The Indian Navy Short Service Commission SSC

Recruitment in Technical, Executive branches

Applications are invited from unmarried male and female candidates who fulfill eligibility condition of Nationality as laid down by the Government of India for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in Technical / Executive Branches of the Indian Navy under University Entry Scheme (UES), for course commencing July 2012.

Eligibility Criteria
Age: 19 to 24 years (i.e. born between 02 Jul 1988 to 01 Jul 1993, (both dates inclusive).

Educational Qualification: Applicant should be studying in a recognized university with one of the following disciplines and should have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate marks till pre final year (upto VI semester):

Technical Branch

a) Engineering Branch (Men Only): (i) Mechanical (ii) Marine (iii) Automotive (iv) Mcchatronics (v) industrial & Production (vi) Metallurgy (vii) Aeronautical/ Aerospace viii) Control and Production

b) Electrical Branch (Men Only): (i) Electrical (ii) Electronics (iii) Tele Communications (iv) Instrumentation (v) Instrumentation and Control (vi) Electronics and Instrumentation (vii) Electronics and Communication (viii) Power Engineering (ix) Control System Engineering (x) Power Electronics (xi)Computer Science (xii) Information Technology xiii) Avionics

c) Naval Architecture (NA) Cadre (Men & Women): (i) Mechanical (ii) Civil (iii) Aeronautical / Aeropace (iv) Metallurgy (v) Naval Architecture

Executive Branch

General Service (X) (Men Only): (i) Mechanical (ii) Marine (iii) Aeronautical / Aerospace (iv) Production (v) Computer Science Engineering (vi) Information Technology (vii) Control (viii) Electrical (ix) Electronics (x) Telecommunication

Note:

(i) The under mentioned candidates need not apply-

(a) Candidates in their last semester (i.e. eighth semester).
(b) Candidates having backlogs in any of the semesters (appeared
or pending)
(ii) Candidate must have minimum of 60% marks in overall aggregate (I to VI semester) and on completion of BE / B Tech.


Physical Standard

The candidates must be physically fit according to following physical
standards:-

(a) Height & Weight: Minimum height- 157cms for men and 152 cms for women with correlated weight.

(b) Eye Sight:

(I) Technical Branch. 6/24, 6/24 correctable to 6/6 in each eye with glasses.

(ii) General Service (Executive). 6/12, 6/12 correctable to 6/6 in each eye with glasses. The candidates should not be colour/night blind.

".

Forward the application to the address as mentioned below, according to the place of location of your College/institution, by Ordinary post only, to reach latest by 18 July 11.

Application sent through Regd. Post/Speed post/Courier/By Hand / E-mail will not be accepted.

Obtain signature of the principal on the declaration given at the end of the application. Application must be sent in the format given in the website www.nausena-bharti.nic.in , otherwise it will be rejected.

Although candidates may be eligible for more than one branch/cadre yet they have to submit only one application and mentioned priority at para 17 of Application Form. If a candidate has submitted duplicate application or appears twice in campus interview, his/her candidature will be cancelled.

Application must be accompanied by attested copies of ;— (i) 10th standard certificate for verification of date of birth and other educational certificates. (ii) Marks statement of l to Vl semesters.

Application and requisite enclosures must be properly tagged/stapled. IHQ-MoD (N) will not be responsible for loss of enclosures, if sent loose.

Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Technical Branches (Engineering and Electrical)


Applications are invited from unmarried male candidates for Short Service Commission (SSC) in the

Technical Branches (Engineering and Electrical) of the Indian Navy for Course commencing Jan 2010

at NAVAC Ezhimala, Kerala.

Candidates to fulfill condition of nationality as laid down by the Government of India.

Eligibility

Age.: 19 & ½ to 25 years (candidate to be born between 02 Jan 1985 to 01 Jul 1990; both dates

inclusive).

Educational Qualifications: BE/B Tech (or equivalent) from Recognized University or AMIE with

minimum 55% marks in aggregate. Calculation for - aggregate percentage should be based on total

marks obtained in all the semesters (including I & II ), divided by total number of semesters, in

any of the following disciplines :-

(a) Engineering Branch. (i) Mechanical, (ii) Production, (iii) Aeronautical,(iv) Marine, (v)

Control.

(b) Electrical Branch. (i) Electrical, (ii) Electronics, (iii) Telecommunications, (iv) Avionics,

(v) Instrumentation & Control.

Note: Candidates in 8th semester can also apply provided they have aggregate of 55% marks till

7th semester.

Physical standards:

(a) Height and Weight: Minimum height - 157 cms with correlated weight

(b) Eye sight: The minimum acceptable vision standard for distant vision 6/24, 6/24 correctable

to 6/6, 6/6 with glasses. Should not be colour/night blind. .

SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION:

Short Service Commission is granted for a term of 10 years, extendable to 14 years, subject to

service requirement and performance / willingness of the candidate. On completion of these

tenures, officers are released with gratuity as admissible under the rules. Disciplined life,

leadership qualities and professional skills imbibed during the service would stand as added

advantages in acquiring second career post exit from the Navy.

HOW TO APPLY

(a) Application Forms, in accordance with the prescribed format, and complete in all respects

with superscription on the envelope "SSC ENGINEERING / ELECTRICAL BRANCH — JAN 10 course " are to

be sent to the address given below by 25 May 2009.

(b) Application must be sent in the format given in this advertisement, otherwise it will be

rejected.

(c) Application must be accompanied by attested copies of : (i) 10th Standard certificate for

verification of Date of Birth and Other Educational certificates.

ii) Marks statement of all semesters / years.

(d) Application and requisite enclosures must be properly tagged / stitched by thread only.

IHQ-MoD (N) will not be responsible for loss of Enclosures, if sent loose

SELECTION PROCEDURE:

(a) The candidates will be issued call up for Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews based on

their performance in BE/B Tech Degree qualification. No communication will be entertained on this

account.

(b) SSB interviews for short listed candidates will be scheduled during Jul-Dec O9 at Bangalore,

Bhopal or Coimbatore.

c) The total duration of SSB interview is of 5 days, consisting Stage I (Day one) and Stage II

(Four days). Stage I Tests, consist of Officers Intelligence Rating Test (OIR), Picture

Perception and discussion test (PDPT). Candidates who fail to quality in Stage I will be routed

back on the same day from SSB centre. Stage II Tests consist of Psychological Tests, Group Tasks,

Group discussion and Interview. The recommended candidates would then undergo Special Medical

Examination at nearest military hospital (approx duration of 05 days).

(d) Candidates recommended by the SSBS and declared medically fit will be appointed for training

in order of all India merit depending on the number of vacancies.

e) Change of SSB centre for interview is not permissible under any
circumstances.

f) Candidates who wish to change their SSB dates must apply to the President of the SSB, with a

copy of the application addressed to Directorate of Manpower Planning & Recruitment (OI & R),

Room No. 204, ‘C‘ Wing, Sena Bhawan, IHQ—MOD(N), New Delhi-110011 (Fax No. 011-23011282). Award

of fresh dates for SSB would be subject to availability at respective SSB.

(g) No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained as a result of tests

h) Return 2nd Class Sleeper rail tare is admissible for the SSB interview, if appearing for the

first time for the entry.
