A candidate can appear for CAT2014 only once during the 2-day testing window (4 sessions).

CAT 2014 Eligibility

A candidate must hold a bachelor's degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) (It may also be referred to as Persons With Disability (PWD) categories), awarded by any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.  The percentage of marks obtained by a candidate in the bachelor's degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. In case a candidate is awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/CGPA to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from where he/she has obtained that bachelor's degree. In case the university/ institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate's CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100. Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and the awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if he/she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2015 from the Principal/Registrar of his/her College/Institute (issued on or before June 30, 2015) stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate. IIM may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, the details of which are provided at the website www.iimcat.ac.in. Applicants should note that the mere fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for short listing by IIMs.

Prospective candidates must maintain a valid and unique email account and a phone number throughout the selection process.

Reservations

As per Government of India requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for SC and 7.5% for ST candidates. For Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the 'non-creamy' layer (NC-OBC) 27% of the seats are reserved.

For an updated central list of state-wise OBC's eligible for availing the benefit of reservation and information in respect of the creamy layer visit the website www.ncbc.nic.in. in case of NC-ONC category, the castes included in Central list(available at www.ncbc.nic.in/Centrallistforbc.html) of NC-OBC by the National Commission of Backward Classes, Government of India as on the last day of registration will be used. Any subsequent changes will not be effective for CAT 2014.

As per the provision under section 39 of the PWD Act, 1995, 3% of the seats are reserved for Person with Disability (PWD) / Differently Abled (DA) candidates. The three categories of disability area) low-vision/blindness, b) hearing impairment, and c) locomotors disability/cerebral palsy. This provision is applicable if a candidate suffers form any of the listed disabilities to the extent of not less than 40%, as certified by a medical authority as prescribed and explained in the said Act.

The candidates belonging to categories for which seats are reserved need to note and read the eligibility requirements carefully before applying. It should be noted that while it is the endeavour of IIMs that the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD (DA)/Non-Creamy OBC categories join the programme in programme in proportions mandated by the law, they have to meet the minimum eligibility criteria and a certain minimum level of performance in the admission process. The candidates should read carefully the description of admission process followed by each IIM on their respective websites. No change in the category will be entertained after registration; hence, the applicants are advised to pay attention while registering.

Payment Of Registration Fees

The registration fees is Rs.1600 for General and NC-OBC candidates and Rs.800 for SC/ST/PWD (DA) candidates, which is to be paid online at the time of registration. The details will be available on www.iimcat.ac.in.

Please not that a candidate needs to pay registration fee only once irrespective of the number of institutes he/she is applying for. NC-OBC, SC, ST and PWD (DA) candidates must upload a copy of their NC-OBC/SC/ST/PWD (DA) certificates at the time of registration. Fees once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances.

Registration For CAT 2014

The registration window opens on 6th August, 2014 and will close on 30th September, 2014. The details about the registration process will be available on CAT 2014 website www.iimcat.ac.in.

At the time of registration, a candidate has to select three test cities as per her/his preference from the drop down menu. A candidate will be allotted a test site in one among the three of her/his preferred test cities in any one of the four sessions after the last date of registration. The candidates can download their admit cards from 16th Oct, 2014 till their exam date.

Test Cities

There are 99 test cities. The details about the test sites spread across 99 test cities will be available on www.iimcat.ac.in from 16th Oct, 2014 and the name of the test site will be indicated in her/his Admit Card. IIMs reserved the right to change or cancel any test site and/or change the test window time and dates at their own discretion.

CAT 2014 Scores

A candidate's CAT 2014 score card will be made available at the www.iimcat.ac.in and individual information will not be sent. The CAT results will be declared during 3rd week of December, 2014. CAT 2014 score will remain valid till December 31, 2015. The CAT 2014 candidates' scores will be made available till December 31, 2015. Subsequent to that date no queries related to issuance of CAT 2014 score cards will be entertained.

Admission Process

Please note that each IIM shortlists candidates for the second stage of selection which may be independent of each other. The process may include Written Ability Test (WAT). Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI). Performance in CAT 2014 examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may use previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of the candidates at various stages of the admission process.
