UPSC abolished English Testing from Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2014

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) New Delhi declared changes in Exam Pattern of Civil Services Premliminary Examination 2014. The new formulated Civil Services Prelims Exam Pattern is as follows:


Both Civil Services Prelims Exam 2014 Paper-I and Paper-II will be held on 24 August 2014. Time allotted is 2 hours for each paper.

English Language Comprehension abolished now from Civil Services Preliminary Exam Paper-II.

"The questions on English Language Comprehension skills (of Class X level) contained in each set of Test Booklets of Paper-II are not to be attempted as these questions shall not 
be evaluated for gradation or merit. The Candidates are, therefore, advised not to attempt questions on English Language Comprehension skills for which Hindi translation has not been given in the respective Test Booklets of Paper-II" states UPSC Press Release.

The maximum allotted marks fo Civil Services Preliminary Exam Paper I will be 200.

The maximum allotted marks fo Civil Services Preliminary Exam Paper II will be 200 LESS marks allocated to the questions on English Language Comprehension skills.
