Applications are invited for the admission to Research programmes for January 2011 sessionunder Full-Time / Part-Time mode in the under mentioned disciplines.

Engineering: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics Engg, Electronics & Instrumentation, Computer Science & Engg., Electronics & Communication, Information Technology, Polymer Technology

Science & Humanities: Crescent Business School, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, Computer Applications


Eligibility Criteria

For Ph.D. Programmes: Master’s degree of this University or any other qualification recognized as equivalent there to in the field of study. OR

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology of this University or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in the field of study with a minimum of 10 years of R&D experience in National Research laboratories / Public sector undertakings and with a minimum of three publications in refereed journals / two patents.

For M.S (By Research) programme:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology / M.Sc in science of this University or any other University recognized as equivalent thereto in the field of study.

First class or a minimum of 60 percent marks / CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale in the qualifying examination (55 percent mark or CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale in the case of SC / ST candidate). For M.A (English) Degree holder including SC/ST applicants a minimum of 55 percent marks or CGPA of 6.0 on 10 point scale is necessary.

Application Procedure

Application forms for Ph.D. / M.S. (By Research) Degree Programmes can be downloaded from the above website and submitted to “The Director (Admission), B.S. Abdur Rahman University, Chennai – 48” with necessary certificates and a DD for Rs.500/- drawn in favour of “B.S. Abdur Rahman University”, Payable at Chennai.

The Application form can also be obtained either in person or through post by paying a DD for Rs. 500/-.

Candidates applying for admission to more than one Department should use separate application form for each Department.

The Candidates should indicate clearly the Department and Area of Research in the space provided in the application form.

Note: Research fellowships (JRF / SRF) are available for Full-Time Ph.D Scholars in all the Departments. JRF will carry a monthly stipend of Rs.10000/- and SRF will carry a monthly stipend of Rs.12000/- .
