Coffee Board invites applications for the Post Graduate Diploma in Coffee Quality Management (PGDCQM 2014-15)

The Coffee Board, Government of India, Ministry of Commerce & Industry invites applications for the Post Graduate Diploma in Coffee Quality Management (PGDCQM 2014-15) for the academic year starting in August 2014.


 Taste coffee. Evaluate it. Define its quality. And become an expert in Coffee Quality Management.

With increasing awareness about food safety and environment in a post-WTO era, the quality of coffee is the key issue, for producers, exporters and consumers alike.

To drive the quality mission forward, the Coffee Board of India has instituted a post graduate course to support the requirements of the Indian coffee industry for trained personnel with special aptitudes and skills. Coffee quality evaluation is a well-accepted practice the world over, and students from previous batches have found satisfying and remunerative assignments in Indian coffee companies.

The PGDCQM is designed to equip students with the specific knowledge and skills required to function as coffee tasters. Course content includes coffee cultivation practices, coffee marketing, quality evaluation techniques and quality assurance systems, training sessions.

12 months course in 3 trimesters conducted in English.
Accommodation: Students to make own arrangements at Bangalore during the second and third trimesters.
Free accommodation will be provided during the first trimester at CCRI, Balehonnur, Chikmagalur.
Admissions open to candidates from open category and those sponsored by coffee industry.
Selection by committee based on academic record, personal interview and sensory evaluation test.

Eligibility: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Bioscience, Food Technology, Food Science, Environmental science or a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural sciences. Preference given to candidates sponsored by export / Curing establishments /coffee plantations.

Application Procedure: Application forms can be downloaded from website or collected personally from Coffee Board, Bangalore. Filled in application form along with a demand draft for Rs.200/- payable to “Coffee Board General Fund Non Plan Account” and a self-addressed envelope (9” x 6”) should reach to the address given below by 15th July 2014.

Foreign students admitted under open and sponsored categories should be well versed in the English language. Their admission is subject to the clearance of Govt. of India.

Course Fee: Rs. 75,000/-(Seventy Five Thousand only).

ICAR International Fellowship 2014

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) invites applications from the Indian as well as overseas nationals having Master’s Degree in Agriculture and allied sciences for the ICAR International Fellowships (ICAR-IFs) for the Year 2014-15.


The ICAR-Ifs are available for pursuing doctoral degree in agriculture and allied sciences, in the identified priority areas, to the (i) Indian Candidates for study abroad in the identified overseas Universities / Institutions having strong research and teaching capabilities and (ii) to overseas candidates for study in the best Indian Agricultural Universities (AUs) in the ICAR-AUs system.

Twenty Fellowships, (likely to increase up to 30) each for total duration of 3 years will be available.

National Museum Institute, New Delhi: MA Admission 2014

The National Museum Institute (NMI) invites applications in prescribed form from eligible candidates for admission to M.A. Courses for the academic session 2014 as per following minimum eligibility criteria:-

M.A. (History of Art):- A Graduate Degree from Indian University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or a recognized foreign University with minimum 50% marks.

Desirable: A Background in Social Science, Liberal Arts or Fine Arts.

Total seats:       25     (UR - 12, SC - 4, ST - 2, OBC - 6 & PWD - 1)


M. A. (Conservation):- A Graduate Degree from a recognized University with 50% marks in any of the following subjects: Chemistry / Physics / Geology / Botany / Zoology / Computer Science / Fine Arts / History / History of Art / Architecture / Archaeology / Museology / Designing or a Diploma recognized as equivalent to graduate degree in any of these fields.

Total Seats:       15     (UR - 8, SC - 2, ST - 1, OBC - 4)

M.A. (Museology):- B.A. / B.Sc. (Honours) or B.A. / B.Sc. / B.F.A (3 Years) in any discipline under Humanities and Social Sciences / Science from a recognized University with 50% marks.

Desirable:  A Background / P.G Diploma in subjects related to History of Art and Museum studies.

Total Seats:       15     (UR - 8, SC - 2, ST - 1, OBC - 4)

 Desirable:

Knowledge of one classical / foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, Italian other than mother tongue will be an additional qualifications for the purpose of M. A. Courses.

Syllabus of Written Entrance Examination (M.A. Courses): National Museum Institute New Delhi Admission 2014

 
Candidates seeking admission in M.A. (History of Art), M.A. (Conservation) and M.A. (Museology) course will undergo a written test in respective subject.

History of Art

a. The Indus Valley Civilization: art and architecture.

b. Early Indian art during the period of the Mauryas, Shungas, Satavahanas,  Kushanas, Guptas, Vakatakas: stupa and early temple, architecture, sculpture and painting traditions.

c. Medieval art under the major dynasties such as Western Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas, Pallavas, Cholas, Hoysalas, Pratiharas, Parmaras, Chandellas and Pala-Senas: Temple traditions: Nagara, Dravida, and Vesara.

d. High Medieval art and architecture of the Sultanate and Mughal periods, Miniature paintings: Mughal and Rajasthani schools.

e. Modern and Contemporary Indian Art: major art movements and artists.

Conservation

a. General knowledge about art and cultural heritage.

b. Knowledge of basic sciences.

c. Manual dexterityand observation skills of the applicant.

d. Writing skills.

Museology:

a. Basic understanding of a museum’s role in the society.

b. General knowledge about various museums.

c. Social, cultural and educational role of a museum.

d. Awareness of Indian culture and heritage.

e. Basic understanding of Museology as a discipline as different from other  related fields.
f. The candidate should be able to justify one’s reason for opting for the course.


FELLOWSHIP & SCHOLARSHIP
 
The Institute offers 8 merit scholarships each for the first and the second year M.A. students. Out of these, one scholarship is reserved for the student from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories.
