Central Universities Common Entrance Test

Applications are invited for Central Universities Common Entrance Test – CUCET 2011 for admission to Undergraduate and 5 – year Integrated Programmes after 10+2 and Post graduate & Research Programmes in 7 Central Universities.

The seven Central Universities, namely Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kashmir, Kerala, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu have come together to conduct a common entrance test for programs offered in these Universities. This test enables a candidate, as a single window facility, to seek admission to over 70 undergraduate and 5 year integrated programs after 10 +2 and postgraduate & research programs in these seven Universities.

IGNOU launches FDDI courses

New Delhi: IGNOU New Delhi launches 5 under graduate programs and 3 post graduate programs in association with FDDI- Footwear Design and Development Institute. The programs shall be offered on full time basis across 6 cities in India, viz; Noida, Fursatganj, Chennai, Kolkata, Rohtak and Chindwara.

IGNOU Vice Chancellor, prof. R. Pillai told to various new sources, "These are professional programmes aimed at opening new avenues for students. These programmes will help in producing trained man power for export oriented industries working in field of footwear technology, leather industry and other allied products." The programs include M.Sc in retail management, fashion merchandising, CAD/CAM, leather goods and accessories design, communication design and visual merchandising, B.Sc fashion merchandising and retail management, leather goods and accessories design and footwear technology. The classes will be held at different FDDI Centers.

"The programmes been launched keeping in mind an urgent need to orient footwear industries and their research and development laboratories to initiate new educational programmes to upgrade the knowledge of practicing workers, semi-skilled and skilled personnel in footwear industries keeping in view the demands of technological revolution at work place," said Prof Pillai.

The IGNOU-FDDI information bulletin and application form can be obtained from FDDI campuses in Noida, Rae Bareilly, Chennai and Kolkata and from designated banks from 55 locations across India. The last date for submission of application form is 19 may 2011.

Managing director of FDDI, Rajeev Lakhara said: "With the gradual increase in the branches of FDDI and in view of the increase in student's strength it became imperative to provide degree to the students to make the programmes of FDDI at par with other universities. With this new development, students would be able to apply for higher study and also apply for central and state government jobs as well."
