Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D. and M.Tech. Programmes of the Institute for the Academic Year 2009 – 2010.

At present the DIAT conducts 11 Post Graduate Degree courses in the area of Defence Technologies (as given below ) leading to M. Tech. Degree. All M. Tech programmes are recognized by the AICTE.

Ph. D. Programmes:

Science: Pure/Applied Chemistry, Pure/Applied Physics, Pure/Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Library & Information Science

Engineering: Chemical Engg, Electrical Engg, Electronics and Telecommunication Engg, Computer Engg, Metallurgical Engg, Material Science and Technology, Mechanical Engg, Control Engg, Aerospace Engg, Marine Engg, Armament Engg, Vehicle Technology, Industrial Engg, Production Engg.

M.Tech Programmes:

Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical (Weapons), Computer Science & Engineering, Gas Turbine Technology, High Energy Materials, Laser & Electro Optics, Modelling & Simulation
Eligibility: (a) Ph.D.: 55% marks or equivalent in M.E./M. Tech. or Equivalent for Ph.D. in Engineering and Master of Science or Equivalent with 55% marks or equivalent for Ph.D. in Science.

(b) M. Tech: 55% Marks or 5.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination and valid GATE/UGC-CSIR NET exam score.

(c) The candidates who are in the final semester of their degree are eligible to apply, Mark sheet up to the last semester should be enclosed.

(d) Provisional certificate in such cases along with Mark sheet of the final semester is required to be submitted before commencement of programme.
Application procedure: Candidates can download the application form and the details from our website www.diat.ac.in. Duly filled applications should be accompanied by prescribed registration fee of Rs. 200/-(Rs. 100/- for SC/ST candidates) by means of DD drawn in favour of “Vice Chancellor, Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, PUNE – 25” payable at State Bank of India, Girinagar Branch(Code 02155), PUNE – 411 025. The candidates are requested to write their name and department (or name of sub-discipline in case of Ph.D. applicant), which they are applying on the reverse side of the draft. The application form with necessary enclosures should reach to the Registrar, DIAT, Girinagar, PUNE-411025 by 30 Apr 09. Separate application must be sent for each programme.

Eligibility: For B.Tech:

The minimum academic qualification for admission is a pass in the 10+2 or its equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Computer Science. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in 2009 are also eligible to apply for consideration of provisional admission. All candidates who are offered provisional admission will be required to produce the proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent) to the Institute latest by 30 October 2009, failing which such provisional admission will stand cancelled. If a candidate is found ineligible at a later date, even after admission to DA-IICT, his/her admission will be cancelled. All admissions will be subject to verification of facts from the original certificates/documents of the candidates. The decision of the concerned authorities of DA-IICT regarding eligibility of any candidate shall be final.

Age:

Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 01 October 1984 are eligible. Date of birth as recorded in the 10 or 10+2 standard certificate, as issued by the Board/University, only, will be taken as authentic. Candidates must produce this certificate in original as a proof of their age at the time of counselling.

For M.Tech.:

Candidates having/appearing for the B Tech / BE degree in ICT and other allied disciplines such as, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation, IT and other allied disciplines OR M Sc degree in Physics, Electronics, Mathematics or Statistics may apply.

Candidates must have 60% marks or equivalent in the qualifying degree as per the norm set by respective Institute or University in the above degree. The candidates appearing for their final year examinations of their qualifying degrees in 2009 may also apply provided they produce a provisional degree certificate or any other proof of the completion of degree certificate before 30 October 2009.

For M.Sc. (IT):

A graduate with a minimum of 60% marks in their qualifying degree examination may apply. Candidates appearing in their final degree examination and expecting to complete it by July 2009 may also apply subject to the condition that they obtain the 60% cumulative record after final examination and submit the provisional degree certificate or any other proof of the completion of degree certificate before 30 October 2009 to the Institute. The students must have at least two courses of Mathematics or Statistics in their undergraduate curriculum and must have completed at least one course on computer science.

For M.Sc. (ICT in Agriculture and Rural Development):

Bachelor degree in Agriculture/Agriculture Engineering/ Veterinary Science/Animal Husbandry/ Dairy Science/Forestry/Horticulture and other allied disciplines. A minimum 60% at the bachelor’s level in the disciplines specified above is required

For M.Des. (Multi-media):

4 years Degree / Diploma after 10 + 2

For Doctor of Philosophy:

A. Candidates willing to pursue research in the ICT and related domain must possess a degree in:

MTech/ME in: Information and Communication Technology related areas such as ICT, CS, IT, CT, EC, ECE, EE, Telecommunications, Instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering and allied disciplines. Or

BTech/BE/MSc in: Information and Communication Technology related areas such as ICT, CS, IT, CT, EC, ECE, EE, Telecommunication, Instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering and allied disciplines. Or

MS /MSc degree of DA-IICT and MCA.

Candidate interested in pursuing PhD in ICT and related areas must have at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree.

B. Candidates with M.Phil. in the field of Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Mathematics, and Sciences may apply if he/she is interested in pursuing research in these areas, please note:

Candidates with an MSc degree (or MS Degree of DA-IICT), unless they have a subsequent M Phil degree, will be considered equivalent to candidates with a B Tech / BE degree and will need to fulfill additional course and research requirements.
Application procedure: For B.Tech. Programmes

Candidate has to apply in the prescribed DA-IICT Application Form. A photocopy of the AIEEE 2009 Admit Card is also required to be attached with the completed DA-IICT Application Form and sent to the Institute in the envelope provided for the purpose. DA-IICT Application number should be written on the top right comer of the photocopy of the AIEEE admit card. The prescribed DA-IICT Application Form can be availed as under:

- The Form along with the Information Brochure and Admission Procedure can be availed for Rs. 800 at select Branches of Axis Bank.

Alternatively, it can be obtained by sending a demand draft, of Rs. 850 drawn in favour of “DA-IICT” and payable at Ahmedabad, to the address given at the end. Candidates must write their name and complete mailing address with phone number on the back of the demand draft. DA-IICT will not be responsible for any loss or postal delay.

- Candidates can also apply online by making an online payment (through credit card) of Rs 800/-.

For M.Tech. / M.Sc. Programmes:

Applications to the PG programs are preferably to be made online.

Application form can also be downloaded from the website and sent by post.

Application fee for online submission is Rs. 800/- while for submitting the downloaded application by post it is Rs. 1000/-. The application fee is to be paid through a Demand Draft, drawn in favour of “DA-IICT” and payable at Ahmedabad.

Candidates are advised to write their name and the program applied for at the reverse of the DD. The institute takes no responsibility for loss of DD in transit.

Eligibility: 1. M.Sc. Course in Anatomy, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Pharmacology, Physiology :- The candidate must possess a degree of M.B.B.S./ B.D.S. and have secured at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) or B.V.Sc./B.Pharma or B.Sc. degree course (3 years) with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates).

2. M.Sc. Perfusion Technology and M.Sc. Nuclear Medicine Technology:-

i) M.Sc. Perfusion Technology :- B.Sc. with Biology or B.Sc. in Perfusion Technology from a recognized University with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST Candidates).

ii) M.Sc. Nuclear Medicine Technology :- B.Sc. in Nuclear Medicine or B.Sc. with Physics / Chemistry! Mathematics or B.Sc. in allied related subject i.e. Radio-diagnosis (MRT), Radiotherapy or B.Sc. in Life Sciences with Physics as a main subject from a recognized University with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST Candidates).

3. M. Biotechnology :- The candidate must possess a degree of M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. and have secured at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) or B.V.Sc. / B.Pharma or B.Sc. degree course (3 years) with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates).

4. M.Sc. Nursing :- B.Sc.(Hons.)Nursing / B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Certificate) / Post Basic from an educational Institution/University recognized by the Indian Nursing Council. Candidate must have secured at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in the qualifying examination and is registered as Nurse/Midwife with any State Nurses Registration Council.

N.B.: A candidate is NOT allowed to submit more than one application for M.Sc. Courses.

5. B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing :- The candidate must have passed 12th class under 10+2 system or an equivalent examination with Physics,Chemistry, Biology and English securing not less than 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST candidates) in aggregate in these subjects. Only female candidates are eligible.

6. B.Sc. (Hons.) Para-Medical Courses :- The candidate must have passed 12th class under 10+2 system or an equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics securing not less than 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST) in aggregate in these subjects.
Application procedure: There is a common Prospectus-cum-Application Form for all the courses mentioned above (Only one application has to be submitted for the two Para-Medical courses). The Prospectus-cum-Application Form can be obtainedBY SPEED POST/ REGISTERED POST by sending a written request along with crossed BANK DRAFT for Rs.1050/- (Rs.850/- for SC/ST Category) in favour of "M.Sc./B.Sc. Entrance Examination - 2009" payable at New Delhi and it should be valid upto September 2009. Indian Postal Orders, Money Orders, Cheques or Cash will not be accepted for postal sale. The request should reach the Assistant Controller of Examinations, All India Institute of Medical Sciences,New Delhi-110 608 on or before 15th April, 2009.

The following words should be written on top of the envelope: " Request for Application Form for M.Sc./ B.Sc. Courses - 2009". The address at which Application Form is required should be written clearly in CAPITAL LETTERS and with PIN code.

AIIMS will not be responsible for delay / non-receipt of Application Form caused by illegible or incomplete address.

Prospectus-cum-Application Form costing Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 800/- in case of SC/ST candidates) can also be obtained against CASH PAYMENT from (i) SBI Parliament Street Branch, New Delhi, (ii) SBI Main Branch, M.G Road, Thiruvananthapuram, (iii) Park Street Branch, Kolkata, (iv) IIT Powai Branch, Mumbai, (v) M.G. Road Branch, Guwahati & (vl) Sultania Road Branch, Bhopal from 23rd March, 2009 to 15th April, 2009 and SBI AIIMS Campus Branch, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi from 23rd March, 2009 to 21st April, 2009.

IMPORIANT : (1) Candidates must obtain application forms ONLY from an authorised branch of SBI or by post from Examination Section of AIIMS. Forms obtained from an unauthorized source will be rejected. (2) Candidates are advised to procure application forms as early as possible.

If the Application Forms are sold out before the last date of sale and the same are not available, AIIMS/SBI Ansari Nagar or its specified branches will not be responsible for any consequences that may arise due to non-availability of forms.
