The Indian Navy: 10+2 Cadet (B.Tech.) Entry Scheme (Permanent Commission)

Indian Navy – An Ocean of Opportunities: Course Commencing – Dec 2014

Applications are invited from UNMARRIED MALE CANDIDATES (fulfilling the conditions of nationality as laid down by the Govt. of India) to join the prestigious Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala under the 10+2 Cadet (B.Tech.) Entry Scheme.


Eligibility Conditions

Age: 17 to 19 ½ Years (i.e. born between 2 July 1995 and 1 January 1998, both dates inclusive)

Educational Qualification: Passed Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 Pattern) or it’s equivalent from University / Board with at least 70% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) ant at least 50% marks in English either in Class X or XII.

Physical Standards
a) Height and Weight: Minimum Height 157 Cms with correlated weight as per age.
b) Eye: Sight: The minimum acceptable vision standard for distant vision is 6/6, 6/9 correctable to 6/6, 6/6 with Glasses. Should not be Color / Night Blind.
c) Tatto: Permanent Body tattoos are only permitted on inner face or forearms i.e. from inside of elbow to the wrist end on the reverse side of the palm / back (dorsal) side of hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other body part are not acceptable and candidates will be barred from further selection.

Note: There will be no relaxation in physical standards.

Training: Training is scheduled to commence in December 2014.

Selected candidates will be inducted as Cadets for 4 year B.Tech Course in Electronics & Communication Or Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala. During the course, Cadets will be allotted Executive or Engineering including Naval Architecture specialization or Electrical Branch. On completion of the course, B.Tech. Degree will be awarded by Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU).

Note: The entire cost of training, including books and reading material will be borne by the Indian Navy. The Cadets will also be provided with Free Clothing and Messing.

Apply Online before 23 June 2014 which is the Last Date for submission of application form.

Whilst applying Online, students are advised to keep the relevant documents readily available to enable the following.

Correct Filling Up of Personal Information is mandatory as Printed in Your Matriculation Certificate.

Fields such as Email and Mobile No. are mandatory.

Click on the Officer Entry Menu Under the Option Apply Online on the Home Page of the website.
After writing the Information in Blank Spaces, Click Preview, check if all the Information is correct.
Before clicking the Print Application Button it should be checked whether all the details entered in the Form are correct as you will not be able to make any corrections after Saving the Record. Candidates can take the Print of the Application Form by entering the relevant details.

Print Two Copies of the Online Application Form having the System Generated Application No. One copy of the application form is to be duly signed and mailed (posted) to Post Box No 04, Main PO, RK Puram, New Delhi – 110 066 along with the following documents:
Self Attested Photograph; Photocopies of 10th and 12th Class pass Certificates along with Mark Sheets, attested by Gazetted Officer.

Selection Procedure: The Indian Navy: 10+2 Cadet (B.Tech.) Entry Scheme (Permanent Commission)


Candidates will be issued call up for Service Selection Board (SSB) Interviews on their performance in Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 equivalent). Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) reserves the right to short-list applications and to fix cut off percentage.. No communication will be entertained on this account. SSB Interviews for Short Listed Candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore / Bhopal / Coimbatore / Vishakhapatnam during August – November 2014.

State I Test consisting of Intelligence Test, Picture Perception and Discussion Tests will be conducted on the second day of arrival at SSB. Candidates who fail to qualify on Stage I will be routed back on the same day.

Stage II Tests comprising of Psychological Testing, Group Testing and Interview will last for 4 days.

Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Medical Examination (Approx Duration 3 to 5 Day) .

3rd AC rail fare is admissible for the SSB Interview to and from home station if appearing for the first time.

On successful completion of training you will be commissioned as Sub Lieutenant. The benefits of being an office in the Indian Navy are given below:

Cost to Company (CTC): The CTC for a Sub Lieutenant would be approximately Rs 66000/- per month. This includes basic pay, DA, Grade Pay, Military Service pay, House Rent Allowance and Transport Allowance. These rates are no statutory and subject to change.

Privileges: In addition to CTC mentioned above, Navy provides Free Medical facilities for self and dependants, Canteen facilities, Entitled rations, Mess / Club / Sports Facilities, Furnished Government Accommodation, Car / Housing Loan at subsidized rates.

Group Insurance & Gratuity: Insurance cover of Rs. 50 lakhs (on contribution) and Gratuity will be granted to the officer as per the latest rules in force.

Leave Entitlements: Officers are entitled to 60 days annual and 20 days casual leave every year (subject to service exigencies). They are also entitled 40% rail concession to any place and free travel (as per extant rules) for self and dependants. Leave during training period as per the Training Policy in force.

Sports & Adventure: The Navy provides facilities to pursue any sport of your liking. In addition, one can learn and participate in adventure sports, such as river rafting, mountaineering, hot air ballooning, hang gliding, wind surfing etc.

Physical Fitness: In the Naval Academy curriculum, a lot of emphasis is laid on physical fitness. You are therefore, advised to remain fit by undertaking regular physical exercise, sports, running, swimming etc so that you can meet the training goals successfully.

Indian Army - University Entry Scheme

Twenty Second Pre Final Year University Entry scheme for Men

Permanent Commission in the July 2012 - 13

Indian Army invites applications from UNMARRIED male Engineering Degree students studying in Pre-Final Year (IIIrd year) in academic session 2011-2012 for Grant of Permanent Commission in the Army.

Candidates studying in FINAL YEAR in 2011-12 can exercise their option for following courses:-

(i) TGC -115 (Jul 2012) Terms and condition will be the same as applicable to regular TGC-115 course

(ii) SSC (T) - 39 (Oct 2012) Terms and condition will be the same as applicable to regular SSC (T)-39 course

(iii) Unmarried female candidates studying in final year can exercise their option for SSCW(T)-10 only. (Terms and condition will be same as applicable to SSCW(T)-10 commencing in Oct 2012.


Important

(a) Induction in TGC/SSC (T)/SSCW (T) entries is an opportunity provided to candidates studying in final year, otherwise, there is no change in existing terms .and conditions and procedure for induction into TGC / SSC(T) Men/Women entries.

(b) Final year candidates should not apply again on-line for TGC-115/
SSC(T)-39 and SSCW (T )-10 Courses, against Notifications that are
given later for these courses.

Eligibility Criteria Indian Army - University Entry Scheme


(a) Nationality: A candidate must either be: (i) a citizen of India, or (ii) a subject of Bhutan, or (iii) a subject of Nepal, or (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, Or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Certificate of eligibility will however not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkhas subjects of Nepal.

(b) Age Limit :

Pre-Final Year candidates

UES - 22 (Pre-Final Year) - Born between 02 Jul 88 and 01 Jul 94 , - Not below 18 yrs and not over 24 yrs.

Final Year candidates

(i) TGC-115 (July 2012) - Born between 02 Jul 85 and 01 Jul 92 - Not below 20 yrs and not over 27 yrs.

(ii) SSC (Tech) Men - 39 (Oct 2012) - Born between 02 Oct 85 and 01 Oct 92 - Not below 20 yrs and not over 27 yrs.

(iii) SSC Women (Tech) - 10 (Oct 2012) - Born between 02 Oct 85 and 01 Oct 92 - Not below 20 yrs and not over 27 yrs.

Note : Age limit mentioned above will be applicable at the time of commencement of course. Matriculation Certificate issued by the Board concerned (CBSE/State Boards/(CSCE) in which date of birth is reflected will be accepted and no subsequent request for change in Date of Birth will be considered or granted. (Admit Card / Marksheet / Transfer / Leaving Certificate etc. are not acceptable)

c) Educational Qualification : Candidates studying in the Pre-Final of the Engineering Degree Course in recognized Universities/ institutions / Colleges will be eligible to apply but must possess the educational qualification at the time of joining training or produce the proof of having obtained the educational qualification within 12 week from the date of commencement of training for the grant of permanent commission in the Army. The candidates who are unable to produce the Degree/Provisional Degree Certificate at the time of joining the training will be inducted on Additional Bond Basis for recovery of the cost of training at IMA /OTA as notified from time to time, in case they fail to produce the requisite Degree/Provisional Degree Certificate within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training.

(d) Army HQ reserves the right to short list applications and to fix cut off percentage of marks for SSB interview based on the aggregate percentage of marks scored by the candidates in the first two/three years of engineering degree course as the case may be. Candidates who have had an "year back / failed" by one year during the engineering degree course are NOT eligible to apply.

PHYSICAL STANDARD (MEN) Indian Army - University Entry Scheme

The minimum acceptable Height is 157.5cms. with corrected weight.
For Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of North Eastern region
of India, Garhwal and Kumaon, the minimum acceptable height will be
5 cm less. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum
acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cms.

(b) Physical Standards : (Women) Indian Army - University Entry Scheme

i) Height and Weight : The minimum acceptable height and weight for women candidates is 152 cm and 42 kg with co-related height and weight. In case of candidates belonging to the North East and hilly areas like Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese and Garhwalis, the height will be relaxed by 5 cms and weight commensurate with reduce height.

(ii) To be passed fit, a candidate must be in good physical and mental health free from any disability like to interface with the efficient performance of duty.

8. Prospective candidates are advised to exercise and keep themselves physically fit, in order to avoid any injury due to the rigorous physical training at Indian Military Academy. In order to be able to adjust to the regime there, candidates are advised to achieve following standards before joining the IMA, if finally selected :-

(a) Running 2.4 km in 15 minutes. (b) Push Ups-13 Nos. (c) Sit Ups-
25 Nos. (d) Chin Ups-6 Nos. (e) Rope Climbing-3-4 meters.

9. VISUAL STANDARDS : (a) (i) The minimum acceptable visual acuity are: Distant Vision (corrected) better eye 6/6, worse eye 6/18, myopia of not more than minus 3.50 including astigmatism. (ii) Candidates who have under-gone or have the evidence of having undergone Radial Keratotomy to improve the visual acuity will be permanently rejected: also candidates who have undergone Laser Surgery for correction of refractive error will be considered for commission in Army if they fulfill following criteria-

(i) Uncomplicated stable LASIK/Excimer (PRK) laser procedure done for Myopia or Hypermetropia, with stable refraction for a period of six months after the procedure.

(ii) A healthy retina.

(iii) Corrected vision should be 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in worse eye,
with maximum residual refraction of 1 3.5 in any meridian for myopia
or hypermetropia.

(iv) Axial length within permissible limits.

(b) To be passed fit, a candidate must be in good physical and mental
health and free from any disability likely to interfere with the efficient
performance of duty.

(c) Visual Standards for Women : The minimum acceptable visual acuity are: Distant vision (corrected) letter eye 6/6, worse 6/18, Myopia of not more than minus 3.5 including Astigmation. Candidates who have undergone or have evidence for having undergone Radial Karatotomy to improve the visual acuity will be permenently rejected. Candidates who have undergone Lasik Surgery for Correction of reflective error are NOT acceptable.

(a) Apply on plain paper (size 30x20 cms) as per (Common Application
Form) format, given in the website: www.joinindianarmy.nic.in

(b) The envelope (white) containing the application should be SUPERSCRIBED IN RED INK indicating clearly the branch of Engineering applied for. For example ‘APPLICATIONS FOR 22 UES ENTRY - ENGINEERING’.

(c) Send your application so as to reach respective Command HQ at the following address on or before 31 Jul 2011:-

(i) HQ Northern Command (A Branch), C/o 56 APO- For students studying in the State of J&K.

(ii) HQ Western command (A Branch), Chandimandir, Pin-134107. For students studying in states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Part of Haryana, (Distt-Ambaia, Kurushestra, Kamal, Jind. The Indian Navy

Applications are invited from unmarried Male Indian citizens for Permanent Commission Officers in the Law Cadre of Executive Branch of the Indian Navy for Course commencing Jan 2011 at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimaia, Kerala.

Eligibility Criteria

Age: 22 to 27 years (candidate must have been born between 02 Jan 1984 to 01 Jan 1989 both dates inclusive).

Educational Qualification:

A Degree in Law qualifying for enrolment as an advocate under Advocates Act 1961, with minimum 55% marks.

Note: Candidates who have not completed their Law Degree (i.e. appearing candidates) need not apply, their applications will not be, accepted.

Physical Standard

Height & weight: (a) Minimum height Male-157 cms with correlated weight

(b) Eye Sight: The minimum acceptable standard for distant vision 6/60, 6/60 correctable to 6/6, 6/12 with glasses. Should not be colour/night blind.

Selection Procedure

The candidates will be issued call up for Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews based on their performance in Law Degree. If a candidate possesses higher qualification with better percentage, his higher qualification will be considered for cutoff. Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) [IHQ-MoD(Navy)] reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cut off percentage. No communication will be entertained on this account.

SSB interviews for short listed candidates will be scheduled during Aug to Nov 2010 at Bangalore/Bhopal or Coimbatore.

The total duration of SSB interviews is of 5 days, consisting of Stage 1 (Day One) and Stage 2 (Four days). Stage 1 Tests consist of Officers intelligence Rating Tests (OIRT) and Picture Perception and Discussion Tests (PDPT). Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage 1 will be routed back on the same day from SSB centre.

Stage 2 Tests consist of Psychological Tests, Group Task Tests, Group Discussion and interview. Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Special Medical Examination at the same venue (approx duration 5 days at nearest military hospital).

Candidates recommended by the SSBs and declared medically fit, will be appointed for training in order of All India Merit depending on the number of vacancies. The confirmation in the service is subject to satisfactory Police Verification Report and Character & Antecedent Certificate.

Change of SSB centre for interview is not permissible under any circumstances.

Any correspondence regarding change of SSB dates be addressed to the President of the SSB on receipt of call up letter.

No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained as a result of tests.

Return 2nd Class Sleeper rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview, if appearing for the first time for the entry.
