IIT & NIT Bill 2010

The buzz is that ...

The Honorary Parliament of India passed Institute of Technology (Amendment) Bill, 2010, along with the National Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Bill, 2010
and thus new IITs got power to award degrees. The bill was already passed by Lok Sabha and on Monday, 30.04.2012 same also passed by Rajya Sabha through voice vote method. As a result following IITs got power to award degrees of their own-

IIT Bhubaneshwar, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Mandi, IIT Patna, IIT Ropar and Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU), to the list of IITs.

With this approval all these institutes becomes Institutions of National Importance.

The National Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Bill, 2010, amends the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007, to add a schedule of five Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) in India, i.ee, IISER Kolkata, IISER Pune, IISER Mohali, IISER Bhopal and IISER Thiruvananthapuram.

MP PEPT 2012 on May 20

The Pre-Engineering and Pharmacy Test (PEPT), MP is scheduled for 20.05.2012. The Professional Examinational Board, Bhopal conducting this examination for under graduate engineering and pharmacy courses admission 2012 in engineering and pharmacy college of Madhya Pradesh.
This year around 1.23 lakh candidates will compete for 1.06 lakh seats.

It is to be noted that the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has increased the intake from 88,000 to 1 lakh. MP has 215 private and government engineering colleges of which 90 are in state capital Bhopal.

The PEPT 2012 shall ask 200 question of 1 mark each this year.

How IIT JEE AIR Calculated?

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) conducts Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) for admission into undergraduate courses, B.Tech and equivalent. So many times test takers ask question like ‘I got xyz, in which IIT should I get admission or what should be my IIT JEE AIR
i.e. All India Rank.

This is one of the tough questions to answer without knowing the difficulty level of entrance examination and other parameters. To help IIT JEE I visited the JEE website of IIT Delhi and found some facts related IIT JEE 2012 AIR Preparation. Here given some related points.


Preparation of Rank Lists


The rank lists will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by a candidate in IIT JEE 2012 Entrance Exam.

A common rank list will be generated for IIT JEE 2012 aspirants who score at least 10% in each subject and 35% at least in aggregate.

The JEE Board will prepare separate rank lists for OBC (NCL), SC and ST categories.

The OBC (NCL) category candidates must score at least 9% in each subject and 31.5% in aggregate in IIT JEE 2012
The SC and ST categories candidates must score at least 5% in each subject and 17.5% in aggregate in IIT JEE 2012.

PD Rank Lists

To qualify in PD rank list, candidates must score at least 5% in each subject and 17.5% in aggregate.

Separate PD AIR rank lists will be prepared corresponding to the OBC (NCL), SC and ST categories. To be in these rank lists, candidates must score at least 5% in each subject and 17.5% in aggregate.

Preparatory Course Rank Lists

The IIT JEE 2012 Board will prepare a ran list  for preparatory course if the number of SC/ST/PD candidates in the respective rank lists is less than 1.4 times of the number of seats available in the above categories. To be eligible for these rank lists, a SC/ST/PD candidate must score at least 2.5% in each subject and 8.75% in aggregate.

There will be no separate waiting list of candidates.
