Spanish as a study discipline



Spanish is the most widely spoken Romance language. It is official language of Spain More than 400 million people in the world speak Spanish. Spanish is also accepted as official language in following countries- Central America and South America, including Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela; Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.

Russian as a study discipline

Russian belongs to Slavic language family. It’s written with Cyrillic alphabets and comprises 33 basic letters and sometimes more. It has similarity with other Slavic languages like Polish, Slovak, Ukranian, Slovenian, and Bulgarian. More than 250 million people worldwide speak Russian. It is one of the most spoken language of Eurasia and eighth most spoken language in the world.

German lanuage as a study discipline

German language belongs to Indo – Germanic group of languages, it has resemblance with Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, and English languages. German has privilege of Mother Tongue and National Language of people of Germany. Outside Germany it’s also spoken in Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Luxembourg. German is the language of European Union and also recognized as official language of Austria.  German has more than 105 million native speakers and more than 80 million non-native speakers. Standard German is widely taught in schools, colleges and universities across the Globe and Goathe Institutes worldwide.

French Language as a study discipline

French is a Romanic language oftentimes also referred as Romance language. Mainly spoken by the people of France, French has more than 128 million speakers in approximately 54 countries of the world. French is a progeny of the Latin language of the Roman Empire, as are languages such as Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Catalan and Romanian. Its growth was also prejudiced by the native Celtic languages of Roman Gaul and by the Germanic language of the post-Roman Frankish invaders.

M. Phil

Ph. D
Eligibility: For PGCTE:

A person with any one of the following qualifications is eligible to apply for PGCTE:
an MA in English OR An MA with at least a second class in an allied discipline (Linguistics, Education, Mass Communication or Psychology) along with 5 years of experience in teaching English OR An MA (in any discipline) with at least a second class along with 5 years of experience in teaching “Methods of Teaching English’ at the MEd/BEd level.

For PGDTE: All those who have successfully completed the PGCTE programme are eligible for admission to this programme.

For M.Phil

MA English (TESL)/MA TESL (with 55% or as per EFL University grading system norms) OR
PGCTE (CIEFL/EFL University) with a minimum GPA of 3.00 without an E grade. OR
PGDTE (CIEFL/EFL University) with a minimum GPA of 3.00 without an E grade in either of the semesters.

For Ph.D.: A candidate is eligible for the PhD programme if he/she has an MPhil degree in English from a recognized university OR if he/she has completed the coursework in the MPhil programme in English from CIEFL/EFL University with a minimum GPA of 3.00.
Application procedure: *Fee (includes Registration, Student Welfare Fund and Development Fund):

Nationals of SAARC Countries (including India): Rs.4,600/-
Nationals of non-SAARC Countries: Rs.8,600/-

*Postage:
For India, Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh: Rs.1000/-
For Other Asian Countries: Rs.5,000/-
For all non-Asian Countries: Rs.8,000/-

*Cost of the application : Rs.500/-

Note: *Cost of the application form, Fee and Postage to be paid along with the filled in application form. Part payments will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Fees will be refunded to candidates ineligible for admission or who, for any other reason, are
not admitted to the course. Once the provisional letter of admission is issued fees will not be refunded.

Procedure for application

1. You can write a letter by enclosing a crossed *D.D. for Rs.500/- to the ‘The Dean, School of
Distance Education, The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad 500 605 for
prescribed Application form. Filled in application forms will be accepted from 1 October to 31
December.

2. If you are using the internet application form, please draw a demand draft for an amount of
Rs.500/- towards the cost of the application form and another demand draft for fee plus postage
charges. That is, an Indian citizen from India should send two crossed demand drafts one for
*Rs.500/- and one for *Rs.5600/- along with a filled in Internet application form and mail to
‘The Dean, School of Distance Education, The English and Foreign Languages University, (Osmania University Campus), Hyderabad–500 605’.

The *demand drafts should be drawn in favour of "the Registrar, EFL University, Hyderabad 500 605."

Applications will not be entertained without the photo copy of the pass certificate or
provisional pass certificate of M A in English.
