NDA & NA Exam on August 21, 2011

The National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II) 2011 will be conducted on August 21, 2011 for admission into Army, Navy and Air Force Wings. The UPSC New Delhi is administering authority for NDA & NA Examination. The courses will commence from June 30, 2012. Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than July 2, 1993 and not later than January 1, 1996 are eligible.

Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2011 as given in Appendix-V of the Commission's notice for the examination published in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar dated April 9, 2011.

The last date for submission of NDA & NA Application Form is 9 May 2011. Students can apply online using official webposrtal of UPSC www.upsc.gov.in or can send paper based offline application form to UPSC at Shahjahan Road, New Delhi either by hand or by post/speed post or by courier, on or before the May 9, 2011.

AIPMT Result 2011

All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Test (AIPMT) 2011 Result of Preliminary examination declared by CBSE New Delhi on April 14, 2011. A total of 26,060 candidates declared qualified in AIPMT 2011 Prelims. Of these who wish to join medical, dental program shall appear for AIPMT 2011 Main examination on May 15, 2011. For all other courses admission shall be made on the basis of AIPMT 2011 Prelims.

Jamia Millia Islamia conducts UG Admission Test 2011

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) New Delhi conducts Common Entrance Test CET for admission into under graduate programs in humanities and languages, social sciences and natural sciences. Tests for humanities and languages will be held June 3 and the last date for filling application forms will be May 4. The tests for natural sciences will also be conducted in two groups June 2 and 3 and the last date of submitting application is May 4. The test for social sciences will be conducted in two groups June 2. The last date for receiving applications is May 5.

SNAP Test Pattern

SNAP Test is held for admission into management programs offered by Symbiosis International University. The test is all India entrance examination conducted across more than 20 cities in India. It’s an objective type / multiple choice questions (mcqs) type entrance examination. The question paper consists of questions from following areas-

  1. General Awareness
  2. General English
  3. Analytical Reasoning
  4. Logical Reasoning
  5. Quantitative Aptitude

There provided 4 choice to chose against each question. 150 questions asked in total. For each wrongly marked answer – 0.25 marks awarded in Symbiosis Test also called SNAP Test.

SNAP General English part consists of 40 questions from verbal reasoning, comprehension and Grammar. For preparation of this section you can refer to CAT study material.

General Awareness also consists of 40 questions and covers areas like international affairs and current issues. Manorama Year Book, India Today and Newspapers like the Hindu will be help full for preparation of this section.

Quantitative section carries 40 questions from algebra, trigonometry, arithmetic, calculus, data interpretation and data sufficiency. For preparation of this section class 11th and class 12th test books are appropriate. However for DI and DS you can refer to CAT books.

Also SNAP Test aspirants are advised to practice SNAP Typical questions, as many as they can. Take numerous mock tests before actually appearing in the SNAP Test.

IIT JEE 2011 Exam Pattern

IIT JEE quite well famed for its pattern changing strategy on year to year basis. Here is exam pattern of IIT JEE 2011. This information is taken from different sources available on www.

In IIT JEE 2011, there were 10 sets for IIT-JEE 2011 "0 to 9". The order of subjects in both papers were the same – Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics

PAPER I -

Total No. of questions: 69
Total marks: 240
Order of the Questions (for all the sets): Physics(23) -> Chemistry(23) -> Maths(23)
Pattern of Paper-1:

Q.No.1 to 7 – Single Correct Choice Type (7 questions for 21 marks).
+3 for correct answer and -1 for wrong answer
Q.No. 8 to 11 – Multiple Correct Choice Type (4 questions for 16 marks).
+4 for correct answer with NO negatives
Q.No. 12 to 16 – Paragraph Type(5 questions for 15 marks). There were 2 paragraphs- one paragraph with 2 questions and the second one with 3 questions. All questions were of Single Correct Choice Type.
+3 for correct answer and -1 for wrong answer
Q.No.17 to 23- Integer Type (7 questions for 28 marks). Answers were of single digit (ie, 0 to 9) .
+4 for correct answer with NO negatives.

Paper II -

Paper 2 was different from paper 1 in terms of the total number of questions, type of questions and the difficulty level. For the first time Multiple Answer Type, Integer Answer Type and Matrix Match Type appeared in one paper.

Total marks: 240
Order of the Questions (for all the sets): Physics(20) -> Chemistry(20) -> Maths(20)
Pattern of Paper-2:

Q.No.1 to 8 – Single Correct Choice Type (8 questions for 24 marks).
+3 for correct answer and -1 for wrong answer
Q.No. 9 to 12 – Multiple Correct Choice Type (4 questions for 16 marks).
+4 for correct answer with NO negatives. There was NO partial marking as well.
Q.No. 13 to 18 – Integer Type (6 questions for 24 marks). Answers were of single digit (i.e., 0 to 9) .
+4 for correct answer with NO negatives.
Q.No.19 & 20- Matrix Match Type (2 questions with 4 rows each – for 16 marks). There were 4 elements in the first column to be matched with 5 elements in the second column.
Each row carried 2 marks. There were NO negative marking.

Subject-wise Analysis of IIT-JEE 2011-

CHEMISTRY: Paper 1 - Difficulty Level: Moderate
Many questions in this part were designed to gauge the conceptual clarity of the test takers.

CHEMISTRY: Paper 2 - Difficulty Level: Tough
This paper was tougher than paper 1. Weightage wise the Physical > Organic > Inorganic formula is maintained. The complexity of Organic Chemistry portions made this interesting one.

PHYSICS: Paper 1 - Difficulty Level: Tough
This paper was a challenging one. Mechanics made the most part.

PHYSICS: Paper 2 - Difficulty Level: Moderate
The difficulty level of this paper was slightly less than paper 1 especially the Integer Answer Type.

MATHEMATICS: Paper 1 - Difficulty Level: Moderate
Few questions in Integer answer type require in-depth understanding of the concepts with firmness in solving problems. Trigonometry made a good portion in this paper; the questions on matrices required quick thinking to understand and solve the questions.

MATHEMATICS: Paper 2 - Difficulty Level: Tough
This paper required doing more calculations comparison to paper 1.
