As authorized by the Punjab Govt. vide notification No. 13/18/08-6Edu.1/9694 dated 17.04.2008 Punjabi University Patiala will hold the State Level Entrance Test for admission to B.Ed. Course for the session 2008-2009 in the Colleges of Education affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh; Punjabi University, Patiala; Guru Nanak Dev University, Amirtsar and Lovely Professional University, Phagwara on June 15,2008 (Sunday) at all the district headquarters including Chandigarh and Abohar.




Eligibility : The Test is open to candidates who have secured 45% (40% for SC/ST/BC [Excluding Economically Backward Classes]) marks in the Graduation / Post Graduation from recognized universities. Those who have appeared for the qualifying examination and whose results have not been declared can also appear provisionally.

Availability of Prospectus : Prospectus containing Entrance Test Form and OMR application form will be available for sale w.e.f. 12.05.2008(afternoon) by hand or by post.

By Hand : Prospectus will be available on payment of Rs. 850/- (Rs. 400/- in case of SC/ST) in cash from University Enquiry and Information Centre, Near Main Gate, Punjabi University Patiala and from the selected Branches of State Bank of Patiala located at Abohar (Main), Amritsar (Mukherjee Marg), Barnala (Main), Bathinda (MSC), Chandigarh (Sector 22-B), Fatehgarh Sahib (Main), Faridkot (Main), Hoshiarpur (Main), Ferozepur (Main), Jalandhar (Shastri Market), Gurdaspur (Main), Kapurthala (Main), Ludhiana (Saban Bazar), Mansa (Main), Moga, Muktsar, Mohali (Main), Nawanshaher (Main), Patiala (Aurbindo Bhawan), Ropar (Main), Sangrur (Main) and Tarn Taran.

IGRUA offers Ab-initio to Commercial Pilot Licence Course (CPL) commencing from November 2008

Eligibility: 10+2 or its equivalent with Physics, Maths & English as main subjects with minimum 55% aggregate marks in Maths & Physics. For SC/ST candidates and those having higher degree in Science minimum aggregate marks in Physics and Maths is 50%.

Duration: 14 Months

Total Seats: 84 (General 65, SC 13 and ST 06) inducted in batches every 2 months from November, 2008 onwards.

ii. The admission is restricted to those working or residing within a radius of 75 km from Annamalainagar.

iii. The application should be sent through their employers. However the advance copy with all documents complete in all respect should be received before the last date. The application through proper channel is to be received before entrance test.

Minimum Experience on 01-07-2008 3 years after passing Diploma Course
Examinations. Entrance Examination and interview will be conducted on 01-07-2008 Forenoon at Annamalainagar.

3. B.Pharm. Degree programme (Four Academic Years):

I. A Pass in H.Sc. Examination OR an equivalent examination with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Botany & Zoology/ Mathematics / Bio-Technology/ Computer Science. For SC/ST Candidates the minimum qualification is a pass in the above subjects.

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana" (KVPY) - Fellowship - 2008 for Medicine & Engineering streams

ELIGIBILITY

Basic Sciences

Stream SA: Students joining in the XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2008-2009 and having secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science in the X Standard Board Examination.

Stream SB: Students pursuing First Year B.Sc. degree / M.Sc. Integrated (UG Programme) in Basic Sciences during the academic year 2008-2009 and having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination.

Stream SB+2: “Students of Class 12 (+2) of the academic year 2008 - 2009 who are aspiring to join ISSER for Integrated M. S programme for the session August 2008 may also take the KVPY Aptitude Test for the SB Stream provided they secure a minimum of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in X Standard Board Examination

Stream SP(Basic Sciences): Students pursuing XI, XII standard, First or Second year of any UG programme in Basic Sciences during the academic year 2008 – 2009 and having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks aggregate in X Standard and XII Standard Board examination may apply by completing a science based research project. The report of the project, chosen and executed by the applicant and supervised by a teacher/professional in the relevant field, to be submitted along with the application. Based on the project submitted and scrutiny of application forms, short listed candidates will be called for an interview, which is the final stage of the selection procedure. The interview will be conducted at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore during the month of December 2008 or first week of January 2009. Application without the project report will not be considered

SP(Engineering)

Stream SP (Engineering): Students joining First / Second year B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch during the academic year 2008 - 2009 and having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks aggregate in X and XII Standard Board Examinations. Students joining Second year B.E./ B.Tech./B.Arch must have passed with a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) in the First year exam of B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. A hard copy of the Science/Engineering based research project is required along with the application.

Note for Students applying for SP Engineering Stream

KVPY application requires the report of a project, chosen and executed by the applicant and supervised by a teacher/professional in the relevant field, to be submitted along with the application. Based on the project submitted and scrutiny of application forms, short listed candidates will be called for an interview, which is the final stage of the selection procedure. The interview will be conducted at IIT, Bombay during the month of December 2008. Application without the project report will not be considered.

Medicine

Stream SP (Medicine): Students joining First / Second Professional year of M.B.B.S. programme during the academic year 2008 - 2009. Students must have passed XII Standard Board Examination with 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks aggregate in Science subjects or passed First Professional MBBS exam with not less than 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks. A Copy of the Bio – Medical research project is required along with the application.

Note for Students applying for Medicine Stream SP (Medicine)

KVPY application requires the report of a project, chosen and executed by the applicant and supervised by a teacher/professional in the relevant field, to be submitted along with the application. Based on the project submitted and scrutiny of application forms, short listed candidates will be called for an interview, which is the final stage of the selection procedure. The interview will be conducted at ICMR, New Delhi. Application without the Bio-Medical project report will not be considered.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Basic Sciences (SA and SB)

After scrutiny of application forms and based on the performance in the Board Examination, aall the eligible candidates from Streams SA and SB will be called for a written aptitude test (multiple choice). The test will be conducted at different centers across the country on 2nd November 2008 (First Sunday). The details of the venue of the aptitude tests will be put on KVPY web to the in October 2008. Based on the performance in the aptitude test candidates will be called for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.

Sciences (SP); SP (Engineering) and SP (Medicine)

KVPY applicant is required to submit the project report, chosen and executed by the candidate exclusively for this application. The projects done jointly with other candidates are not considered for KVPY Fellowship award. Applicant’s creativity and originality should be amply reflected in the project. This project has to be supervised by a teacher/professional in the relevant field. Based on the project submitted and scrutiny of application forms, short listed candidates will be called for an interview, which is the final stage of the selection procedure. The interview will be conducted either at IISc, Bangalore or IIT-Bombay, Mumbai or ICMR, New Delhi during the month of December 2008 or first week of January 2009.

Please Note that applications without the project report will not be considered. The project should not be a routine one (such as measuring well known property of materials etc.) The supervising teacher / professional is required to provide a recommendation letter certifying the extent of the applicant’s original contribution to the project.

a. Each Stream has its own application form. Students who wish to apply for more than one Stream should submit separate applications.

b. Applicants may apply either by Hard copy or Online. (www.iisc.ernet.in/kvpy).

c. Application forms may be down loaded from the KVPY website. Those who are unable to do so, may request for a Hard Copy.

d. Hard copy of the application form can be obtained from KVPY on request by sending a processing fee of Rs. 200/- (Rs. 100/- for SC/ST) by means of remitting Rs. 200 (Rs. 100/- for SC/ST) “to any core banking branches of STATE BANK OF INDIA, payable at all branches in India. Paid into the credit of Administrative Executive, KVPY A/c. No. 10270577392” and send the “pay-in-slip” along with the request, clearly indicating the stream (i.e.SA, SB, SP etc.) on the envelope

e. The SC/ST – candidates should provide a copy of the caste certificate issued by a competent authority in the prescribed proforma.

f. The completed application form along with the

1. Caste certificate in the case of SC/ST candidate

2. Project report in the case of SP/Basic Sciences/ Engineering/ Medicine

3. copy of the marks statement of the qualifying examination(s), in the case of SP (Engineering), SP(Medicine).

4. Processing fee of Rs. 200/- (Rs. 100/- for SC/ST) should reach KVPY on or before 12.9.08 (Friday).

g. KVPY will not be responsible for postal delays in receiving completed application.
