Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) 2009

For M.B.A., M.C.A., & M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan. Degree Programmes

Applications are invited for the TANCET 2009 to be conducted by Anna
University Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu on 30th & 31st May 2009, from candidates who seek admission to 1. M.B.A., 2. M.C.A., and 3. M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan. Degree Programmes in Tamil Nadu for the year 2009-2010 offered at University Departments of Anna University Chennai, Anna University Coimbatore, Anna University Trichy, Anna University Tirunelveli, Govt. Engineering, Arts and Science Colleges, Govt. Aided Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges, and Govt. Quota seats in self-financing Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges / standalone Institutions.

Some Universities and Self–Financing Engineering Colleges may also opt to admit the candidates on the basis of TANCET.

Other State candidates can appear for the entrance tests but, admission is subject to the eligibility conditions of the admitting authority / University.

ELIGIBILITY:

1. MBA: A pass in any Degree with 10 + 2 + 3 or 4 years or a pass in any Degree with 10 + 3 (Diploma) + 3 years pattern.

2. MCA: Candidates who have passed in any recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 year duration (10+2+3 or 4 years pattern) in any discipline with Mathematics or Business Mathematics at +2 level (or) should have passed in any recognized Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years (10+2+3 or 4 pattern)duration in any discipline with Mathematics or Statistics as any one of the subjects.

3. M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan.: Details of the eligibility conditions are available in the website: www.annauniv.edu/tancet2009

Those who are appearing for final year / semester examination of the above qualifying degree in April / May 2009 can also apply for TANCET 2009.

Application Form

Application Form is common for all the three entrance tests. Candidates have to submit only one application. The candidates have to pay a fee of Rs.300/- (Rs.150/- for SC / ST Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu on production of a copy of Permanent Community Certificate) as entrance test fee for any one of the Programmes either (1) M.B.A. or (2) M.C.A. or (3) M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./ M.Plan.

If a candidate desires to appear for more than one programme, for every additional programme, he / she has to pay Rs.300/- (Rs.150/- for SC/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) along with the filled-in application.

The completed application (registered through Internet) should reach The Secretary, TANCET, Examination Centre, Anna University Chennai, Chennai 600 025 on or before 25.04.2009, by 5.30 p.m. The applications received after the due date and time will not be considered at any cost.

Admission to Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)- 2009 (5 years course)

Eligibility: No candidate shall be allowed to be admitted to the Dental Curriculum of first Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Course until:

1. He / She shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December, 2009.

2. He / She has passed qualifying examination as under:

The higher secondary examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 higher secondary examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two year of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics or any must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination and in addition must have come in the merit list prepared as a result of such competitive by securing not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together in the competitive examination.

In respect of candidates belonging to Schedule Casts, Schedule Tribes or any other categories notified by the Government the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together in qualifying examination & competitive entrance examination be 40% instead of 50% as stated above.

Provided that a candidate who has appeared in the qualifying examination the result of which has not been declared, he may be provisionally permitted to take up the competitive entrance examination and in case of selection for admission to the BDS course, he shall not be admitted to that course until he fulfils the eligibility criteria as per above regulations.

Application procedure: A candidate seeking registration to the Uttar Pradesh Common Admission Test – UPCAT-DENTAL is required to send his / her application on the prescribed application form only, appended in the information brochure. A candidate must not fill or submit more than one form for the examination.

The Information Brochure containing application form for registration for entrance examination and admission in B.D.S. Course for the Academic Year 2009-10 will be made available from member colleges as well as from the Oriental Bank of Commerce, Springdale Branch, Bichpuri Road, Pilibhit Bypass Road, Bareilly U.P. Eligibility: For eligibility for 85% seats category candidates should be a resident of Punjab State in terms of Punjab Govt., Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (PP II Branch) letter no. 1/3/95-3PP II/9619 dated 6th June 1996 and letter no. 1/3/95-3PP II / 81 dated 1st Jan 1999, Or

Eligibility

For Test No 1:

The candidate should have passed 10th class of 10+2 system of Matric or any other examination recognized as equivalent to 10th class examination, conducted by CBSE. The subjects Science, Mathematics and English are compulsory and the candidate should have passed in these three subjects without considering grace marks.

For Test No. 2:

Passed Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the CBSE, Delhi in any stream of 10+2 (Academic) or any other examination recognized as equivalent to the Senior Secondary School Certificate. The subject English is compulsory for Modern office Practice (English) and the candidate should have passed in this subject without considering grace marks.

Test No. 3:

Passed Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the CBSE, Delhi in any stream of 10+2 (Academic) or any other examination recognized as equivalent to the Senior Secondary School Certificate. The subject Hindi/Sanskrit is compulsory for Modem office Practice (Hindi) and the candidate should have passed in this subject without considering grace marks.

Test No. 4:

The candidate should have passed the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the CBSE, Delhi or any other examination recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination of the CBSE. The subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and either Mathematics or Biology are compulsory and the candidate should have passed in these subjects without considering grace marks. As per directions issued by Pharmacy Council of India vide their letter No.14-2/2007-PCI-13143 dated 27.12.2007, the candidates who have appeared/ passed through National Institute of Open Schooling shall not be considered for admission to this course.

For Test No. 5:

For 10 + 2 Vocational (Engg. Courses): Passed in 12th Class examination of analogous 10 + 2 Vocational Stream of CBSE or equivalent from Delhi Schools with minimum 60.00% marks in aggregate of best five subjects for which marks are reflected in the mark sheet, without considering grace marks in these best five subjects.

For ITI pass outs (Engg. Courses) : Passed NCVT/SCVT from ITIs /lTCs located in Delhi and affiliated to DGE&T/BTE, Delhi with a minimum of 60.00% marks in aggregate of all subjects reflected in the mark sheet, without considering grace marks.

(1) Students who have written the examination in 2009 and awaiting results are also eligible to apply but their admission will be subject to the production of proof of having acquired minimum prescribed qualification.

Short Service Commission (Observer Officer) for unmarried Men and Women candidates

Applications are invited from unmarried Men and Women candidates for Short Service Commission (Observer Officer) in the Aviation Cadre of Executive Branch of the Indian Navy for Course commencing Jan 2010 at Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala.

Candidates to fulfill conditions of nationality as laid down by the Government of India.

Eligibility Conditions

Age: 19 to 23 years, born between 02 Jan 1987 and 01 Jan 1991; both dates inclusive.

Educational Qualifications: A candidate must be a graduate in any discipline with an aggregate of 55% marks. The candidate must have passed 10 + 2 with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects.

Physical Standards:

(a) Minimum height: 162.5 cms with correlated weight, leg length, sitting height and thigh length for both Men and Women candidates.

(b) Eye Sight: The minimum acceptable vision standard for distant vision 6/6, 6/9 correctable to 6/6, 6/6. Should not be colour/night blind.

SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION

Short Service Commission is granted for a term of 10 years, extendable to 14 years, subject to service requirement, performance & willingness of the candidate. On completion of these tenures, officers are entitled for gratuity under the extant rules.

Selection Procedure

(a) Candidates will be issued call up for Service Selection Board (SSB) interviews based on their performance in educational qualification. If a candidate possesses higher qualification with better percentage, his higher qualification will be considered for cutoff. Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) (IHQ-MoD (Navy)) reserves the right to short-list applications and to fix cut off percentage without assigning any reason. No communication will be entertained on this account

(b) SSB interviews for short-listed candidates will be scheduled during Aug to Nov 09 at Bangalore.

(c) The SSB interview is conducted over five days in two stages. Stage-I includes intelligence Test, Picture Perception test and Group discussion and is conducted on the first day. Stage-II includes Psychological Tests, Group Task and personal interview conducted over the balance four days. Candidates failing to qualify a particular stage would be sent back the same day. Successful candidates would then have to clear a Aviation medical examination at the same venue (approx duration 3-5 days)”.

(d) Candidates recommended by the SSBs and declared medically fit will be appointed for training in order of all India Merit depending on the number of vacancies and subject io police verification.

(e) Change of SSB centre for interview is not permissible under any circumstances.

(f) "Candidates who wish to change their SSB dates, must apply to the President of the SSB, with a copy of the application addressed to Directorate of Manpower Planning & Recruitment (Ol&R), Room N0. 204, ‘C‘ Wing, Sena Bhawan, IHQ-MOD(Navy), New Delhi•110 011 (Fax No.011-23011282).
(g) No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained during the selection process.

(h) ‘Candidates appearing for SSB interview for the first time for this entry would be eligible free rail sleeper class return fare`.
