental Ability Test (MAT) and (b) Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) covering social sciences, sciences and mathematics.
Stage II examination at the National level will comprise (a) Mental Ability Test (MAT), (b) Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) covering social sciences, sciences and mathematics,
(c) Interview. Only those candidates who qualify the written examination at the National Level will be invited for interview.
Note: Indian Students Studying Abroad can appear directly for Stage II NTS Examination under conditions prescribed in the NTS brochure for class VIII which is available on the NCERT website. Candidates may fill up relevant items of the Application Form available on the NCERT website and send to the undersigned along with a photocopy of the mark sheet of previous examination latest by March 31, 2009.
