CBSE Class 10th & 12th Exams from 1March, 2010





Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) New Delhi will hold Class 10th and Class 12 Board Examinations from March 1 onwards. The detailed date sheet will be announced later. First time in its academic history, CBSE will follow grading system, students will gate Grade Performance subject wise.

PhD Admissions

Ph.D. degree will be available in the Engineering disciplines of Chemical, Electrical and Mechanical; in Science disciplines of Chemistry and Physics and Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines of Economics/Finance, English, Sociology, Philosophy.
Eligibility: One of the following in appropriate areas:

A. First class or equivalent Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology (55% for SC/ST)

B. A First class Master’s degree (55% for SC/ST) in Science or a first class in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (55% for SC/ST).

C. A First class Master’s degree (55% for SC/ST) in Arts/Commerce OR a first class in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (55% for SC/ST).

Candidates meeting the above mentioned requirement must also fulfill one of the following additional requirements :

-Valid GATE score
-CSIR / UGC / NBHM / DBT award
-Minimum 2 years of professional work experience.
Application procedure: Application forms for admission to Ph.D. Programme can be obtained & submitted throughout the year. Such applications will be processed from time to time. Candidates can mention upto THREE disciplines (in order of preferences) in one application form. For further choices, if any, additional forms may be used. Those who are applying for multiple disciplines are required to submit as many sets of complete application materials.

Along with the Application form, candidates are required to submit:
a) Statement of Purpose Form
b) Recommendations Letters (At least Two)

Eligibility: Qualifying examination requirement for various medical Courses

(a) MBBS degree from a recognized University or from any other University recognized as equivalent thereto by NIMHANS and by the Medical Council of India.

(b) The candidate should have completed compulsory rotation internship of one year after MBBS or its equivalent recognized by Medical Council of India on or before the date of commencement of course. A certificate to that effect has to be produced. The candidate should also have full registration with State Medical Council.

(c) Candidates who have MD/MS/DNB/DPM from a recognized University or from any other University recognized as equivalent thereto by NIMHANS and by the Medical Council of India may apply for the course. However, Candidates who are awaiting the results may also appear for theentrance test subject to production of proof of having passed the examination in writing issued by the University on or before the date of commencement of course.

Qualifying Examination Requirement For Various Non-medical Courses

(d) Candidates with M.Sc./MA/MSW/ Ayurvedic Graduation/ BE/ B.Tech./ B.Sc. /B.Sc. (Hons) Nursing/ B.Sc. Engineering should have passed the examination from a recognized University or from any other University recognized as equivalent thereto, securing not less than 55% of marks in aggregate on or before the date ofEntrance test . Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examinations and are awaiting results, may also apply. However, such candidates will be eligible to appear in theEntrance test only if they produce the proof of having passed the examination in writing issued by the University as on the date of Entrance test.

(e) Candidates with Master’s degree obtained through research and awarded on the basis of the evaluation of the thesis (from a University recognized by NIMHANS which does not award marks at the master’s level) are also eligible to apply for Ph.D. programme.

(f) Candidates with PUC or 10 + 2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with 50% aggregate in the above subjects can apply for B.Sc. inNursing course.

(g) Candidates with PUC or 10 + 2 with English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology or job oriented diploma courses from a recognized board can apply for B.Sc. in Radiography course.

Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing (DPN)

a) Should possess ‘A’ Grade certificate in General Nursing recognized by Indian Nursing council.

b) Should be a registered Nurse in the State Nursing Council with two years experience.

Diploma in Neurological and Neurosurgical Nursing (DNN)

a) Should possess ‘A’ Grade certificate in General Nursing recognized by Indian Nursing Council.

b) Should be a registered Nurse in the State Nursing Council with two years experience.

AGE LIMIT: For MD & DPM Courses the age should not be more than 32 years and, relaxable in case of SC/ST Candidates by a maximum of 5 years as on 2.5.2010. For sponsored candidates age should not be more than 45 years as on 2.5.2010

Application procedure: Application forms for all the courses are available online at the NIMHANS website www.nimhans.kar.nic.in . The applications have to be filled online and submitted online. Printout of the Application Abstract with the latest passport size photograph affixed (in the column provided) along with the Demand Draft drawn in favour of The Director, NIMHANS, Bangalore – 560 029 and relevant enclosures should be sent to the Director, NIMHANS, Hosur Road, Bangalore – 560 029 by superscribing the name of the course(s) applied for, on the Envelope without fail.

A candidate can apply for a maximum of 4 courses only (Medical & Non-Medical inclusive) provided they are eligible.

The Application fee for both Medical & Non-Medical courses is Rs.1000/- per course for General candidates and Rs.750/- per course for SC/ST candidates

Foreign Nationals are required to submit their applications through the Diplomatic Channel (through the Ministry of External Affairs). They shall also appear for the commonEntrance Test along with the other candidates.

National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT)





International Diploma Course in Guidance and Counseling through Distance/Online Mode in Collaboration with Commonwealth of Learning (COL). – One Year

Admission is open to candidates from India, other SAARC and Afro-Asian countries. Candidates from different regions of India will be admitted on regional basis at DEPFE, NIE, New Delhi and Regional Institutes of Education at Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysore and Shillong.

Eligibility

• In-service teachers – graduates with teaching degree (at any level).

• Candidates ‘presently not working’ – graduation with teaching degree and at least two years of teaching or related experience.

• Postgraduates in psychology/ education/ social work / child development/ special education/human resource development. Preference will be given to those with at leastone year of teaching or related experience.

• Candidates from outside India who are not graduates but have teaching degree are required to have three years of work experience in the relevant area.

Minimum % of marks for all target groups is 50% (5% relaxation for SC/ST).

No. of seats Maximum 50 per study centre (30% seats at each centre are kept for candidates from outside India). Reservation apply as perGovernment of India norms.

Duration and phasing: One year, from 4.1.2010 to 3.1.2011

Guided Self-Learning: Six Months - (Distance/ Online)
Intensive Practicum*: Three Months - (Face-to-Face)
Internship: Three Months - (in Home Town)

Medium of instruction: English. Good command over written and spoken English is required due to international participation.

Admission procedure

Screening of candidates will be done by a committee following a selection criteria. Shortlisted candidates will be called at the study centre in their region for selection test which includes essay writing and interview. No TA/DA will be given for traveling to the study centre to attend the selection process.

Two year full time management programmes in MBA, MBA (IB), MBA (HR), MBA (Biotech) – 2010

Eligibility: For MBA, MBA (IB), MBA (HR):

(A) (i) A Bachelor's/Post Graduate Degree in any discipline of the University or a degree of any other University which has been recognised by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate.

Provided that in the case of candidates having Bachelor's degree of the University through Modern Indian Languages [Hindi/Urdu/Punjabi (Gurmukhi script) and/ or in a Classical Language (Sanskrit/ Persian/ Arabic) or degree of any other University obtained in the same manner recognised by the Syndicate, 50% marks in the aggregate shall be calculated by taking into account full percentage of marks in all the papers in Language excluding the additional optional paper, English and the elective subject taken together. OR

(ii) A pass in the final examination conducted by the (a) Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or England, or (b) Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India or England, and (c) Institute of Company Secretaries of India. OR

(iii) AMIE Examination with 50% marks or more after having passed the diploma examination with 60% marks or above and have at least 5 years research/teaching or professional experience. AND

(B) Minimum of 10% score (5% in case of SC/ST candidates) in each component of the Common Admission Test (CAT) viz., quantitative, logic & data interpretation, and verbal and/or any other component which may be added later at any stage to the CAT.

For MBA (Biotech):

(A) A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biological Sciences, i.e., Biology, Botany, Microbiology, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Genetics, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Veterinary Sciences, BE/ B.Tech. (Biotechnology), B.Sc. (Bio-informatics), MBBS, BDS and BE (Informatics) of a University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. AND

(B) Minimum of 10% score (5% in case of SC/ST candidates) in each component of Common Admission Test (CAT), i.e., quantitative, logic & data interpretation, and verbal and/or any other component which may be added later at any stage to the CAT.

Application procedure: APPLY SEPARATELY TO UBS, CHANDIGARH. APPLICATION FORM and HANDBOOK OF INFORMATION 2010 will be available at Post Office, Sector-14, Panjab University, Chandigarh, on payment of Rs.1600/- (Rs.800/- for SC/ST candidates) from October 26. 2009 to November 26, 2009.

Forms can also be obtained by post up to November 13, 2009 from Manager, Publication Bureau, Panjab University, Chandigarh, by enclosing a crossed Bank Draft for Rs.1680l- (Rs.880/- for SC/ST candidates) in favour of Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh, payable at Chandigarh, and a self-addressed envelope (30 x 25 cms).
