GATE 2013 Exam Dates

GATE 2013 is offered in two versions GATE 2013 Computer Based Test / CBT and GATE 2013 Paper Based Test / PBT

GATE 2013 Online Exam Schedule

Date - 20 January 2013  (Sunday); Time - 09:00 hrs–12:00 hrs: Exam for following papers will be held:

  • Architecture and Planning - AR
  • Civil Engineering - CE
  • Geology and Geophysics - GG
  • Mathematics     MA
  • Metallurgical Engineering - MT
  • Physics - PH

Date - 20 January 2013  (Sunday); Time - 14:00 hrs–17:00 hrs: Exam for following papers will be held:

  • Aerospace Engineering -    AE
  • Agricultural Engineering - AG
  • Biotechnology - BT
  • Chemical Engineering - CH
  • Chemistry - CY
  • Mining Engineering - MN
  • Engineering Sciences - XE*
  • Life Sciences - XL*

GATE 2013 Offline Exam Schedule


Date - 10 February 2013  (Sunday); Time - 09:00 hrs–12:00 hrs: Exam for following papers will be held:

  • Computer Science and Information Technology - CS
  • Mechanical Engineering - ME
  • Production and Industrial Engineering - PI

Date - 10 February 2013  (Sunday); Time - 14:00 hrs–17:00 hrs: Exam for following papers will be held:
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering - EC
  • Electrical Engineering - EE
  • Instrumentation Engineering - IN

Note- Letters against a subject represent GATE 2013 Subject Code e.g Food Technology - M; M is subject code

Important about GATE 2013 Examination / GATE 2013 Scholarship Test


All the papers will contain few questions that test the General Aptitude (Language and Analytical Skills), apart from the core subject of the paper.

XE Paper

A candidate appearing in the XE paper has to answer the following

    Section A – Engineering Mathematics (compulsory)
    GA – General Aptitude (compulsory)
    Any two of XE sections B to G


XL Paper

A candidate appearing in the XL paper has to answer the following

    Section H – Chemistry (compulsory)
    GA – General Aptitude (compulsory)
    Any two of XL sections I to M
