DU links to 500 institutes for NKN launch


On Wednesday the education sector of India realizes a dream come true, when University of Delhi (DU) connected virtually to 500 national institutes online for the launch of National Knowledge Network i.e. NKN lecture series. The NKN is largest electronic network in the education sector.
The lecture was delivered by Sam Pitroda and Michael Sandel. The title of the lecture was “democratising information, justice, equality and the rule of law”. Sam Pitroda is policymaker, innovator and entrepreneur; he is the Advisor to Prime Minister of India. Michael Sandel is American Political Philosopher and Professor at Harvard University. The Gwyer Hall of the Delhi University made a mark a in online learning history connecting 11 institutes via 2 way link, while 500 odd institutes across India were connected via one way link to witness the event. Tata Institute, IIT Mumbai and Guwahati, IIM Calcutta and Pune University are the some top institutes of India that were on Gwyer Hall virtually.

DU M.Tech Nanosciene & Nanotechnology Admission 2012

Who can apply?


A Candidate must have qualified the Joint Admission Test (JAM-2012) to M.Sc. in Physics/Chemistry/Electronics conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) AND few seats are also available for meritorious candidates qualifying the M.Sc. DU Semester Exam Date Sheet

The Delhi University 2nd and 4th Semester Examination General and Honors Courses will begin from May 7.
The BA,BCom (H),all BA (H),BSc and BSc (H) subject papers will begin on May 7 and BCom on May 9. BA exams will finish on May 17 and BCom General and Honors exams on May 16. BA Honors and the BSc (H) mathematics exams will be over on May 14. BSc (H) and BSc exams will end on May 18. The exam timing for BA and BCom exams will set from 3pm and all others willat 9am.

Admission to Two Year Full Time MBA and Ph.D. Programmes 2012

University of Delhi- DU - FMS Eligibility Criteria

MBA : Candidates applying for admission to the 2-year Full-Time MBA must have pursued at least a 3-year Bachelors Degree programme after 12 years of formal schooling. The minimum requisite percentage of marks (in aggregate) in a bachelor degree in different disciplines

Arts, Commerce or Social Science - 50%; Sciences - 55%; Mathematics or Statistics • 60%: Medicine, Engineering or Technology - 60% / CGPA of at least 6.00 in a scale of 10.00. OR Post-Graduate Degree or 2nd Degree examination after 10+2+3 scheme, securing at least 60% marks. Candidates appearing for the final year examination of Bachelor’s / Post-Graduate Degree examination may also apply.

DOCTORAL PROGRAMME : Candidates seeking admission to FMS Doctoral Programme, are required to take the Common Admission Test CAT 2011 conducted by Indian Institutes of Management during October 22, 2011 to November 18. 2011. Work experience minimum of two years is mandatory for all candidates.

Candidates exempted from the admission test are required to apply to FMS on the prescribed form alongwith a demand draft of Rs.250/- drawn in favor of Registrar, University of Delhi, by 31st January, 2012.

Admission to M.B.A. (Full-Time) and Ph.D. Programmes will be based on personal interview, group discussion and CAT-2011 score Common Admission Test conducted by Indian Institutes of Management during October 22. 2011 to November 18. 2011).

Applications invited for MSc Operational Research and MA/M.SC Applied Operational Research Programmes

Eligibility Criteria

(a) Any Master’s Degree examination of the University of Delhi or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto with at least two papers in Mathematics/ Computer Science/ Statistics/Operational Research at graduation/ higher level. (55% marks in aggregate)

OR

(b) Any Bachelor’s Degree examination under 10+2+3 scheme of examination of the University of Delhi or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto with at least two papers in Mathematics/ Computer Science/Operational Research/ Statistics. (55% marks in aggregate)

Note:

1) The candidates who are appearing in the final year examination of the degree on the basis of which admission is sought are also eligible to apply.

2) Applicants who have graduated under the 10+2+3 scheme or an equivalent scheme are eligible for admission.

3) Relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility conditions will be allowed to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates.

Admission Ticket:

The Admission Tickets will be issued by post only. In case of non-receipt of the Admission Ticket, a request may be made to the Department with two copies of photograph and Serial Number of Application Form, not earlier than three days before the date of the Common Entrance Test date, for issue of a Duplicate Admission Ticket. The candidate will be required to show the Admission Ticket at the time of the test. No candidate will be admitted to the Examination Hall without the Admission Ticket.

Common Entrance Exam for DU BA Hons Journalism program

New Delhi: The University of Delhi (DU) plans to offer common entrance test for the B.A. (Hons.) Journalism course admission. The 5 DU Colleges which offer B.A. (Hons.) Journalism programs are Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, Kamala Nehru College, Lady Sri Ram College, Kalindi College and Maharaja Agrasen College. Admission into these colleges BA Hons Journalisn program should be based on performance in Common Entrance Test to be conducted on 19 June 2011. The application process shall be fully online. The first common entrance test for BA Hons Journalism admission shall be administered by Maharaja Agrasen College on the behalf of Delhi University (DU). the online application procedure for the test will be on the lines of the BBE, BBS and BFIA admissions.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for admission to Post-Graduate Degree/ Diploma/ MDS Courses (Except CHA and DHE course):

The candidate must have passed final M.B.B.S. examination for MD/MS Course and BDS examination for MDS Course of the University of Delhi and must have completed satisfactorily one year compulsory rotating internship as on 31.03.2011 and must submit their internship completion certificate before or at the time of appearing for the counselling.

The candidate must have full registration with the Delhi Medical Council/ State Medical Council/ Medical Council of India/ Dental Council of India.

For MD/MS/Diploma Courses: A candidate in order to become eligible for admission must obtain 600 marks out of 1200 i.e. 50% marks in the PGMET.

Provided that candidates belonging to SC and ST categories shall be required to obtain 480 marks out of 1200 i.e. 40% marks in the PGMET and in case of OBC category candidates shall be required to obtain 540 marks out of 1200 i.e. 45% marks in PGMET.

For MDS Courses: A candidate in order to become eligible for admission must obtain 400 marks out of 800 i.e. 50% marks in the PGMET. Provided that candidates belonging to SC and ST categories shall be required to obtain 320 marks out of 800 i.e. 40% marks in the PGMET and in case of OBC category candidates shall be required to obtain 360 marks out of 800 i.e. 45% marks in PGMET.

Eligibility Criteria for admission to MD (Community Health Administration) course:

A candidate must have completed satisfactorily one year of compulsory rotating internship after passing the final M.B.B.S. examination.

The candidate must have full registration with the Delhi Medical Council/ State Medical Council/ Medical Council of India.

The admission of the candidates be made strictly according to the merit based on the PGMET – 2011.

The candidate must have put in 5 years of service on or before 31-03-2011.

For Diploma in Health Education (D.H.E.) Course:

The candidates seeking admission to the above course shall satisfy the following conditions on or before 31-03-2011:

Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery recognized by Medical Council of India with at least one year’s experience of working in General Medicine/ Primary Health Centre/ Department of Preventive and Social Medicine or Community Health or in a Medical College. Preference will be given to those candidates who are in service. OR

Master’s Degree in selected Social Science (i.e. Psychology/ Sociology/
Anthropology/ Social Work/ Economics /Political Science/ Education or Nursing from recognized University with at least one year’s experience in community health welfare programmes or teaching in Social Biological Science/ Physical Education / Home Science. Preference will be given to those candidates who are in service. OR

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences as stated in (b) above or Home Science/ Nursing/ Education or Public Health from a recognized University, with at least three years experience in community health and who are in service.

The candidates may obtain Bulletin of Information and Application Form from the Office of the Deputy Registrar (Medical), Faculty of Medical Sciences, 6th Floor, V.P. Chest Institute Building, University of Delhi, Delhi – 110007 in the following manner:

(i) By hand In person against bank draft for Rs.1,500/- (One Thousand Five hundred only) for General Category and OBC Category candidates and Rs.1,000/- (One Thousand Only) for SC/ST/PH category candidates between 9:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. and 2:00 PM to 04:00 PM on all working days upto 07.01.2011.

(ii) By post Against bank draft for Rs.1,550/- (Rs.One Thousand Five Hundred and Fifty only) for General Category and OBC Category candidates and Rs.1,050/- (Rs. One Thousand and Fifty Only) for SC/ ST/ PH category candidates by sending a self addressed envelop of 10" X 8" up to 29.12.2010.

(iii) The candidates may also download the Application Form from the Faculty website www.fmsc.ac.in or Delhi University website www.du.ac.in and submit the same alongwith requisite Application Form Fee.

All payments to the University should be made by a crossed Bank Draft/ Banker’s Cheque drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favour of the Registrar, University of Delhi payable at Delhi. DU Announces the launch of a new 5 (3+2) years Integrated M.Sc. in Earth Science from the academic year 2010

The Department of Geology, a Centre of Advanced Studies (CAS), is a premier Earth Science Department of the country with faculty members of diverse specializations. The achievements of the Department are also acknowledged by various funding agencies viz., DST, UGC under FIST and COSIST programmes.

The Department offers 3 years B.Sc. (Hons.) and 2 years M.Sc (Geology), courses. In addition, the Department also offers M.Phil., and Ph.D programmes on state-of-the art earth science disciplines. Realizing the demand for earth scientists in the growing economy of the country the department is offering 5-year integrated M.Sc in Earth Science course from current academic session (2010-2011).

Students admitted under this new course will get the scope of specialization in Geo-Exploration (Mineral, Oil and Coal), Active Tectonics and Seismicity, Climate change, Carbon Sequestration, Geochemistry, Environmental Geosciences, Solid Earth Geophysics, Geoinformatics, Natural Hazards and Engineering Geology.

Eligibility through Category 1 : IIT-JEE Merit List or Category 2 : Passed 10+2 (Maths Group based on merit and availability of seats after Category 1)

There is a provision to exit after 3 years on successful completion with B.Sc Degree in Earth Science.

Eligibility: The candidate must have passed the degree of Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery (BUMS) from the University of Delhi, (five years and six months) duration including one year compulsory internship which must be completed by 31st December 2009 and should have obtained permanent registration from the State Council/Board of Ayurvedic & Unani System of Medicine.

Eligibility: 1. Passed Bachelor's Degree examination of the University of Delhi or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto in any discipline, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent thereto in the grading system.

2. Candidates appearing for the final year degree examination may also apply provided they are able to produce their mark sheets before 15th October 2010.

3. Candidates should be minimum 20 years of age as on 1st October in the year of admission, However, the Vice-Chancellor may relax the age limit upto 6 months as and when he deems desirable.
Application procedure: The Prospectus and Application Form can be obtained in person or by post from The Section Officer, Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007, against a Bank Draft from a Nationalised Bank of Rs. 500/- for one course and Rs.800/- for both the courses (Rs.400/- and Rs. 600/- respectively for the SC/ST/PH/OBC category), drawn in favour of the Registrar, University of Delhi, payable at Delhi / New Delhi.

If desired by post, send one self-addressed envelope (28 cms X 22 cms) with a demand draft of Rs. 600/- for one course and Rs. 900/- for both courses (Rs.500 and Rs.700 respectively only for SC/ ST/ PH/OBC category).
