Eligibility: Age: Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or before 31st December, 1993 (minimum 17 years of age as on 31st December, 2010).

Minimum Qualification: The candidates must have passed the 10+2, i.e. I.S.C/Intermediate Examination or its equivalent from a recognized Board/ University. The Candidates must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 60% (For SC/ST/OBCcandidates 50%) marks in aggregate taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and atleast 50% (For SC/ST/OBC candidates 40%) marks separately in each subject in the qualifying examination.

The candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examination and whose results are not yet available are also eligible to appear in the PMEE-2010.

2. Candidates appearing for I.S.C/Intermediate Examination in March/April 2010 can appear for the entrance examination.

CUSAT CAT 2010 - Cochin University of Science and Technology

Educational Qualification for a, b & c above: Pass in Plus Two Examination of the State of Kerala with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto securing a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.

d. B.Tech in Instrumentation Technology - Pass in Plus Two examination of any State/National Board with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto by CUSAT. The candidate should have secured a minimum of 60% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together, with at least 55% in Mathematics separately.

e. B.Tech in Marine Engg. **(Residential Programme)
(1) Pass in Plus Two or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60% marks & minimum 50% for Mathematics and should have obtained 50% marks in English at 10th or 12th standards. For SC/ST candidates, no relaxation in qualification.
(2) Vocational/Diploma students are not eligible to apply.
(3) The Maximum age limit prescribed is 25 years as on 1st September 2009.
(4) Eligibility for admission will be based on directions from the DG Shipping (India)

f. B.Tech in Naval Architecture & Ship Building- Pass in Plus Two examination of the State of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto with a First Class securing a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics as well as for Mathematics as well as for Mathematics,Physics and Chemistry put together.
g. 5 Year LL.B. (Hons) (Cost sharing course)
(1) Pass in Plus Two examination with 60% marks in Science/Commerce group of 55% of marks in Arts/Humanities
(2) Should not have completed 21 years of age on 1st January of the year of admission. (**Self Financing)
h. SC/ST candidates are eligible for admission to the courses mentioned under 1.1 above if they have pass marks in the qualifyingexamination except in B.Tech. Marine Engineering Programme

LL.M. – Bachelor’s degree in Law with at least 45% marks

M.A. Applied Economics – Bachelor’s Degree in Economics with 55% in Part III (Economics and Subsidiaries) or 60% with B.Com, BBA, BBM with Economics as one of the subject or BSc Mathematics or Statistics with 65% marks

M.A. Hindi Language and Literature – B.A./B.Sc degree with Hindi as a subject of study with at least 45% marks in Hindi

M.B.A. (Full-time/Part-time*) – A degree in any subject with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (*Condition apply)

M.B.A. (International Business) – A degree in any subject recognized by the University with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate

M.C.A.*** offered by CUSAT and its recognized institutions. Any graduate with Mathematics as one of the main or subsidiary subjects or graduate in Electronics/ Computer Science/Computer Applications/Engg./Technology with aggregate 55% marks in all subjects other than Languages and Humanities.

M.Sc Applied Chemistry – B.Sc degree with Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry/ Environmental Chemistry/ Industrial Chemistry/ Petrochemicals as main, with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary subjects with at least 55% marks in the main subject.

M.Sc Biotechnology – Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Life Sciences including Agricultural and Medical Sciences or Chemical Science or Chemical Engg. With a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate

M.Sc Electronic Science (with specialization in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics Microwave Electronics and Computer Technology) – First class B.Sc degree with not less than 60% aggregate marks in Electronics or Physics

M.Sc Environmental Technology – Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with Physics and Mathematics as subsidiaries, or Graduate in Engg (Civil/Public Health/ Environmental or Chemical) (Stream I) or Life Sciences/Environmental Sciences/ Zoology/ Botany/ Microbiology (Stream II) with 55% marks

M.Sc Hydrochemistry – B.Sc degree in Chemistry with Physics and Mathematics as subsidiaries or B.Sc degree of any University in Kerala with Polymer Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/Petrochemicals/Environment & Water Management as the main subject and Mathematics and Physics/Computer Science, as subsidiaries with 55% marks in the respective main subject.

M.Sc Industrial Fisheries – Bachelor’s degree in Zoology/Botany/ Fisheries with at least 55% marks in the optional subjects. Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries includes bachelor’s degree in Industrial Fisheries, Aquaculture/Fishery Science/ Industrial Fish and Fisheries/BFSC in Nautical science.

M.Sc Marine Biology – B.Sc degree with any branch of Life Sciences such as Aquaculture, Bio-chemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, Microbiology and Zoology as a main subject or B.Sc degree in Fishery Science with at least 55% marks in theoptional subjects.

M.Sc Marine Geology – Bachelor’s degree, in Geology/Maths/Physics/ Chemistry with 55% aggregate marks for optionals.

M.Sc Marine Geophysics – B.Sc degree with at least 55% aggregate marks in (a) Geology (main) with Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry as subsidiaries (b) Physics (main) with Mathematics and Geology or Chemistry or Electronics as subsidiaries (c) Mathematics (main) with Physics and Geology or Chemistry as subsidiaries

M.Sc Mathematics – B.Sc degree with Mathematics main, with at least 55% marks for optional subjects taken together

M.Sc Meterology – B.Sc degree with Physics/Mathematics as the main subject with 55% marks. Those with Mathematics as the main subject should have studied Physics as one of the subsidiary subjects and vice-versa

M.Sc Oceanography – B.Sc degree with Physics/Mathematics as the main subject with 55% marks. Those with Mathematics as the main subject should have studied Physics as one of the subsidiary subject and vice-versa

M.Sc Physics – B.Sc degree with Physics main and Mathematics as subsidiary with at least 55% marks in Physics

2. M.Tech Programmes

Admissions to the following M.Tech programmes are based on valid GATE score as prescribed under the academic regulations specific to each programme. Candidates not possessing GATE may also apply, but will be considered only if GATE qualified candidates are not available. In such cases, admissions will be based on the Departmental Aptitude Test (DAT).

M.Tech Atmospheric Science – (1) M.Sc degree or its equivalent in Meteorology, Oceanography, Mathematics, Physics, Space Physics with a First Class (60%) marks from any recognized university or institution. (2) A valid GATE score or a pass in the Joint UGC CSIR Test (NET) for JRF.

M.Tech Computer Aided Structural Analysis & Design – (1) B.Tech or Equivalent degree in Naval Architecture and Ship building/Civil Engg/Mechanical Engg with a first class (60%) marks from any recognized university or institution (2) A valid GATE score

M.Tech Computer & Information Science – (1) B. Tech or equivalent degree in any discipline/AMIETE/AMIE or M.Sc in Physics with Electronics as special subject, or M.Sc in Mathematics with a first class (60%) marks from any recognized university or institution (2) A valid GATE score.

M.Tech Electronics (With specialization in Digital Electronics, Microwave & Radar Electronics) – (1) B.Tech or equivalent degree/AMIE/AMIETE in Electronics and Communication Engg/Electrical Engg/Electronics and Instrumentation or M.Sc degree in Electronics/Physics (with Electronics as specialization) with a first class (60%) marks from any recognized university or Institution (2) A valid GATE score in Electronics/ Electronics and Communication Engineering (3) If sufficient number of candidates are not available in category (2) above, candidates with GATE score in instrumentation, Electrical & Electronics Engg., Electrical Engg. or Physics will be considered.

OPENMAT XXVII





The Last date for submission of admission form for Management Programme – OPENMAT-XXVII, Post Graduate Certificate in Oral Implantology and Post Graduate Certificate in Endodontics- OPENDEN-II of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is 10th January 2010.

Student Handbook & Prospectus for Management Programme’ can be obtained from the registrar (SRD), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-68 and from all the Regional Centres of IGNOU by sending a sum of Rs. 550/- through a Demand draft/IPO in favour of IGNOU payable at New Delhi/ city of concerned Regional Centre or by paying Rs500/- in cash at the respective sale counters. The application and Prospectus can also be downloaded from IGNOU website www.ignou.ac.in.

The entrance test “OPENMAT-XXVII” will be held on Sunday , 7th February’2010 all over the country.

Eligibility: Students who have passed the Class XII (or equivalent) qualifying examination in 2008 or 2009 or are appearing in 2010 from any recognized Board of education in India and have secured an aggregate of at least 60% marks (or equivalent grade) are eligible to apply. For Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Persons with Disability (PD), the minimum marks requirement is 55%. (Where only “Letter” grade is given by a Board, a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent percentage marks will be required. In the absence of such a certificate the decision of the Admissions Committee of the concerned institutions will be final.)

2. Age Limit: General category candidates and Candidates belonging to Other Backward Castes (OBC) born on or after 01 Oct. 1985 are eligible to apply. For SC/ST/PD candidates the age limit is relaxed by 5 years. In any case, the eligibility criterion mentioned above must be satisfied.

3. Number of Seats and Reservation: This year (2010), the number of seats is 60 at NISER, 30 at UM-DAE CBS and 21 at ISERC. There will be reservations as per Government norms. Further details are given on the websites of NISER (http://niser.ac.in) UM-DAE CBS (http://cbs.ac.in) and ISERC (http://visva-bharati.ac.in).

Application procedure:
Application Fee: Application fee for appearing in NEST is Rs. 500/- for male general category and male OBC candidates. For male SC/ST/PD candidates and all female candidates the amount is Rs. 250/-. The application fee should be sent to Chief Coordinator at the address mentioned below in the form of a demand draft / postal order in favour of 'NEST-2010' payable at Mumbai.

Application Form: Candidates may follow any of the following two channels to apply.
(a) They may follow the instructions on the website (http://www.nestexam.in) and fill up the application form on-line, take a print-out, paste a photograph at the appropriate place, and send the same along with the application fee (in the form of a demand draft / postal order) to the address below.

(b) They may send a letter to the address below requesting application form and brochure which will be posted to them. On the receipt of the application form and the brochure the candidate may fill up the form, paste a photograph at the appropriate place, and send the completed application form along with the application fee (in the form of a demand draft / postal order) to:

About NEST 2010
National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) 2010 is the entrance test for students seeking admission to the University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS), Mumbai, National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, and Integrated Science Education and Research Centre (ISERC), Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan. The test will be conducted in 34 cities and towns across India. This brochure gives the detailed procedure for applying for the test, syllabus of the test and various deadlines.Students who are highly motivated to pursue higher education and research in science are encouraged to apply.

NEST 2010 Centres
The list of cities and towns where the NEST-2010 examination will be held is given in Appendix I. Candidates should list two centres according to their preference in the application form. Every effort will be made to allot the centre of their first choice. Allotment of an examination centre by the Chief Coordinator, NEST-2010 will be regarded as final and any request to change of centre will not be entertained. The address of the allotted centre will be mentioned on theNEST admit card.

Question Paper Pattern
The question paper will consist of five sections totaling 200 marks: (1) General, (2) Biology, (3) Chemistry, (4) Mathematics, (5) Physics. The first (General) section is compulsory for allstudents and will carry 60 marks. Of the remaining four sections (2 – 5) the students will have to select any two, each of which will carry 70 marks. The questions will be aimed at testing the subject comprehension and analytic ability of the candidates. The questions will be of objective type with four options given for each question. Some questions may have more than one correct answer. For some questions in sections 2 to 5, incorrect answers will be awarded negative marks. The question paper will contain explicit instructions in this regard.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
The candidates who qualify in JAM 2010 shall have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admissions in IITs.

At least 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree.

For candidates with letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks), the equivalence in percentage of marks will be decided by the Admitting Institute(s).

Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with the minimum educational qualification as specified by the admitting institute should be submitted by 30th September 2010.

At the time of admission, all admitted candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form. At the time of registration, the admitted candidates may also have to undergo a physical fitness test by a medical board constituted by the Admitting Institute. In case a candidate is not found to be physically fit to pursue his/her chosen course of study, his/heradmission is liable to be cancelled.

Note: (i) It will entirely be the responsibility of the candidate to prove that he/she satisfies the minimum educational qualifications and eligibility requirements for admissions.

(ii) The admitting institute has the right to cancel, at any stage, the admission of a candidate who is found to have been admitted to a course to which he/she is not entitled, being unqualified or ineligible in accordance with the rules and regulations in force.

General Information
The JAM 2010 is open to all nationals (Indian/Foreign). Candidates seeking admission to academic programmes covered under JAM 2010 need to appear in JAM 2010. There is no age restriction.

For admission, foreign nationals will be required to satisfy the rules and regulations of the admitting Institute(s) pertaining to foreign students. For further details, they are advised to contact the Admitting Institute(s) concerned.

To apply for admission to a desired programme, a candidate is required to qualify in the corresponding test paper and also satisfy the minimum educational qualifications andeligibility criteria of the academic programme.

The candidates who have either appeared or are due to appear in the final examination of their qualifying degree in 2010 are also eligible to appear in the test. On qualifying JAM 2010, such candidates can apply for provisional admission subject to the condition that: (i) all parts of their final examination shall be completed by the date of registration of the Admitting Institute, and (ii) proof of having passed the qualifying degree with requiredeligibility, as specified by the admitting institute will be submitted by 30th September 2010.

Admissions to various academic programmes at different institutes will be made on the basis of merit in JAM 2010. On the basis of performance in the test, for each test paper, separate merit lists will be prepared for General, OBC (non-creamy layer), SC, ST and Persons with Disability (PD) category candidates.

Request for the change of category, if any, with proper documentation, should reach the Organizing Institute by 20th February 2010. Requests received after this date will not be accepted under any circumstances.

Candidates should note that mere appearance in JAM 2010 or being in the merit list of any test paper neither guarantees nor provides any automatic entitlement foradmission. Qualified candidates will have to apply for admission as per the prescribed procedure. Admissions shall be made in the order of merit and depending on the number of seats available at the Admitting Institute(s).

With regard to the interpretation of the provisions of any matter not covered in this Information Brochure, the decision of the Organizing Institute shall be final and binding on all the parties concerned.
