The School of Agriculture (SOA) aims to improve and sustain agricultural productivity and duality of human life in rural areas through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) in agriculture and allied sectors. The applications are invited for admission to the following programmes:

11. Certificate in Sericulture (CIS)
12. Certificate in Water Harvesting and Management (CWHM)
13. Certificate in Beekeeping (CIB)
14. Certificate in Poultry Farming (CPF)

Eligibility: For Sl. No. 1: Graduation in Food Science/ Agriculture/ Dairy/ Veterinary/ Fisheries / Home Science/Hotel Management/Science with Chemistry/ Bio-chemistry or Microbiology as one of the subjects/ equivalent.

For Sl. No. 2 & 3: Graduation in any discipline.

For Sl. No. 4 to 9: 10+2/ Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP) from IGNOU

10th Pass may enroll simultaneously for both BPP and the Diploma programme.

For Sl. No. 10: 10+2 / BPP from IGNOU

For Sl. No. 11: 10th Pass / Non 10th pass having two years of experience in sericulture

For Sl. No. 12: 10th Pass

For Sl. No. 13 & 14: 8th Pass

Application procedure: The Common Prospectus shall be applicable to the above programmes. The same can be obtained from the Registrar, SRD, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-110068 and also from all the Regional Centres of IGNOU by sending Rs. 150.00 through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of 'lGNOU' payable at New Delhi/the city of concerned Regional Centre/or paying Rs. 100.00 in cash at the respective sale counters.

Admission form can be downloaded from the IGNOU website and submitted along with DD for Rs. 100.00 in addition to the programme fee.

Appreciation Programme On Sustainability Science – 2009

Eligibility

The programme is open to the candidates who are Graduate in any discipline or its equivalent from any recognized University. The preference will be given to the post graduate scholars, scientists and policy makers working in the areas of agriculture, rural development, environmental science and sustainable development.

The fee for the programme is Rs. 500/

The Sustainability Science Programme shall be available online on the SAVE (Sustainable Action and Virtual Education) Platform. It is a complete virtual learning environment suite covering all the activities from registration to certification. The following features shall be available to the registered students.

Master of Business Administration (Banking & Finance), Doctoral Programmes and M.Phil

The University invites applications for admission to Master of Business Administration (Banking & Finance)-January 2009 Cycle. The Prospectus which is already on sale, can be obtained from any of the Regional Centres listed below or Registrar (SR&E), Maidan Garhi, New Delhi - 110 068, on payment of Rs.500/- in cash or Rs.550/- through Demand Draft for sending by post. Candidate should be a member of Indian Institute of Bankers, should have passed the CAIIB examination and should be a Graduate working in the Banking or Financial Services Sector for at least two years.

The last date for submission of the application form for MBA(B&F) at Regional Centre is 30-11-2008. Application form can also be downloaded from IGNOU website at http://www.ignou.ac.in and submitted along with DD for Rs. 500/- in addition to the Programme Fee.

Application for admission to the Ph.D Programme may be submitted on the prescribed form at any time during the year. Application received by September 30 and March 31, will be considered for admission to the January and July sessions respectively.

PG Diploma Programme in Acupuncture – The programme is offered online and in English Medium – 2008

The programme can be completed in a minimum period of 1 year and a maximum period of 4 years.

The programme is available to the Medical graduates (Allopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha & Homeopathy)

Special Features of the Programme

The special features of the programme is its excellent study materials developed by the experts in the country and have been prepared not only by the specialists and experienced Acupuncturists but also specialists in computer, communication and media technologies. This is the first medical programme which is being offered online.

Evaluation System

This Programme adopts continuous evaluation system through assignments, practical work, seminars and term-end examination.

The fees for the Programme including registration fee is - Rs. 20,000

About the PG Diploma in Acupuncture Online Programme

PG Diploma in Acupuncture programme is now available online. This is an initiative of IGNOU to develop in-house Learning & Content Management System for imparting online education. It is a complete virtual learning environment suite covering all the activities from registration to certification. The following features are available in PG Diploma in Acupuncture online programme:

1. Walk in admission- admission will be available throughout the year. Registration form has been specially devised with the facility of uploading scanned certificates, other required documents and photograph. Registration will be confirmed only after verification of the certificates and payment of the required admission fee. Facility for online payment is available through the payment gateway of AXIS Bank.





2. Integrated multimedia courseware- once registered, learners will have access to personalized learning space (My Page). This includes self instructional material, related audio/ video, slides, self check exercises etc. weaved in one platform.

3. Online counseling and mentoring – web cast based counseling integrated with text based chatting facility is used for counseling purposes.

4. 24×7 learner support- asynchronous and synchronous modes of interaction will be used to provide just in time support to learners.

5. Portfolio based continuous evaluation- portfolios with individualized randomly generated assignments (both objective and subjective) is automatically generated from the question bank. Portfolio space is used for keeping track of course status, assignment status and grades. Objective questions will be evaluated by the system automatically and the subjective question by the e-councellor.

6. E-tutor based practical- online instructions and e-tutorials for hands on practice of ………………. and ……………………will be used for the practical sessions. Multimedia manuals for self learning are provided online.

7. Group based online seminar- Blogs, chat rooms and discussion forums and web conferencing facility are used for group based seminars.

8. Online Project platform – templates are available for synopsis submission, project uploading and evaluation. Viva voce will be conducted through web based video conferencing tool.

9. Online Term End Examination- Online examinations will be conducted in specified centres for in proctored environment.
