Post Dostoral Position Under Ramanujan Fellowship

Theory Division of Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP), Kolkata seeks application for a Post Doctoral position in the area of Cosmology and related topics. The position is under the Ramanujan Fellowship of Prof. Koushik Dutta and is initially for two years or to the end of the fellowship whichever earlier.


Qualification: A candidate with a Ph.D in Theoritical Physics or who has submitted the thesis for a Ph.D. A candidate must be less than 35 years of age at the time of joining. Under Graduate Associateship in Physical and Biophysical Sciences
Appliations are invited from Indian Nationals for selection of Under Graduate Associates under the auspices of the Center for Advanced Research and Education (CARE) of SAHA Institute of Nuclear Physics (SNIP), Kolakata. Candidates from the first of second year science under graduate program (B.Sc. / Integrated M.Sc. in Physics / Chemistry / Biological Sciences) in 2008 who have secured 80% marks in Science and Mathematics and atleast 75% in aggregate in class 12th Board Examination are encouraged to apply. The final selection amongst the shortlisted candidates may involve an interview where the candidate needs to display resourcefulness, passion for scientific research as well as mastery of scientific concepts.
Selected Under Graduate Associates will be exposed to short term courses and laboratory training through projects under the guidance of assigned mentors for total period of about 60 - days. During this period they will receive a stipend (@ Rs150/- per day) alongwith a book grant of Rs. 6000/- per anum. A travel allowance will also be given for outstation Under Graduate Associates. The program is for the under graduate years. On successful completin of the program, associate will be issued a certificate. A few of the undergraduate associates may be selected as Graduate Associates of SNIP if they pursue Master's program in Basic sciences. On successful completion of the M.Sc. Course with first class or equivalet grades they may be considered forabsorption as Research Fellows of SNIP with the usual fellowship.
