Eligibility Criteria

For admission to M. Tech: Candidates must have passed Bachelor of Engg. degree or its equivalent in appropriate branch of Engg./ Technology from a recognized University.

A candidate having degree in Mechanical Engg. / Production & Industrial Engg. / Production Engg. & Management / Production Engg. / Industrial Engg. may be considered for admission in Production & Industrial Engg. Branch.

Candidates with M. Sc. in Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics at B. Sc. Level or M. Sc. in physics with Chemistry and Mathematics at B. Sc. level or degree in Chemical / Mechanical /Metallurgical Engg. are eligible for admission to M. Tech. in Surface Science & Engineering.
Candidates appearing in 2010 examination of the qualifying degree can also apply but they will have to produce the result latest by 30.09.2010.

For Admission to Ph. D. Programme: The minimum qualification is any degree in appropriate field of specialization as given below:

(A). i) Master of Technology (M. Tech.) or M. S.
ii) MCA, MBA or an equivalent of the aforesaid degrees.

OR

(B). i) Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.)
ii) Master of Science (M. Sc.)

All candidates seeking admission to the Ph. D. Programme shall have to possess at least 60% marks (or a CGPA of 6.5 in a 10 point scale) in the qualifying examination.

Applications form, duly filled in, must contain a crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- for SC/ST candidates) towards Application fee drawn in favour of Director, National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, payable at S.B.I., R.I.T., Jamshedpur (Code N0: 1882) and should reach Prof. In-charge (Academic), PG & Research, N.I.T., Jamshedpur – 831014, on or before 25.06.2010.

The application form should be accompanied with :

(i) Three recent passport size photographs of the candidate attested by Gazetted Officer/Principal of the college/ Institute last attended.

(ii) Attested copy of certificate of Matriculation or equivalent examination as proof of age of the candidate.

Candidates desirous of applying for admission to University Teaching
Departments/Centres for the session 2010-2011 can download admission form from P.U. Website www.puchd.ac.in free of cost. However, those finally admitted, will be charged Rs. 40/- as cost of admission form along with admission fees.

Candidates seeking admission to a course under reserved category of sports should also submit an additional photocopy of the complete admission form along with self attested photocopies of sports certificates, class X and class XII DMC showing date of birth and original photograph to the Chairperson/Director of the concerned Department/Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh-160014.

The candidates are required to appear for trial in a proper sports kit along with their original sports certificates on University Grounds as per schedule of trials i.e. on 8th & 9th of July, 2010 (For Schedule contact office of the University Director of Physical Education).
