Fellowship: Every FPRM Participant receives a fellowship of Rs. 14000/- per month till they clear the Comprehensive Qualifying Examination, then Rs. 16000/- per month and a contigency grant of Rs. 20000 per year for a period of 4 years.

Placement: Graduating Fellows have joined faculty positions in IIMs and other reputed institutions / universities.

Admission Test: All Indian Applicants will apepar for CAT 2014 and IRMA Test on "Issues of Social Concern" (scheduled on January 25, 2015). The scores will be combined in the selection process.

GATE 2012 - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering

Admission to postgraduate programmes with MHRD and some other Government scholarships/ assistantships in engineering colleges/ institutes is open to those who qualify in GATE examination. GATE qualified candidates with Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology / Architecture or Master's degree in any branch of Science/ Mathematics / Statistics/ Computer Applications are eligible for admission to Master's degree programmes in Engineering/ Technology /Architecture as well as for Doctoral programmes in relevant branches of Science with MHRD or other government scholarships/ assistantships. To avail the scholarship, the candidate must secure admission to such a postgraduate programme, as per the prevailing procedure of the admitting institution.

However, candidates with Master's degree in Engineering/ Technology /Architecture may seek admission to relevant Doctoral programmes with scholarship/ assistantship without appearing in the GATE examination.

GATE 2012 Eligibility

The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear for GATE 2012:

Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/ Technology / Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programmes.

Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (Post-B.Sc./ Post-Diploma) and those who are in the final year of such programmes.

Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programmes.

>Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology.

Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology.

Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institute of Engineers (India); AMICE by Institute of Civil Engineers (India)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

Take a print out of the entire file on A4 size white sheets using a laser / inkjet printer.

The bank challan (Page-5) will be printed in triplicate. Take it to any one of the branches of ICICI, Indian Bank or State Bank of India (as opted by the candidate) and pay the fees. Bank will retain a copy and will return two copies to you. In those two copies, retain the Candidate's copy with you and attach the GATE Copy with the application.

Paste your recent photograph (3.5 cm X 3.5 cm) in the designated place of Page-2. Before pasting, please write your name and application number on the backside of the photo with black ball point pen.

Sign at the designated place of Page-2.

Paste Page-4 on top of a 10 inch x 12 inch size laminated envelope.

Post/Submission

Before posting your application form, make sure that, in addition to the other relevant attachments, you have attached either a copy of the degree certificate or a certificate from your college principal.

Duly filled-in Application with appropriate enclosures must be sent by Speed Post (preferably) or by Registered Post to The Chairman, GATE of the Zone corresponding to the 1st Choice of Examination City, so as to reach on or before Monday, 24th October, 2011 OR

DR. K.S.Krishnan Research Associateship (KSKRA)





Invites Applications for its Prestigious Scheme DR. K.S.Krishnan Research Associateship (KSKRA)-21st Batch

Research Associates selected under the prestigious KSKRA programme are given an opportunity to work on R&D programmes of national importance relevant to the mandate of the Department in one of the following advanced research centres of DAE:

1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai.

2. Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam.

3. Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore.

4. Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC), Kolkata.

5. Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), Mumbai.

Up to 20 KSKRAs can be selected every year and paid a stipend of Rs.20,000/- (likely to be revised) + benefits for a maximum period of 2 years. Anytime during the 2nd year of associateship, subject to satisfactory performance, the KSKRAs will be absorbed in one of the above R&D units of DAE and appointed in the grade of Scientific Officer/ Engineer-D/ E.

The associateships are available in the following broad disciplines:

Engineering (All Branches) – Subject Code: 01
Physical Sciences – Subject Code: 02
Chemical Sciences – Subject Code: 03
Bio-Sciences – Subject Code: 04

Eligibility

A) Minimum Educational Qualification and Experience:

i) For Engineers: Ph.D. degree in Engineering (Those who have submitted thesis for Ph.D. may also apply) or Master`s degree in Engineering (M.Tech./ M.E./ M.S.) with a minimum of 2-year R&D experience after obtaining M.Tech./M.E../ M.S. degree.

ii) For Scientists: Ph.D. degree in Science (Those who have submitted Ph.D. thesis may also apply).

All candidates must have a First Class at either Masters or Bachelors level.

All candidates must provide a list of publications in support of their R&D experience.

B) Nationality/Age: Indian nationals who are not more than 32 years as on 1st January in the year of the application. The age criterion is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates. The SC/ ST/ OBC certificate should be as per the prescribed format.

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT

Selection will be done by an interview committee (appointed by BRNS) from among the short listed candidates based on their qualification, published R&D work and performance in the interview. The selected candidates would be appointed as KSKRA for an initial period of one year, which is extendable by one more year based onperformance during the first year.

KSKRAs would be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 20,000/- + benefits. Those candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis but are yet to receive their Ph.D. degree, if found suitable by the interview committee in view of their expertise and academic record, would be first designated as Research Associate (RA) and paid Rs.16,000/- per month and only after completion of their Ph.D. and obtaining a provisional certificate, they would be designated as KSKRA and paid Rs.20,000/- per month. For all other benefits, their date of joining as RA will be treated as the date of joining KSKRA Scheme. In addition Rs.10,000/- per year will be paid as Educational Material Allowance. Associates will be provided Hostel accommodation, medical and leave benefits during the Associateship.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Anytime during second year of Associateship, subject to satisfactory performance as evaluated by the concerned DAE unit, KSKRAs will be appointed as Scientific Officer/ Engineer-D in the Pay Band-3 (PB-3) (Rs.15,600-39,100) plus Grade Pay (GP) Rs.6,600/- and up to 4 advance increments may be awarded depending uponqualification, experience and performance . Exceptionally brilliant candidates with excellent track record in advanced technologies and having a Ph.D. may be considered forScientific Officer/ Engineer-E in PB-3 with higher GP of Rs.7,600/-.

In addition benefits under Performance Related Incentive Scheme (PRIS) as applicable to the scientists and engineers in DAE will also be provided. Total starting emoluments including Incentives and Allowances at the time of absorption in a Class-A1 city as on 01.01.2010 are more than Rs.50,000/- forScientific Officer/ Engineer-D and Rs.54,000/- for Scientific Officer/ Engineer-E.

HOW TO APPLY

a) The application should be preferably typewritten on a plain paper as per the pro-forma given in the advertisement for only one of the subjects listed above. Multiple applications received would be rejected.

b) Attach only photocopies of the following documents/ certificates duly attested by a Gazetted Officer/ Head of the Institute (Do not enclose original certificates).

i) All degree certificates and mark sheets starting with the eligibility qualification (for example Ph.D.) certificate.

ii) GATE Score, GATE Subject and GATE Exam Year or NET Qualification (optional).

iii) Proof of date of birth e.g. CBSE/ HSC/ SSC/ Matriculation certificate.

iv) SC/ ST/ OBC/ DODPKIA certificate, if applicable, as per the prescribed format.

c) Affix one passport size photograph on the top right corner of the application and enclose one spare photograph inside the envelope indicated at “c” above. Append your signatures across both the photographs.

d) Postal Order/Demand Draft of Rs.100/- as application fee drawn in favour of Accounts Officer, BARC payable at Mumbai. SC/ST and Dependents of Defence Personnel Killed In Action (DODPKIA) are exempted.

e) Persons working under the Central/ State Government/ Public Sector Undertakings should submit their application through proper channel.

f) Enclose 3 envelopes (size 5”x7”) with complete addresses including PIN code: One envelope for self and one each for the two referees who are familiar with your work. For a letter to be sent to Hindi-belt in India, the address on the envelope should be written in Hindi.

g) On the left hand corner of envelope please clearly mark your Subject Code Number and inscribe KSKRA with application due date.

h) Send application by Registered Post with Acknowledgement Due Card to the Deputy Establishment Officer (R-IV), 4th floor, Central Complex, Bhabha AtomicResearch Centre, Trombay, Mumbai-400085.

i) Applications will be received throughout the year. Selection interviews will be held twice every year.

j) The applicants who submit their applications by 1st March will be called for interview in May and those who submit their applications by 1st September will be called for interview in November of the same year.

Women Scientists Fellowship Scheme (WOS-B) – 2010





The Fellowship Scheme for Women Scientists for societal programmes is initiative of the Department of Science & Technology. This scheme is addressed to women scientists and technologists who have “break in their careers” due to social responsibilities but have desire to return to mainstream science and work as bench-level scientists. All those women having a burning desire to utilize their scientific acumen through active research and development projects which are aimed at meeting societal needs and aspirations are eligible. Women scientists desiring to apply for this scheme are required to develop their own research project / proposals demonstrating science and technological applications for societal benefits.

Objectives

Provide an opportunity for women scientists to re-enter into active research after a break in career, through support for S&T based R&D projects addressing the needs of people in unorganized urban or rural areas and

Provide an opportunity for S&T capacity building of women on issues relevant in societal programmes.

Project Proposals For

Research, development and adaptation of technology to improve the quality of life and provide additional opportunities for income generation in rural areas or urban slums.

Adaptation and transfer of an innovative technology developed at laboratory level to field.

Capacity building of applicant in technology areas relevant to the needs in rural areas.

Nature of Support

Support will include a scholarship grant of Rs.15,000 per month for a period of two years for candidates with Ph.D., M.Tech., MS/MD and Rs.10,000 per month for candidates having post graduate degree for a period of two years.

Grant for minor equipment, consumables, contingencies, travel and overheads will also be considered if found necessary under the work plan.

Who Can Apply

Indian nationals living in India and who are currently not employed in permanent position and who possess one of the following qualifications

Ph.D. or masters degree in science.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or technology, architecture, medicine or pharmacy.

Who have break in career after the last degree received for at least three years.

Whose age is below 50 years at the time of applying.

Candidates selected for award of the fellowship are not expected to register for higher degree (Ph.D., etc.) during the period of fellowship.

Candidates already having a permanent jobs or fellowship will not be considered unless they advance cogent reasons for making the change. In such cases the application should be accompanied by a letter from the Head of the Institution agreeing to relieve the candidate.

Other Requirements

The project proposal must show an active association with a field agency in regard to implementation of the project irrespective of the fact whether the candidate is attached to an educational institution or R&D institution or any other agency. A letter to that effect from field agency is required.

A certificate from the host institution, for extending infrastructural or administrative support for the project must be enclosed with the application. Similarly, a certificate from the identified field agency showing the agreement to get associated with the project is also required.

If the proposal includes clinical trials involving humans or animals necessary ethical clearance following ICMR/ CPCSEA guidelines must be submitted along with the proposal.

Duration of Fellowship

The scholarship will be given initially for duration of two years. The period may be extended to the third year in exceptional cases, if recommended by Experts during periodic reviews.

Selection Mechanism

A Committee of Experts will be involved in the selection process. The two-tier selection process will be adopted involving initial screening and subsequent individual presentation by the screened-in candidates before a group of Experts. The selected candidates will be informed by post. The list of selected candidates can also be seen on the website.

One year Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Post-Graduates for the year 2010- 2011 (OCES-2010)

Two Year DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates and Post Graduates in Physics for joining M.Tech. course in specified specializations starting in July 2010 at IIT Bombay, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee, NIT – Rourkela – DGFS – 2010

A minimum of 60% in the qualifying degree /PG degree is required. Science candidates are required to have secured 60% in B.Sc. degree also.
Application procedure: Application Fee: A non-refundable application-processing fee of Rs. 100/- (Rs. one hundred) for an online application and Rs.200/- (Rs. two hundred) for a postal application is chargeable from the applicants in General and OBC categories. SC/ST applicants and Dependents of Defence Personnel Killed in Action (DODPKIA) are exempted from payment of application fee.

The application fee is to be paid by crossed Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of Accounts Officer, BARC, and payable at Mumbai. The applicant should write his/her name and address at the back of the DD and retain the bank receipt and photocopy of the DD. Do not staple DD.

(1) Online Application: Keep the DD in hand for the amount of the Application Fee. Log on to the website www.hrdbarc.gov.in , and follow the instruction there for filling and submitting the Net-form .

(2) Application by Post can be made by taking two photocopies on an A4 size (8.3"x11.7") paper of the accompanying format as Application Form. No separate application form is issued. Fill in all the relevant information, paste photographs on both the copies and mail both copies along with one set of enclosures and DD towards theapplication fee to the address given in the application form. One copy shall be returned to the applicant indicating the application number. That copy should be brought along at the time of appearing for Written Test and/ or Interview .

International Institute For Population Sciences

Fellowship : The selected Indian students will be awarded a Government of India fellowship initially for one year only and is extendable on yearly basis as per rules of the Institute. Each eligible candidate with NET qualification for lecturership only either in Population Studies or its interdisciplinary subjects will be awarded the Government of India fellowship @ Rs. 12,000/- per month for first and second years and Rs. 14,000/- per month for the third year respectively. Each fellowship carries a contingency grant of Rs.10,000/- for the first two years and Rs. 20,500/- for the third year. However, the candidates without NET qualification for lecturership shall be awarded the Government of India fellowship @ Rs. 6,250/- p.m. for first and second years and Rs. 7,000/- p.m. for third year respectively with an annual contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/-.
