Admission to Master's degree programmes in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture as well as for Doctoral programmes in relevant branches of Science with MHRD or other government scholarships/assistantshipsEligibility CriteriaThe following categories of candidates are eligible to appear for GATE:
Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/ Technology/Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology.
Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE(I), AMICE(I) by the Institute of Civil Engineers (India)-ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.
Application ProcedureCandidates can submit Application Form in two different modes : Online and Offline. The preferred mode of application process is Online

ONLINE:For General / OBC: Rs.800/- (Service Charges Extra (Maximum Rs.30/-)
For SC / ST / PD: Rs.500/- (Service Charges Extra (Maximum Rs.30/-)
OFFLINE:For General / OBC: Rs.1000/-
For SC / ST / PD: Rs.500/-
Information Brochure and Application Form can be obtained on cash payment of Rs 1000/- (Rs 500/- for SC/ST/PD) from the designated Bank Branches corresponding to each zone (as given below). Application Form can also be obtained from the zonal GATE Offices after handing over Demand Draft for the appropriate amount.

Duly filled-in Application Form with appropriate enclosures must be sent by Registered or Speed post to The Chairman, GATE of the Zone, where the candidate prefers (corresponding to the 1st Choice of Examination City) to appear for the examination, so as to reach on or before Tuesday, November 02, 2010
ORIt can be handed over personally to respective Zonal GATE Office.
