About Italy


The Republic of Italy is a country on Italian Peninsula on the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea Sicily and Sardinia in Southern Europe. The San Marino and the Vatican City both independent states are enclaves within the Italian Peninsula.  The Campione d'Italia is an Italian enclave in the Switzerland. Rome is also the center of Roman Catholic Church. 



Now Italy is a democratic republic and a developed nation, its GDP is 7th highest. United Nation ranked Italy 17th on Human Development Index in the world. Italy has signed Rome Treaty in 1957. Italy is a founding member of European Union, and a member of G8 nations, the council of Europe, the Western European Union, and the Central European Initiative. Italy is a non-permanent member of United Nations’ Security Council since January 1, 2007.  Italy supports the United Nations and its international security activities.

Italian Lifestyle


Italians are passionate about two things: eating and talking. People are warm and welcoming in nature; they prefer to celebrate life with family and friends. Often celebrations takes place at home or hotel; Italian cuisine makes a must part to every occasion; be it over the weekend get together parties, Christmas or Halloween.

Walk across any street or stop by a coffee shop in Italy and you will notice of all age group mixing together and talking around fashion, food, fun, politics or wine. Soccer is very popular sports in Italy.

Whether its small village or big metropolis one thing is common about Italy, the piazza, a place resembling to shape of a square where people gather. How much you shall require spending towards living cost depends on many factors. Tourist zones are costly. Places away from city centres are comparatively cheaper. Living space in a private shared flat may cost an average 350 Euro per month. Price of non shared flat is high approximately 600 Euro per month. Price of students’ canteen could range from 2.50 Euro to 7 Euro. A public transport ticket comes for 1.50 Euro. An average a students shall require spending 800 – 1000 Euro towards monthly expenses. However, one prefer eating out and to for movies etc over weekend living cost may go to double or triple than ordinary living expenses.  


Admission Procedure For International Students 


For admission in an Italian University / Institution, international students require competency in Italian language and relevant educational qualification. For admission into 1st Cycle Degree programmes, minimum academic qualification required in successful completion of 12 years for school education, for 2nd Cycle Degree programmes Bachelor’s level qualification is required; and for 3rd cycle degree programmes, master’s level qualification is required. International Students require to apply for a Visa to study in Italy. The common minimum requirements to apply for a Italian student visa are:
  • Accepted by a college / university in Italy to pursue a Full Time Course.
  • Possess required eligibility certificates to take admission in one such.
  • Hold a valid Passport for the intended period of stay.
  • Proof of income or sufficient means to support studies in Italy
  • Health Certificate issued by a competent hospital from the home country.
  • Candidates holding above documents may apply for Visa with nearest Foreign Mission Office of Italy in the home country.
