With the establishment of two world class Management Institutions in India, IIM Calcutta and IIM Ahmedabad, philanthropist, educationist and political leaders of those strongly felt to bring more IIMs in the country. In 1973, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore was established. The then Prime Minister of India ‘Iron Lady’ Mrs. Indira Gandhi inaugurated the institute; Mr. TA Pai appointed the First Chairman and Mr. NS Ramaswamy, the First Director.
