Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC)

The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) is administering authority of Class 10th and Class 12 Board Examination in the state run government and private schools in Jharkhand

Major responsibilities of board includes advising government of the state on matters related school education, offering leadership to school, looking after school administration, devising syllabus, conducting board examination and preparing results.

Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education

The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) conduct Class 10th and Class 12th Board Examination for the government and private schools of Goa. Besides conducting examination, the board also devise curriculum, provide leadership schools, and assist government in formulating education policies.

Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE)

The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) was established in the year 2000 for governance of state schools of Chattisgarh. The board has Head Office in the state capital Chattisgarh.

Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan (BSER)

The Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan (BSER) is administering authority for secondary school examination (Class 10) and Senior Secondary School Examination (Class 12th) in for the state schools of Rajasthan.

Board of Secondary Education, Madhya Pradesh

The Board of Secondary Education Madhya Pradesh is administering authority for Class 10th and Class 12th Board Examination for state school of Madhya Pradesh. Besides conducting examination, the boards also conducts compartmental examination, declare results, provide affiliation to state school, offer leadership and devise curriculum.

Bihar School Examination Board

The Bihar School Examination Board is administering authority for Secondary School Examination and Senior Secondary School Examination. The board provides affiliation to state level schools, offer leadership, devise curriculum, conduct examination and declare examination results.

Stephen Hawking speaks on Facebook; Congratulations Mark Zuckerberg!

The Stephen Hawking, noted Theoretical Physicist joined Facebook today. Within no time during the time of writing this article his page has 1,151,476 likes. I think record number of likes in shortest time period, not sure. Hope Facebook will release something in future or someone else will dissect this aspect. How to select school?

The parents know best about their child, this includes ability, temperament, talent, special needs and lot other things which makes a child unique in her own way. Choosing the right school is the most crucial decision that parents take for a child and which turns a child's prospects. This article is all about considering on important issues before you take a decision about choosing right school
for your child.

1. Know your Child's needs
  • What are your child's academic abilities?
  • What is he or she interested in?
  • What are the things he or she is particularly good at?
  • What are the things he or she struggles with?
  • Do these need to be remedied?
  • Is your child creative? In what way?
  • Does the child show any sporting talent?
  • What personality, strengths and weaknesses does he or she have?
  • What kind of school environment would your child respond to?

2. Know your needs

The school environment considerably affects your child, so it is reasonable to expect the values promoted by the school to at least approximate your own.You need to work out what you want from a school before asking what a school has to offer. Values don't mean moral and religious values. The 'Value' also refer to a variety like the school's attitude to affirmative action for girls, or even something as mundane as the nutrition available at the school mess or canteen. If it's important to you, it's not mundane. There are also practical points to consider, such as your willingness (or lack of it) to be involved in school related activities. Have you the time to participate in travel arrangements? How much time and energy are you prepared to give to the school? Some schools expect a high level of parent involvement, others less. If you have more than one child, are their needs quite similar or are they likely to attend different schools ? If they are, demands on your time will be multiplied. 

3. What Different Schools Offer?

Gather information from different sources and find out what different schools have to offer. Visit the schools personally, or browse the school website and find out the necessary information vital for your child's career.

National Institute of Science Education and Research





Applications are invited from Indian citizens for admission to Ph.D. Program scheduled to commence from December 2009 in the following schools of basic sciences at NISER Bhubaneswar:

1. School ol Biological Sciences
2. School of Chemical Sciences
3. School ol Mathematical Sciences
4. School of Physical Sciences
Eligibility: Age: Not more than 28 years on December 01, 2009 (Born on/after December 01, 1981)

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

Biological Sciences: 55% in Masters in any branches ot Biology, life sciences and bioinformatics.

People with masters in any branches of natural and computer sciences with interest in pursuing career in biology.

Chemical Sciences: 55% in M. Sc. Or equivalent degree in Chemistry/ Biochemistry/ Material Science

Mathematical Sciences: 55% in M. Sc. or equivalent degree in Mathematics

Physical Sciences: 55% in M. Sc. or equivalent degree in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematical Physics or equivalent degree in Engineering EE/ME .

Candidates should have qualified the CSlR-NET/ GATE/JEST/NBHM or equivalent examination valid for the current year in the relevant area of research. UGC-CSIR JRF qualified candidates can avail the fellowship directly from UGC or CSIR, whereas, students selected for Ph.D. program based on GATE/JEST scores, are eligible for financial aid (Assistantship / Scholarship) from NISER, Bhubaneswar at par with CSIR fellowship.

Application procedure: The application form is available free of cost and can be downloaded from www.niser.ac.in .

Else, the form can be obtained by post, or in person, from the academic section, NISER Bhubaneswar.

In case of request by post, please enclose a self-addressed envelop (A4 size, 21 cm X 30 cm) affixed with postage stamps of Rs. 22/-.

Candidates intending to apply for more than one program should use separate application form for each program with appropriate enclosures.

• Fill-in the application form completely. incomplete application form will be rejected. The application form can either be typed or hand-written.

• Send only attested copies of all supporting documents (mark sheets, certificates, age proof, caste certificate, etc.)

• Arrange to send at least one letter of recommendation to the address below

• Send the filled-in application forms with all enclosures to the address mentioned below or scanned copies of complete application can also be e-mailed to registrar@niser.ac.in
