Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Geologists Examination–2010

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Geologists’ Examination, 2010 commencing from 04th December, 2010 for recruitment to the posts of Geologist, Group A in the Geological Survey of India and Jr. Hydro geologist (Scientist ‘B’), Group ‘A’ and Asstt. Hydro geologist, Gr. ‘B' in the Central Ground Water Board. The examination will be held at various centres across the country.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limits: Candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on 1st January, 2010.

The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / Other Backward Classes / Physically Handicapped and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice

Educational Qualifications: A candidate must hold (i) Master’s Degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology: or (ii) Master’s Degree in Mineral Exploration (for posts in Geological Survey of India only), or (iii) Master’s Degree in Hydrogeology (for posts in Central Ground Water Board only) from a recognized University; or (iv)

Diploma of Associateship in Applied Geology of the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.

Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in Appendix-II of Rules for the Geologist’s Examination, 2010 published in the Gazette of India dated 19th June, 2010.

Application Procedure

(a) Candidates, who wish to apply offline, must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices / Post Offices (specified in Appendix-lll of the Notice published in the Employment News dated 19.06.2010) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs.20/- (Rupees Twenty only).

Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination. In case of any difficulty in obtaining Application Forms from the designated HP’Os / POs, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC’s "FORMS SUPPLY MONITORING CELL" over Telephone No.011- 23389366. FEE: (a) Candidates applying Offline (through Common Application Form) are required to pay a fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only.

(b) Candidates applying Online are required to pay a reduced fee of Rs.50/- (Rupees Fifty only) either by remitting the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa, ‘Master Credit / Debit Card.

(c) All Female candidates / SC / ST / Physically Handicapped candidates are exempted from payment of Fee. (OBC candidates are required to pay full fee).

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum eligibility criteria for applying to admission to these courses are as mentioned in the Information Brochures issued at the time of submission of application form for MHT-CET 2010 and to be issued at the time of submission of online application form.

Application Procedure

The “Online Application Form” is being made available to only those eligible candidates, who are desirous of seeking admission to the aforesaid colleges through centralised Admission Process on the official website www.dte.org.in/fe2010 .

Aspiring candidates are required to fill in the Online Application Form, take the printout of the Online Application Form and Confirm the Online application form in person along with duly signed printout of the Online Application form, required documents (both originals & attested copies) at the Application Form Receipt Center (ARC) listed below as per schedule.

The merit list of eligible candidates for Centralized Admission Process (CAP) will be displayed on website.

Applications of Maharashtra State, OMS and AIEEE candidates received by post at ARC/DTE office will be rejected and no communication will be done with the candidate.

The Information Brochure containing Institute Information, course wise sanctioned intake, choice codes, Instructions to fill in the online option form of each CAP rounds, Rules of Eligibility to participate in CAP Rounds etc. will be made available to all eligible Candidates free of cost after showing Receipt –cum- Identity Card or Score card of MHT-CET 2010 at the ARCs, before filing up the Online Application form.

Candidates should carefully go through the entire Information Brochure and follow the instructions set out therein for further course of selection and admission. Note:

1. It is MANDATORY for all eligible aspiring Maharashtra State, AIEEE-2010 (Paper-1) qualified and J&K Migrant candidates to submit and confirm Online application form for Engineering/Technology.
