DU M.Tech Nanosciene & Nanotechnology Admission 2012

The University of Delhi (DU) invites applications for M.Tech Nanoscience and M.Tech Nanotechnology beginning academic session 2012. These courses are sponsored by DST.

Who can apply?


A Candidate must have qualified the Joint Admission Test (JAM-2012) to M.Sc. in Physics/Chemistry/Electronics conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) AND few seats are also available for meritorious candidates qualifying the M.Sc. Admission Entrance Test (2012) conducted by the University of Delhi.

Minimum Educational Criteria Regarding Qualifying Exam


Bachelor’s Degree with Physics/Chemistry/Electronics as a subject with 60% aggregate
marks for General Category & 55% for all reserved categories.

Completed at least one year course in Mathematics.

Scholarship


All the selected candidates shall be provided scholarship of Rs. 3,000/- p.m. to be sponsored by Department of Science and Technology (Govt. of India) OR by University of Delhi.

Admission Notice for Five Year Integrated M.Tech. Course in Bio-Medical Engineering 2012-2013

 IIIT-Allahabad announces admissions to Five Year Integrated M.Tech. Course in Bio-Medical Engineering. Eligibility Criteria: 10+2 (Class XII) from science discipline (PCB/PCM).
General and OBC categories must secure at least 60% of marks in aggregate & SC, ST and PD must secure at least 55% of marks in aggregate in qualifying exam.

GATE 2012 - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering

Admission to postgraduate programmes with MHRD and some other Government scholarships/ assistantships in engineering colleges/ institutes is open to those who qualify in GATE examination. GATE qualified candidates with Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology / Architecture or Master's degree in any branch of Science/ Mathematics / Statistics/ Computer Applications are eligible for admission to Master's degree programmes in Engineering/ Technology /Architecture as well as for Doctoral programmes in relevant branches of Science with MHRD or other government scholarships/ assistantships. To avail the scholarship, the candidate must secure admission to such a postgraduate programme, as per the prevailing procedure of the admitting institution.

However, candidates with Master's degree in Engineering/ Technology /Architecture may seek admission to relevant Doctoral programmes with scholarship/ assistantship without appearing in the GATE examination.

GATE 2012 Eligibility

The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear for GATE 2012:

Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/ Technology / Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programmes.

Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (Post-B.Sc./ Post-Diploma) and those who are in the final year of such programmes.

Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programmes.

>Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology.

Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology.

Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institute of Engineers (India); AMICE by Institute of Civil Engineers (India)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

Candidates have to apply only Online. Details of the application fee and the steps in the application process are given below.

Payment can be made using netbanking. Bank service charge is extra (maximum of Rs.30/-)

Take a print out of the entire file on A4 size white sheets using a laser / inkjet printer.

Cash Payment: (only for Challan Payment option)

The bank challan (Page-5) will be printed in triplicate. Take it to any one of the branches of ICICI, Indian Bank or State Bank of India (as opted by the candidate) and pay the fees. Bank will retain a copy and will return two copies to you. In those two copies, retain the Candidate's copy with you and attach the GATE Copy with the application.

Paste your recent photograph (3.5 cm X 3.5 cm) in the designated place of Page-2. Before pasting, please write your name and application number on the backside of the photo with black ball point pen.

Sign at the designated place of Page-2.

Paste Page-4 on top of a 10 inch x 12 inch size laminated envelope.

Post/Submission

Before posting your application form, make sure that, in addition to the other relevant attachments, you have attached either a copy of the degree certificate or a certificate from your college principal.

Duly filled-in Application with appropriate enclosures must be sent by Speed Post (preferably) or by Registered Post to The Chairman, GATE of the Zone corresponding to the 1st Choice of Examination City, so as to reach on or before Monday, 24th October, 2011 OR

It can be handed over personally to the respective Zonal GATE Office on or before Monday, 24th October, 2011.

National Board of Higher Mathematics Mumbai

Scholarships for Pursuing Post Graduate Studies (M.A. / M.Sc.) in Mathematics

The National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) invites applications for the grant of scholarships to students for pursuing studies for M.A. / M.Sc. degree in mathematics.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be motivated B. A. / B. Sc. first class degree holders, or students, who have appeared for B. A. / B. Sc. final year examination and expect a bachelors degree with first class, or B.Sc. (honours) degree holders with at least second class, or students who have appeared for B. Sc. (honours) final year examination and expect a B. Sc. (honours) degree with at least second class.

Students who have completed three years of an integrated M. Sc. course with cumulative grades equivalent to first class are eligible to apply. Students with good academic record and who are in M.Sc. ( Part -I) or in the fifth year of a 5 year integrated M.Sc. course are also eligible to apply.

Applicants should be below the age of 23 years as on January 1, 2011. Exceptional cases, however, may be considered on merit.

Application Procedure

Applications on plain paper should be made in the format. They
should be sent in duplicate along with a recent passport size photograph attached to each copy and a self-addressed envelope to the appropriate person for the Zone in which the candidate wishes to appear for the written test. The envelope containing the application should be super—scribed "NBHM M.A. / M. Sc. Scholarships".

Addresses of persons (zonal coordinators) to whom the applications should be sent, are given below.

Two centers where the candidate could appear for the written test must be clearly indicated giving the order of preference. While it is not guaranteed that a centre of a candidate’s choice will be allotted, every
effort will be made to do so. Under exceptional circumstances, a candidate may be allotted a center from the zone, which is not from those indicated by the candidate.

The Scholarship : Successful candidates will be eligible to receive a scholarship of Rs. 6,000/- (Rs. six thousand only) per month, during their two-year (one-year if the student is granted the scholarship during the second year) M.A. / M. Sc. programme. The scholarships are sanctioned for one year at a time and are renewable at the end of the year, subject to satisfactory progress. Students who are in M.Sc. (Part-l) or in the fifth year of a 5 year integrated M.Sc. course will get the scholarship only for one year.

To avail of the scholarship the students have to be enrolled in an appropriate institution, in India, for an M.A. / M.Sc. degree in Mathematics. The scholarship will be paid through the institution they join.

Selection Procedure

Selection will be made on the basis of a written test followed by interview of short-listed candidates. The written test will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011. The questions will be primarily in the areas of Algebra, Analysis and Geometry. The test will be for two and half hours and involve questions with short answers. Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan-2011(UK)

Applications are invited from Indian nationals either on line through http://www.education.nic.in/ or on plain paper in the FORMAT GIVEN for nominations from India for the award of Commonwealth Scholarships in United Kingdom tenable from October 2011 for higher studies/research/specialized training in the subjects mentioned below in the United Kingdom.

Up to Sixty (60) nominations are to be sent to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission for final selection to be made by them. Out of these not more than twenty five (25) are for doctoral studies (including via the spilt-site mode) reflecting operational quotas for awards.

Research Areas

Life Sciences: Infectious and non-infectious diseases, bioinformatics, developmental biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, life-history evolution, immunology, circadian biology, animal behaviour, behavioural ecology, evolutionary genetics, experimental evolution, chronobiology, behavior.

Material Sciences: Including Nano Sciences, energy and green materials.

Chemical Sciences: Solid state chemistry, theoretical/ computational chemistry, inorganic, physical, organic chemistry.

Physical Sciences: Condensed matter theory and experiment, statistical physics, semiconductor materials physics, biophysics, nano physics, polymer physics, organic electronics, computational material science, soft matter.

Engineering Sciences: Theoretical and computational fluid dynamics, flow of complex fluids, granular media, experimental fluid mechanics, thermal science, chemical engineering and physical metallurgy, non-linear dynamics including planetary dynamics.

The students selected under this programme are placed with scientists at the Centre or elsewhere in India, for 2 months with a stipend of Rs. 5000 /- p.m and travel support as per Govt. of India norms.
