The  Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata was established in 2006 for conducting courses in leading areas of sciences, engineering & technology and humanities. It's an institute of national importance established by the MHRD of Government of India. To conduct study programs institute has following departments:

biological sciences; chemical sciences; earth sciences; mathematics and statistics; and physical sciences.
