Eligibility: 1) Ph D programmes: For Engineering Departments: Master's Degree in Engineering/ Technology in relevant areas with first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5 on 10 point scale), for other departments: Master's degree in appropriate branch of Science/ Humanities/Social Sciences with a first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5 on 10 point scale).
2) M Tech (Full Time) programmes: A valid GATE score along with Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology with a first class or minimum 60% Marks or CGPA of 6.50 (on 10 point scale) or equivalent. However, if the seats remain vacant, candidates without GATE score shall be considered.
For sponsored seats, Candidates serving AICTE approved technical Institutes/Industry/R&D organizations/National Laboratories having above mentioned academic qualifications and having more than two years teaching/professional experience are eligible.
3) M Tech (Part Time) programmes: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology in relevant allied discipline with minimum 60% marks or CGPA of 6.5 (on 10 point scale). For admission to Material Science and Technology, candidates with Master’s degree in Physics/Chemistry with minimum 60% marks or CGPA of 6.5 (on 10 point scale) are also eligible.
Further, an applicant seeking admission to an M Tech (part time) programme must be sponsored from a technical Institute approved by AICTE/ Industry /R&D organization/National Laboratory. Further, he/she must have two years (minimum) of teaching/research/professional experience to his/her credit on the last date of receipt of applications.
4) M Sc (Full Time) programme: Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline with 60% aggregate marks or CGPA of 6.50 (on 10 point scale). For admission to M Sc in Physics, a pass in Mathematics at Bachelor’s level is compulsory.

Application form duly filled accompanied by self-attested Photostat copies of the relevant certificates/ testimonials, alongwith a crossed demand draft of Rs.600/- (Rs.300/- for SC/ST candidates) towards application fee drawn in favour of “Director, Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar payable at Jalandhar should reach the concerned Head of Department by due date, i.e. May 22, 2009. Master of Technology Course: (M. Tech.)
Master of Technology course is of 24 months (4-semester) duration and is offered in the following areas:

Advanced diploma course of 18 months (3-semester) duration is offered in the following areas:
(b) Forge Technology
Eligibility: For Post Doctoral Fellow, a Ph.D degree is mandatory for Ph.D. The candidates should have Master Degree in appropriate branch of engineering with minimum CGPA of 6.5 or 60% from a recognized institute/university. First class Master degree in basic and applied sciences will also be considered. A valid GATE/NET score is necessary for scholarship for candidates without an M.Tech. degree.
Application may be sent on plain paper giving details of curriculum vitae including academic achievements and work experience. Applications are generally entertained twice in a year in the months of June and December.
For Master of Technology Course: (M. Tech.)
(a)Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/ Metallurgical/ Production Engineering or Equivalent
(b)Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/ Metallurgical/ Production / Aeronautical/ Chemical/ Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering.
(c)Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/ Metallurgical/ Ceramic/Materials Science and Engineering or Master of Science in Physics / Chemistry.
(d)Bachelor’s Degree in any branch of Engineering or Master of Science in Physics/ Chemistry/ Environmental Science (with mathematics up to Bachelor level).
Minimum CGPA of 6.5 or 60% aggregate marks for General and CGPA of 6.0 or 55% aggregate marks for SC/ST candidates. Selection of candidates will be done on the basis of GATE score, marks obtained in last qualifying examinations and interview. A valid GATE score is mandatory for grant of scholarship (Rs.8000/- per month at present) as per AICTE norms. GATE score is not mandatory for sponsored /self financing candidates.
For Advanced Diploma Course: (ADC)
Diploma in Mechanical/Metallurgical /Production Engineering or B.Sc (Phy.,Chem.,Maths) with 50% marks for Genera/OBC category & 45% for SC/ST.
Candidates appearing in Final Examination may also apply.
Application procedure: Application forms (indicating name of the course) can be obtained from the office of Chairman, Academic Affairs, NIFFT,Hatia, Ranchi -834 003 by sending requisite fee in the form of demand draft drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FOUNDRY AND FORGE TECHNOLOGY payable at Ranchi along with self addressed envelope of size 28x16 cm bearing stamp worth Rs. 25/- Institute will not be responsible for any postal /loss. Alternatively, the application form and other information can be downloaded from the institute’s website www.nifft.ernet.in.
For Advanced Diploma Course: Rs. 300/- for General /OBC and Rs.80/-for SC/ST Candidates.
For Master of Technology Candidates:Rs.350/- for General /OBC and Rs.100/-for SC/ST Candidates .
